Valenti didn't show up for work today.
Unbelievable. Mike Valenti isn't hosting his radio show today. Terry Foster just said "I have no idea where he is". This is one of the biggest cop outs I have ever heard of in the sports media world. If you're going to dish out that Sparty garbage on a daily basis, you have to show up and take your medicine after last night. But I'm sure him skipping the show today was just a coincidence. What an embarrasment. Any shred of credibility this shock jock had is completely gone now.
Sam Webb was right. What a hack.

Little brother sometimes cries and goes in his room after you beat him up in a driveway game. Especially when little brother thinks he's gotten better than you.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
I bet he is looking for his nook and crying for his mommy!

I wish so badly that I could +1 this comment. Will bookmark and return.

I love a good sports-related portmanteau.
(Another goodie was that one wherein we explain Brady Hoke's peculiarly instant popularity by identifying his keystone characteristic as far as the MSM is concerned: he's Notriguez.)
Oh for finnegan'sake. ;)
January 28th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
That lousy sonofabitch.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
I picture Valenti reacting to Sparty's loss much the same way Ace Ventura reacted when he found out Einhorn was a man.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
only thing that would've made it better is if foster didn't show up either.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
And if Jeff Defran would get hit by a bus we would have a trifecta!
January 28th, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
That guy makes me switch to FM.
January 28th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
... no static at all.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
That show would be better off if they turned it over to Teddy Ruxbin and HR Pufn'stuff...
January 28th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
When did he ever have credibility to start with?
January 28th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
Are you still reading "The Wheel of Time?" Just curious didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
Random question...but I am. I'm trying to pace my reading so I get to the last book when it comes out.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
I am always reading books and was curious what this series was about?
January 28th, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Think of Lord of the Rings, but way more in depth and not awful.
January 28th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
As much as I like Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings didn't have so much pointless dialog and every female character wanting to smooth her skirt every 3 minutes.
To each his/her own, but I enjoy both series.
January 28th, 2011 at 4:20 PM ^
I like Wheel of Time too, but LOTR has more imagination and world building in about 1200 pages than Wheel of Time in, literally, 10 times that many. Jordan badly needed a strong editor. Having said that, a say, 5 volume Wheel series would be awesome and without some of the drawbacks LOTR has, IMO.

HBO doing a series based on the first book, coming out soon.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
You can't blame him. He was there, his onions soaked getting a bunch of old asses up out of their seats. He did his job.

pucker pucker pucker...

January 28th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Do you think it was the one game his dad had the opportunity to fly in for?
January 28th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
At least when State got killed by UNC in the championship Valenti showed up and "pretended" to have a sore throat. This is just embarrassing.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
him on fb. he claims he planned on taking this day off months ago...haha i dont believe that.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
Negged for being friends with Valenti on FB.
January 28th, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
Imaginary neg?
January 28th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
Not much to say. Terms like “complete embarassment” and “lowpoint of last 13 years” just don’t do it justice.
Who’s to blame? Everyone. Yes even Tom terrific.
The players fail to realize you destroy a legacy faster than you build it. Barring a miracle this group will be remembered more for directing the biggest letdown of the Izzo era rather than a pair of Final Fours.
Sad part is I’m not convinced some of them care.
As for Tom, maybe its time to turn to the future. Commit to talent like Payne, Sherman and Nix. Results be damned.
Also shorten the bench. Enough Kebler and Thornton. Its ridiculous…especially during a run.
Congrats to the Wolverines. Big win. Spartan fans need to pipe down even only for a day. We got punked.
Hope former players weren’t watching…oh wait they were courtside.

Thank goodness for the NBA draft. Prevents any sort of actual team unity developing up in EL. It's all about the $$$.

At least Foster is having fun with Valenti drops...
January 28th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
Maybe 97.1 kept him off the radio on purpose so today's show isn't wash. Yes, Valenti is a big talker but I don't think he's scared of Michigan fans calling in. I don't agree with all of his opinions but I do respect him. Valenti's job is to get people riled up for the sake of radio and quite frankly he's very good at his job. Terry Foster was supposed to be the star of the show when it started but Velenti made it his show.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:23 PM ^
In other words, just another loudmouth punk meathead always throwing his weight around who disappears when he (or his favorite team) gets his ass kicked.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
always with his finger on the pulse of pop culture.
January 28th, 2011 at 3:04 PM ^
heh... as long as you define "pop culture" as what happened prior to 1960.
January 28th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
Could not have said it better myself.
"loudmouth punk meathead" is . . . perfect.

I believe we've earned an on-air rant. Maybe we'll get one when we beat them a second time in A2.

Valenti wasn't the only no show today. I live about 15 min from E.L so I have to deal with a lot of sparties. They all where very quite today. It was the best day at work after a game in a long time !!!!!
January 28th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
i hate that guy about as much as anyone ever. If I ever got the chance to take a swing on him I would. What a spineless pussy.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Word is Valenti called up Mayojuana, bought a sack, and has been high ever since. Took today as a personal day.
January 28th, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
He's not dumb, he knows you all tuned in today to hear him. So he got hits today. And now you will all tune in to hear him tomorrow since he didn't speak today, he got twice the hits.
