Harris is 4 of 11 with 9 points and is their leading scorer.
UPDATE: Nebraska wins, 60-51.
We're not lucky enough for Nebraska to pull this off. Are we?
But...it is 2014 and all. So, there's always a chance.
It would be an awesome Sparty, No! moment if they derped away the gift we just gave them.
But waaaay too soon for upset alerts.
Way to early for this thread.
Why the FUCK would you post this? Neg this man
Superstitious people annoy me...
Chill the hell out. If MSU comes back and wins this game it certainly won't be due to this thread.
Thanks for the heads up OP, some of us were not aware the game was on right now. I will turn it on.
State will most likely pull away and win convincingly.
The reverse jinx worked, you're welcome guys.
Nebraska still looks good but there's still 12 min to go. 6 pt game now.
So much for the upset alert. Sparty is lucky the didn't play a good team today.
Remember the "Nebraska is smoking Ohio State" thread a couple weeks ago? Nebraska won that game too. Let's change the thread title to "Nebraska smoking Sparty".
Some weak ass calls on Nebraska, especially when going for loose balls.
sparty refs rearing their heads
7 fouls on Nebraska and 0 on MSU. If it were more consistent Nebraska would be up by 10.
Nebraska is shooting 9-16 from the FT line. They have shot 8 more FTs than MSU on the road. I don't think officiating is the problem right now.
That's because Nebraska was attacking the basket. + there are two halves. There were 3 calls in a row on Nebraska going for 50/50 loose balls where there was no foul, including a steal after an MSU defensive rebound.
Either way, it was only a 4 point difference in score lol I was more upset when Sparty got in the bonus with 11 minutes to play.
Named Kaminsky/Kaminski today
Tim miles is a really good basketball coach. Nebraska is going to be good in 2-3 years.
That would be great! I like Tim Miles. He seems like a good dude.
Miles is my favorite non-Beilein B1G coach.
why they do not go to Payne EVERY play. Either a puppy or he moves it around off the double team for an open three.
just drained a huge three
Fouled Harris on a desperation 3. Awful.
fucking hell that dumb foul will cost them
Is content allowing Sparty to come back and win by bailing them out and just forcing up long bullshit jumpers every possession
All 3 pointers and long 2s. Petteway is the biggest culprit, but he has been forced into some of them by the shot clock.
I don't know how he's made a few of them.
Nebraska needs to attach the rim and the refs need to call fouls.
I'm no expert when it comes to basketball rules, but attaching yourself to the rim seems like it would be goaltending.
Seems to me the strategy is as follows:
1. Deny him the ball. This will work a little bit, and requires tight defense on the ball handler.
2. Immediately double to him if he gets the ball inside about 10 feet or so.
3. Work your butts off to follow the kicked ball around to the open guy.
4. Try hard to get him in foul trouble. Earlier is better.
This is a whole lot of list that we haven't yet done well.
Petteway! Dude is money.
about anyone else. What about are NBA "ready" line-up. That was a disgrace at home. Lavert is a stud.
What the hell are you trying to say?
Nebraska is just not playing smart enough to win this game. Offensive strategy: avoid the area inside the 3 PT line like the plague. Defensive strategy: foul badly.
I'm tempering my excitement...but it's getting hard.
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Come on Nebraska, close this baby out!
It feels good to be the little bastard that just won't go away (in the Big Ten standings that is)
bad shot selection for Spartoons. Huskers by 7 with :45
Well this game is over. Good effort Staee
Edit: They just call it a 1 and 1 out of nowhere lol
MSU ball again
and Sparty says "no, thanks."
Nebraska should be on the bubble list now.
Nebraska just bailed us out so hard.
Wow! Didn't see this coming. Great work Petteway and Nebraska.
Still tied! Lets take care of business next weekend.
why on a shooting foul was nebraska only given a 1 and 1 and after missing the refs talked about it and gave ball to msu?
Thank you Nebraska.
Sparty must be hurt.
So much for a two-team race for the title. Iowa now just a game back.
Yeah, no one standing out in the conference. Michigan had their chances to pull away but lost to Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
They said State was glued to the TV before the game, watching Mich lose. Maybe they should have been, you know, focusing on preparing for their own damn game. Thanks guys!
Karma is a BITCH
dawson is still out. he's worth at least a 10 pt difference, right?
...at Breslin, yet.
Thank you Nebraska!!!
didn't take care of business ourselves. We should be a game up.
I would contend we should be up 2 games sitting at 12-1. There's no reason we should've lost @IU and at home to Wisconsin today.
Sadly, this makes me angry about how much better Michigan's situation could be if they hadn't shit the bed today. Oh well, I guess, as far as the race against State is concerned, this day now never happened. Just win, baby...
Just think of it as one of those butterfly effect things.
Thank you Nebraska!
OK, let's rest up and play a great game next Sunday to seize control.
sparty. rcmb check it out
This week: Beat Ohio State (68-62); Beat Illinois (67-58)
Thing: This appeared on my television screen last night. On the Big Ten Network. For serious.
In case you can't read the top bar, it really does say "NCAA Tournament Resume." If the question is, “does a 15 or 16 win team with a single top-100 non-conference win and a 7-11 or 8-10 record in conference make the NCAA tournament?” the answer is “Trololololo.”
Still, the fact that the BTN can even run such a graphic shows how far Tim Miles has taken this team. And how much peyote is apparently available in BTN Headquarters.
Thing they are like: An NIT tournament team, which, hey, that’s not terrible if you’re Nebraska.
That Nebraska win earlier in the year looks better and better...
We have two of them. This conference is just weird.
Also, if Nebraska gets to at least 9-9 they should definitely get a bid though it could be close. If they get to 10-8 which seems very possible they should be a lock.
hell of a tough place to hang on when the comeback starts. Petteway was just unreal in the second half. Wow.
Other than Nebraska winning, obviously, was Izzo complaining that Payne WASN'T called for a charge because Nebraska got to go into transition on the rebound.
that Payne is still a little bit hurt.
that Payne is still a little bit hurt.
Sets up a big show down in AA next week. I'm expecting two different teams than the ones that played today. Big Ten is just tough.
Here are some of the stats for this game -
Michigan State eFG% - 39.00%
Nebraska eFG% - 44.34%
Michigan State OREB% - 25.71%
Nebraska OREB - 25.00%
Michigan State - FTR - 25.00%
Nebraska FTR - 39.62%
Compare also MSU's 11 turnovers to Nebraska's 5, which leads to an A/T ratio of 2.00 for the Cornhuskers and 0.909 for MSU.
Lucky break. Next Sunday is huge, obviously.
Perfect for those losers. F State.
Well this sure sets up an interesting game next week!
Look forward to next sunday and a possible two game lead. Purdues gonna give em fits at home.
Is the conference just that good top to bottom, or is it just just having a down year?
It's like the SEC in football . . . nobody ever really knows for sure.
We could all be gladiators beating each other up, or we could all just be crap. Who knows at this point?
We were all certainly aware of their fb prowess under Tom and their not unlike Michigan slide after his retirement. But since joining the BIG, national, not just regional t.v. viewers have witnessed some tremendous comebacks and pride demonstrated when defending their home field in fb, I can recall 4 games when I considered turning the station at half-time, and in each they came back from large deficits to win. That stuff plays well with recruits. Now they're taking down perennial powers in bb? Must admit was a little worried about their academics when they joined, but they agreed to and have made great strides in improvement in that regard. And they're making noise athletically in sports we really didn't predict. Might prove as beneficial for conference as it has for them.
This is good for them. I'm sure they had their doubts when they traded storied rivalries with Oklahoma and Texas for losses to Northwestern and Iowa.
They'll hold their own in the B1G West in football, and they have a whole new sport to get behind in basketball. And they're no longer the Big Ten noob with Maryland and Rutgers joining.
I'll be the Michigan fan stomping around Ann Arbor in my Nebraska toque this week.
Not to be confused with the Nebraska Cornhead, which is never worn outside of the home.
Iowa is only a game back too, and has firmly re-entered regular season title contention.
So very, very sad
sweet! Thanks mgoblog. I'm without tv.
