DAMMIT!!!
Covid sucks, year three...
*Yersinia pestis, "Hold my beer"*
January 8th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
At this point, it is less Covid and more those refusing to get vaccinated.
January 8th, 2022 at 2:40 PM ^
Yikes

Here is the official release from mgoblue.com. And to clarify from my title....the release says POSTPONED and not canceled.
Wolverines Game with Michigan State Postponed - University of Michigan Athletics (mgoblue.com)

Thanks for pointing out that important clarification, in particular for those who didn't or won't click your link. Being a rivalry game and that there's plenty of time to reschedule, I'd be very surprised if we don't see some schedule adjustments very soon.
January 8th, 2022 at 10:40 AM ^
While the Title said postponed, the article stated the game would be rescheduled
January 8th, 2022 at 7:14 AM ^
Yeah according to the press release they had fewer than 7 scholarship players available. Yikes.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:18 AM ^
Can we cancel the rest of the season?
January 8th, 2022 at 7:20 AM ^
lol good question!
January 8th, 2022 at 7:23 AM ^
Literally just bought tickets last night. Shouldve waited. Sigh
January 8th, 2022 at 9:37 AM ^
When they cancelled the Fort Wayne game it was really easy to get the refund through StubHub and the athletic office. The only difference here will be you'll have to wait and see if they reschedule probably.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:25 AM ^
Everywhere I’ve read says postponed
January 8th, 2022 at 7:30 AM ^
Yep, you're correct. It's postponed, not canceled. I'd update the title if I could.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:26 AM ^
If it doesn't get rescheduled, I'm going to remember this, Villari-style, as the game when Jace Howard had 32 points and 17 rebounds in a 20-point win for Michigan.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:47 AM ^
Man, whatever’s in your coffee must be dynamite.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:33 AM ^
Excellent timing. I’m sure Sparty slappies will be making a stink (i.e. our football cancellation with OSU the prior season)
January 8th, 2022 at 7:35 AM ^
Oh they're already howling about this on Twitter....."ducking" them.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:36 AM ^
Little bro is so easy to predict
January 8th, 2022 at 9:03 AM ^
They're such a sniveling, whiney bunch.
January 8th, 2022 at 7:35 AM ^
<duplicate post>
January 8th, 2022 at 8:08 AM ^
Fans of the team who finished second last season are also in on it
January 8th, 2022 at 8:57 AM ^
of course they are...like clockwork!
January 8th, 2022 at 7:38 AM ^
January 8th, 2022 at 7:42 AM ^
I’m thinking that Tuesday vs Purdue is unlikely too?
January 8th, 2022 at 8:03 AM ^
The five day quarantine might help, but it is certainly possible. This was kind of the stretch of games that could have revived tourney hopes so this is pretty disastrous. Far fetched but two top 20 home games was an opportunity.
January 8th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
I think it would be good experience for the guys who got to play. Oh, well...
January 8th, 2022 at 8:55 AM ^
MSU fans reaction to this is so typical. They'd rather play Michigan walk ons, almost certainly get a covid outbreak as a result, and miss multiple games than not play us because we're they're fucking super bowl. Their little brother syndrome is endemic
January 8th, 2022 at 10:28 AM ^
Well the team obviously isn't playing well, but this is not going to help.
Not having meaningful practices, and potentially postponing multiple games.
Looking at a compressed schedule moving forward, and the BIG is looking brutal if 100% healthy.
Outlook for the season getting bleak.
January 8th, 2022 at 11:30 AM ^
The hockey team playing a game between 2 games they canceled a week ago doesn't help optics!
January 8th, 2022 at 11:32 AM ^
Yes the optics will affect the basketball teams trajectory during the season. I see where you’re going with that.
January 8th, 2022 at 11:34 AM ^
They canceled just one game against Western right?
January 8th, 2022 at 12:48 PM ^
That is like saying There is major Covid numbers in New York so there must be major numbers in all the adjoining states.
I am not certain but it seems to me that they probably run in different circles. They probably train in different facilities. They probably do not even see each other on campus. Dot dot dot
January 8th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
Well, it does give me some extra time today, if nothing else....
January 8th, 2022 at 10:30 AM ^
...More time to nuke unsubstantiated posts about tweets about Harbaugh.
January 8th, 2022 at 11:40 AM ^
What are the odds that the season cannot be fully completed?
Do they fully vaccinate the entire basketball program?
January 8th, 2022 at 11:42 AM ^
1. About 50/50
2. Mostly, but not fully.
January 8th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
2. Mostly, but not fully.
That sounds like a Brady Hoke quote.
January 8th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
I thought that Howard said prior to the season start that the players and staff were fully vaccinated.

I didn't realize how badly I needed answers to this question!!
January 8th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
I hope that all of our Michigan basketball players can overcome this and get back to full health very soon.
I'll share with you what a few sparty fans said at my local gym this morning that we were ducking them and just like we ducked ohio state in the 2020 football season. I gave that guy a dirty look and was ready to pounce but he didn't bite. (FWIW)

We may have ducked OSU in 2020, but Sparty definitely should have ducked them in 2021...
January 8th, 2022 at 12:32 PM ^
As someone who is currently dealing with a COVID outbreak at home, it's no fun and anyone saying a team is trying to duck MSU is full of shit. Yes, everyone's vaccinated so it's relatively mild but it's absolutely serious enough that you don't want to expose others to getting sick either.
And I know it may be hard for some MSU fans to accept but it's probably good that MSU isn't playing a team with an outbreak; per OSU MSU played a bunch of guys with the flu in their game and that led to OSU's defense forgetting how to play football for 1.75 games. MSU getting an outbreak could absolutely put their season in jeopardy for a week or two.
January 8th, 2022 at 12:42 PM ^
Mild but serious ??
January 8th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
Seriously mild
