Tucker Contract Extension

Did anyone know if Tucker's contact extension has been signed and sealed? If not,  do you think MSU may want to reconsider following yesterday's performance?

Red Lock this. Although if he actually hasn’t signed it, that does seem odd. We know he is all about himself and had no trouble screwing over Colorado after one season.

He never denied interest in LSU or USC so even though it takes weeks to get them drawn up, should he get interest from an open SEC job he may vary well take it and bolt.  That said, if you watched how he coached you’d say that team is easily almost .500 and closer to .500 than to a big ten title….

There's probably been enough threads on this, but I, for one, have not stopped laughing yet.

It sucks that our boys got robbed, but all of their goals are still ahead of them, and sweet, SWEET justice was administered yesterday.

I chose not to think about next week at all and allowed myself to bask in the hilarity. Let's give a big round of applause for Little Man Mel and what is most-likely the most fraudulent team we've ever seen in our time spectating this sport.

True but I think yesterday might give them some pause. If they look at the UM game they should realize they really did t win that game either and have pulled a few games out of their ass. I can’t believe everyone thinks Mel is such a great coach  If you dive into his career none of it is really that impressive

Like it or not, doesn’t matter how he did it or if the refs or a pandemic played a role, he beat the one team his fan base wants him to beat his first two years as coach at MSU.

If any Michigan coach beat MSU and OSU his first two years and they gave that coach a $15 million a year extension…I’d be like “Sounds reasonable.”.

Lol, I’m sure if we beat MSU and lost to Nothwestern and Rutgers and had a losing record in the first year, you’d be all for giving that coach a 10 year contract. In this fantasy scenario, we would also have to be down 49-0 at halftime to someone like PSU. Yep, that’s the guy you would think it sounds reasonable to give a 10 year contract to

They should reconsider.  They were high on early polling.
What if they lose to psu as well?

and then their bowl game?

we were waiting for them to Sparty and this may be the beginning.

I can’t believe I’m about to stick up for MSU …again… but here goes. If you are “waiting for them to Sparty” good luck. Who has been more “Sparty” than MSU in recent history? Our very own boys in Maize and Blue. Are we really going to pound our chests that they lost 56-7? The only thing I’m happy about from that result is that it gave Michigan a chance to get back into the title contention fold.

What Ryan Day did is what Michigan tried to do but with maximum efficiency which is attack MSU’s terrible no good secondary. Do you know what Ryan Day is going to do with Michigan? Try to attack ruthlessly any weakness in Michigan’s D which may be the running game. OSU is way too talented and has beaten the crap out of Michigan for so long. I don’t need to tell you that.  The only real chance we have in this game is for the home crowd to really play a factor and for Michigan to have an A+ game across the board.

I just wish you all would realize “Sparty Gonna Sparty” is history and OSU beating them doesn’t change that.

“Sparty Gonna Sparty”

If there's one thing you can count on, it's Sparty will eventually Sparty.  Hell they did it this year versus a Purdue team that Ohio State routed soon after.  Mel Tucker struck gold this year, but now the smoke and mirrors have blown away and revealed his team for what they are, a good but not great team with a massive, seismic, dumpster fire of a weakness.

Mel might be a decent coach (still only 16-13 as a head coach, with their best win this year being a an utter fraud of a victory).  I personally am glad they wanna lock him down.  They come to Ann Arbor next year and their roster is gonna look way different (they lose pretty much all of their best defensive players and of course KWIII and possibly one of their top WR's).  We'll have the squad back almost in its entirety on offense.  It'll be a rout for the ages to show Mel where he really stands in the B1G East pecking order.

A rout for the ages is wishful thinking. The last rout came in 2019 when Mark Dantonio’s tenure was in its death rattle. Otherwise it’s either been a nail biter or MSU wins outright.

Since 2008, MSU leads the rivalry 10-4 spanning two coaching regimes.

But, you’re right. Maybe next year is when they’ll turn back into a pumpkin.

Since 2008, MSU leads

What is this fixation with 2008?   Michigan football history starts with Rich Rodriguez?

The series is 2-2 the last four years and 3-3 the last six.  That's irritating enough (MSU's three wins are by 11 points) as it is.

Tucker was 7-12 as a head coach entering this season.  Maybe that was the fluke and this year isn't, but I'm not sure how sustainable their success this year is.    I doubt he'll find guys like Walker in the transfer portal on a regular basis, and teams that get outgained half the time don't normally end up winning 80%.

But that actually happened under Dantonio. You even mentioned it in one of your posts. They went 3-9 and then Dantonio resigned in disgrace after being pulled into a lawsuit by one of his own coaches. Dantonio managed to win at least 11 games in 5 out of 6 years. The year before that streak they had a losing record. The year in the middle of that they needed a bowl win in the BDubs bowl to finish with a winning record. The year after that streak they went 3-9 after making the playoffs the previous year. They “Sparty No’ed” quite a bit and I didn’t even mention them getting shellacked in the playoffs

You know what MSU has done that Michigan hasn't? Gone to the college football playoff. Yeah, they got killed by Alabama but they at least made it to the thing.

You know what Mark Dantonio did that Jim Harbaugh hasn't yet? Win 11 games in a season. I'm just saying Michigan fans like to pretend as though MSU is nothing but their recent history has a better track record than Michigan's.

“Otherwise it’s either been a nail biter or MSU wins outright.”

Huh? Harbaugh has beaten Sparty 3 times by a combined score of 57 points (closest margin 9 points in 2016 in the “Dantonio goes for a completely cosmetic TD and 2pt play, Peppers laughs and returns the 2pt try” game).

Sparty has won 4 times, by a total margin of  11 points (closest margin 3, largest margin 4), including the Trouble With the Punt game and the ref job this year. Who is winning nail biters in this rivalry again?

Nail biters or MSU wins outright? I think you have that reversed. Since Harbaugh has been here:

The punt game: them by four.

Michigan wins by 9.

Sparty wins by 4 in Tsunami game.

Michigan wins by 14.

Michigan wins by 34.

Sparty wins by 3 in Covid year.

Sparty wins by 4 in controversial/improbable fashion.
