Treadwell

Watching Ole Miss beating Alabama on the road is music to me ears! Treadwell is a beast!I wish we could've reeled him in. There isn't a team that cannot be beaten. Any thoughts on the game!

I can't stand Saban, but he's proven...I would prefered he beat Ole Miss, because I can't stand that program...I can't stand Alabama either, but if they win, it's just "meh" because it's expected. I don't want to hear talking heads rave about Mississippi. Ick.

Yeah, I'm not too big on Ole Miss' plantation owner mascot, or that, until the practices were very recently banned, they loved waving confederate battle flags in the stands and screaming "The South will rise again" as their band played the fight song on the Glade. And, oh yeah, THEY CHEAT BIG TIME. To hell with Ole Miss.

"Ole Miss cheats too."

Exactly how do you know this and who else are you referring too? Alabama?

Too many posters on the website frequently make references to cheaters and SEC bag men. While I'm not so naive as to think that no cheating ever takes place anywhere, inside the SEC or elsewhere, where is the proof with your specific allegation?

Hell, one idiot poster recently referenced Tom Izzo and MSU basketball ratcheting up their recruiting efforts this year via cheating. Like Izzo needs to cheat all of a sudden to have some success.

So Ols Miss is recruiting well all of a sudden with their relatively new coach and we missed out on Treadwell. THAT means he/they are cheating? Maybe he's a helluva recruiter, a good coach with a good staff, and that Oxford is a nice place to live and go to school for 4-5 years.

So Harbaugh is recruiting pretty well so far at Michigan after a 5-7 season and a less than distinguished run post Carr. Should we be suspicious????

It's going to be over four full hours between kickoff to final whistle. One thing I've noticed is these refs take FOREVER to set the ball after first downs, especially when Bama has possession.

These refs are brutal. That was an illegal tip and they didn't even review it. They've been in the bag for Bama all night.

People want to root for him because he almost chose M I guess (whatever that even means)

He chose getting paid, and doesn't even care to hide it.  i don't begrudge a kid getting paid because they deserve some money, but I certainly don't have to root for him, when others just as deserving abide by the rules.  Screw Treadwell, screw Hugh Freeze, screw a bunch of redneck racist  bigoted hillbilly confederates (and yes, I realize that applies to both sides in this game).

Pretty sure labeling two entire states as redneck racist hillbilly confederate kettles counts as bigotry there, Mr. Pot.

But yeah, Treadwell turned us down for cash money, when we got guys like Denard who were offered that stuff and decided to play clean. I see no reason to root for him, even if he does make Saban sad.

And if you're a smug college kid looking to safely spout negative stereotypes about underprivileged people as long as they are white, you could do a lot worse than Ann Arbor. Lol.

In seriousness though, I've found the South rather more complex than that. First off, rural people in Michigan don't have particularly more enlightened racial views than people in the South, so glass houses etc. Second, your average southern white dude seems simultaneously more likely to openly say something really racist/insensitive and more likely to have frequent positive/friendly interactions with individual African Americans.

But I'm getting dangerously political so I'll stop. Mostly I just get annoyed by "haha making fun of poor white people is so funny, amirite?" attitudes. I like being Michigan Arrogant, just not like that.

****disclaimer: not a political statement**** very true about rural michigan, having come from a small town. That also makes me entitled to berate poor white trash. Just drive along US-12 less than 20 miles west of ann arbor, you'll see yard sales with confederate flags and even the county fair will sell them. They're all over the state but you conflate "positive/friendly interaction" with something like fear of conflict. These small towns that are 98% white are not going to allow their kids to have a black friend, and in the south very many of the established families, even the more wealthy ones, might have friendly interaction with but would never invite a black coworker to dinner.
