Big Ten football power the University of Michigan will bring its coaching staff to Old Dominion next year to help the Monarchs host a summer camp for high school players.
Coach Bobby Wilder said he reached out nearly a month ago to first-year Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and that they have spoken about half a dozen times since.
“We really wanted to do one this summer but just couldn’t get a date that worked for both of us,” Wilder said.
That area helped Tech become a national player.
That area also gave the world Missy Elliott, N.E.R.D., and Allen Iverson. Hampton Roads forever.

...and my education.
Totally random, but did anyone else notice that Gentry received Damario Jones' number? Obviously Jones could just change numbers but I'm thinking he may not be back.

OHH!!! EBOLA!
1. Hopefully these camps are still going next year, but it will be interesting to see if the NCAA buckles to the SEC or not.
2. Can this staff - or whoever is on staff next year - keep up this pace every summer? That will be impressive, but also must be taxing on the coaches
3. Its been mentioned that these camps are essentially building pipelines to talent rich schools, bit it will be interesting to see if they do in fact go back to the same schools or if they make the rounds to different schools.
4. Its also nice to see the staff on the mid-atlantic, which has been a pretty strong producer of college talent.
I don't think the NCAA can buckle. I'm pretty sure that they would need a majority of colleges to agree to a rule change, and they don't ahve that kind of support.
I'm not sure what the mechanism would be to get the camps banned, but if what you say is true then it shouldn't be an issue.
As I recall, this is indeed one of those things that the Power 5 could take on as a legislative item all their own, the SEC could propose a ban and then it would go for a vote. I don't recall whether or not these would require a majority or supermajority, but I doubt the SEC would get the votes for either level.
I don't know if these satelitte camps are an issue where the Power 5 has autonomy, but IF they did .....
to change the rules, you need one of these two things:
(1) 60% votes from the 65 schools + 15 player reps (48 out of 80), and 60% votes (3 out of 5) of the 5 conferences.
OR
(2) 51% votes from the 65 schools, + 15 player reps (41 out of 80), and 80% votes (4 out of 5) of the 5 conferences.
I do think the SEC could get 3 votes from the conferences (them + ACC + Big XII). Could they get 60% of the schools (leaving the player reps out of this for simplicity)? E.g., 39 of 65.
Probably not.
Figure the SEC's block would be ~ 13 SEC schools (I could see the likes of Kentucky liking satelitte camps), 0 B1G schools, 9 or so ACC schools, and 6 Big XII schools (the southern schools). That's still only 28. Even with the Pac-12 out there, hard to see where you get 11 more.
Hopefully, they signed a 12-year contract to hold camps at Prattville. Maybe they can add one in Mobile or Andalusia next summer.
HARBAUGH SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HARBAUGH SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!! HARBAUGH SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He'll have a ring to show off at the camp next year.
Louisiana and Georgia are other talent rich areas we could exploit.
Can the NCAA possibly control international camps? Was the prison football game a camp and we didn't know it? Harbaugh will figure out a way to get it done. Harbaugh.
Nice. I wrote earlier this week if these things arent banned by then we need that D.C/Virginia area next year. NJ too.
I feel like this is where I should put the Howard Dean clip as he yells out state by state and infuse Harbaugh's travel plans for 2016.
We have not had an recruit out of North Carolina since a few kids from Lloyd Carr's recruiting class. I think they should do a satellite camp from there.
Channing Stribling out of Butler High School. Same school as Greg Mathews & Jamar Adams if I remember correctly.
is out of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida.
Butler High School is IN Matthews, NC.
I wonder which Old Dominion player Harbaugh is targeting at this camp.

Two states that we increased our presence in under Hoke was New Jersey and Virginia. Looks like we've done a good job with NJ after Peppers with potentially getting Gary, Mitchell, and Hawkins. Virginia has been quieter.
The state of Virginia must have a rock-solid 2 star recruit that we're aiming for because why else would we schedule this camp at ODU?

The northeast/ Mid Atlantic regions really need 3-4 camps since there are so many kids in the area.

thinks Michigan is a Big 10 football "power." So there's that.
Very cool . . . my daughter lives 5 minutes from there (a sailor on a destroyer, living off base in Norfolk.) I may just have to visit her and go to the camp.
Happily moving to DC/VA this year. I will be there in my maize and blue regalia. Also looking forward to the game at MD this year. I haven't seen a game in person since the Citrus Bowl against Arkansas back in 1999. What a team - Brady, Streets, A-Train, Dhani Jones and even Wododson showed up from the NFL to lead the band. I am stoked like I can't even splain Lucy.
