Stupid Sexy Grbac

Funny, random piece in The Athletic about my favorite Michigan QB of all time (tied with Harbaugh), Elvis Grbac.  For those who don't know, Elvis was named People Magazine's Sexiest Athlete Alive in 1998, when he played for the Chiefs.  Nobody was more surprised than Elvis, who said "There's guys in that locker room that are 10 times better looking than I am."  As it turns out, it was a mistake--it was supposed to be his backup, Rich Gannon.  The conspiracy theory is as follows:  Grbac was the starting QB for KC in '97, then broke his collarbone.  Rich Gannon stepped in.  Long story short, the People Magazine people were trying to pick the McDreamy of the athletic world, and someone said that the QB for KC was really hot.  By the time they got their act together, Grbac had recovered and was starting again, but People's people just shrugged and took pics of the "KC QB", which was Grbac.  But it was actually supposed to be Stupid Sexy Gannon.

Love me some Elvis.

Presley, Wolcott and Grbac. All legends in their own right.

I would name a kid Elvis, if the mom was willing.

This is hilarious. Great post. When I was about 8, my 1st ever favorite NFL team was the Chiefs.

I knew nothing about them at the time except that their quarterback went to Michigan.
