Stuff Someone's Dad Said
I can't believe some of the things that come out of the mouths of 'fans' at the stadium. This is a small sample that is mostly attributed to 3 older (late 40s-60s) men behind me in Section 25:
- Unbelievable! (200x any play >6 yds for UI and anything <3 yards for UM)
- Run it outside! (100x almost every run play)
- Why do we run up the middle?! There's all that space to the outside. (ignoring 257 yds rushing)
- We don’t have any mooses out there. (right before calling “Koker” a moose)
- Run play-action, it’ll work every time!
- Dumbass #1: Oh, ESPN is here.
Dumbass #2: It’s probably on ESPNU or something.
Dumbass #1: I don’t know, Illinois is good this year. Maybe they’re here to see them!
- He kicked it out of bounds?! What an idiot! Now they get the ball at the 35!
- Then you see a guy like Ingram and how do you let him get out of your back yard?
- We don’t even have a kicker this year. We always have a good kicker!
- Take that kid’s scholarship away! There needs to be consequences for playing like that.
- If this is on #77, you better call security because I’m going to go down there and strangle that kid. He's horrible! (Hold on Lewan, not one step toward the field. Wuss!)
I just don't get it. Can someone explain it to me? Anything to add?

Since attendance was 110,000. And late. Over half the student section missed our 1st TD. And a quarter didn't catch the end of the 1st quarter.

Traffic was brutal on 94
November 8th, 2010 at 10:43 AM ^
Because that could have been the difference between missing 14 or 28 points in that game...
November 6th, 2010 at 10:22 PM ^
If it was just that, then sure. These are supposed to be Michigan fans.. They came to the game and started bitching before the opening kick. Its impact is totally negative. Do they really think they'd leave GERG in the locker room at the half? If they did it would've been a shame because that 2nd half D was good enough to win with and almost just good (Overtimes were a different story).

Sounds pretty typical from the many knowledgable coaches we have in the stands. I hear this kind of stuff in my section as well.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
Out of that many people, there are bound to be people who are spectacularly idioitic, heck, look at some of the people on this board.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
who was all "HEY HEY HEY HEY HEYYY" every minute of every game? (maybe he's still there) anyway. at the iowa game i was a near a fan who was like that with: "GET HIM GET HIM!"
no joke, every play...if someone was nearby to tackle it was "get him" and if he missed it was "SHIT" and then, if someone else came near it was "get him!" and if he missed it was "SHIT".
so considering the way the d played against iowa almost every play was something like this:
"GET HIM GET HIM! SHIIIIT! GET HIM GET HIM!!!!!!!! SHIT! GET HIM"
with the occasional:
"GET HIM YAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
but seriously 100% of plays had "get him" in it Not a bad fan or anything, so not really related to what you're talking about, but good lord how do you scream the same phrase every single play, good or bad?
EDIT- dude, I lost like a hundred points tonight to points expiring. I must have said something super hilarious a year ago today.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
I'd completely forgotten about the HEY HEY HEY guy. I liked that guy.
November 6th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
"Ho..." guy?..... Now that would get annoying.....
November 7th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
You weren't in section 19 at the Iowa game, were you? I said Get him a few times, but there was a kid next to me so I couldn't say 'shit' in front of a kid. I heard the same guy, and an altercation with a down in fronter. The guy in front told the DIF guy to watch the game from his couch if he wanted to sit down.
November 7th, 2010 at 12:23 AM ^
the guy who said "GET HIM GET HIM GET HIM GET HIIIIIM shIEIEIETET!"
was def just one guy, and def not you.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
Has said stupid stuff like that the last couple years. I think that Michigan fans that are unable to access alternative media outlets are left to read, and believe, what the newspapers print. My father has been a U of M fan his entire life, but has no real clue about the sanctions, the injuries, or recruiting beyond what he reads from the Freep articles. It's irritating but I guess his generation is used to newspapers printing credible information...go figure.

That's why you send me links to the decimated defense diaries and MGoBlog posts like I do my dad.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
I've been to games all over the country and you have pretty much summed up the home team's fans.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
is why these people pay 100s of dollars to sit in the stands and be miserable. Stay the fuck home and let some actual fans of the program attend the game.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
They paid 100s of dollars, so maybe they think that entitles them to a home game experience without any UNACCEPTABLE content?
November 6th, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
I had a drunk lady about 5 rows back of my dad and I that kept calling for Jim Harbaugh for most of the game. Finally someone said to her, "Why do you come if you aren't going to cheer for this team, its players and their coaches." Needless to say she was quiet most of the overtime.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
I would've done the same thing as that guy. Course it would've sounded more like "Shut the F*ck up!" but that might be because I'm a dick (literally, my name is Richard).
November 6th, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
your awfuly pretty Richard.
November 7th, 2010 at 1:17 AM ^

November 6th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
November 6th, 2010 at 10:31 PM ^
Sure. I wish the "fans" would somehow find mgoblog and see themselves referred to as "dumbass#1" and "dumbass#2." As if they could understand it anyway.
November 6th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
Let's see. 1 person out of 100,000.
That would be like .001 %
Do you know how many fracking idiots still think Iraq had something to do with 9/11?
(15%)
November 6th, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
Don't take it personal, he ain't talkin bout' you. By the way did you enjoy the rendition of the Bed Intruder song?
November 6th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
I go to games to cheer on the team, do what little I can to help them win, and enjoy watching football. Instead, I spend more than half listening to grown men offer up idiotic play-calling, threaten 18 year old kids that would break them in half, and call for coaching changes immediately because this system won't work in the Big Ten. All while they follow the team in a very casual sense.
Frack them for making me almost wish I stayed home today!
November 7th, 2010 at 12:19 AM ^
WAIT! There's a New Mexico now?
November 6th, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
for the most part , but when it came to setbacks was quite vociferous as well. When Tate came out and took a 'whoop!' his first play, he just went off on Coach Rod, telling him to go home to Virginia, lol...
November 6th, 2010 at 10:43 PM ^
I have a guy behind me in section 2 who has been calling for Les Miles for at least one and one half years. My favorite in the Big House is the guy that claims that Denard was recruited by Carr and that RR lucked into him. My alltime favorite (and this is relevant to Michigan) is the guy at the Palace who was watching Jimmy Jackson (from tOSU) and kept saying he was one of the Fab Five (thinking of Ray Jackson).

Of the people in any of the sections we sit...I suspect maybe 5 percent (likely a lot less) access any media or outlets other than MSM or crappy talk radio. Some, not many, might listen to WTKA and get Sam/Ira's take...but hell, listening to their callers pretty much sums up what you'll get on any given Saturday.
November 6th, 2010 at 11:23 PM ^
I knew I was in trouble when a 10 year old sitting behind me screamed "UNACCEPTABLE!" on Illinois' 2nd play from scrimmage.
November 6th, 2010 at 11:37 PM ^
i'm in section 25 and three guys in michigan gear had orange poster boards with "fire rich rod" written in black marker. probably the same three guys, they left when we were winning in the 3rd/4th.
November 6th, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
This post is the reason why I did not go to the game today. The complainers actually ruin it for me. I know, I know, it's my problem if I can't tune them out and they paid too, but STFU if you have no clue about the game. And PALEASE don't tell me that "RR doesn't have a clue". That is the guy behind us every Saturday.
November 7th, 2010 at 1:21 AM ^
UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!1!!!!!11one!!!!!!

November 7th, 2010 at 1:42 AM ^
I must sit in the honorary "Tate Forcier is GARBAGE" section at the Big House, because people were calling for Tate to transfer even before he had that awful fumble...then it just got nasty.
I just hope they choked on their tongues when that "useless" QB led us to an epic win.
What a bunch of Morans!
November 7th, 2010 at 3:16 AM ^
Are you telling me there's ignorant, arrogant, asshole fans at a sporting event? Hol-ee-shit.
November 7th, 2010 at 8:29 PM ^
You do know that much of the commentary at the Big House is tongue in cheek? Right?
