I'd be willing to argue that

I'd be willing to argue that a large portion of why Scott Schafer was fired was because an incensed alumni base. Obviously, RR should be faulted for hiring GERG, but I personally believe if Schafer were around, RR would still be around.

Schafer wasn't fired because he was a bad coach; Schafer was fired because we went 3-9 and heads needed to roll, and you couldn't fire the brand new coach. It was stupid.

No one in college football

No one in college football has deserved the death penalty except for SMU. Until we see a program run rampant like SMU did (and I don't think we ever will again), we won't, and shouldn't, see the death penalty.

Why do I feel like Tate is

Why do I feel like Tate is only telling half-truths here? This kid hasn't exactly been forthcoming or honest before, and his family is known for media antics. That, and the whole thing just sounds kinda fishy... how did he just "take care" of his incompletes?

I think Tate's starting to paint himself as the victim here, when he really, he turned his back on the school and the team before they did to him. Simply put, I don't believe the kid.

Lol. You're wrong. Friend him on FB. There's pictures of him with weed, coke, and condoms (hey, at least he's practicing safe sex!) in the background. None that I saw with a gun, but I haven't been through all of them and I wouldn't be surprised.

He's obviously doing illegal things (unlike what you say). I don't disagree the kid could use a change of scenery, but I'm glad that change of scenery didn't happen here.

Too bad Ryan's stuck with THAT blowhard. Ryan likes to chirp, but at the end of the day, he's a class guy. Braylon just chirps. He's an ass.

The Big East was, and is, overrated

The Big East sucks. Last year Pitt, Cincy, WVU, and UConn (I think? maybe one other?) were ranked. Then they got absolutely bombed in their bowl games, and people realized the Big East isn't some amazing conference. Then they sucked a fat egg out of conference this year, and people realized they're just above MWC levels of competition. They suck. UConn's pretty bad. They're a completely one dimensional team, they're small, and they have a very dull offense. Expect them to get blown up by who they play. We should not be pointing to that win as a marquee win.

If UConn lights it up, I'll eat my foot. But I doubt I'll have to.

I might cry. We can't catch a break. We can't. Stafford can't stay healthy, the whole team can't stay healthy, we should've won, this is horrible. This is such an unbearably bad loss. Wow. Just fucking wow.

Isn't that kind of the point of this thread? I think he wants to set the bar high. I'm kind of sick of only beating the mediocre-at-best teams too. It'd be nice for us to really put it all together for one game and pull out an upset.

Not schools. Just players.

Not schools. Just players. Once a kid commits to a school, a school can't just say "haha joke's on you sucker we got a 4 star, we're retracting your scholarship offer!". Maybe they technically could before signing day, but if they ever did, they'd be shooting themselves in the head and no recruit in their right mind would trust them. They can stop recruiting a player that's committed, which often leads to decommits, but that's at the player's behest, not the school's.

Then again, you can always get your ass medical scholarship'd at Bama.

That's not true at all. They

That's not true at all. They rank players amongst both their peers and previous classes in terms of talent and potential at their designated position. For instance, Dee Hart is this year's #1 all-purpose back - this has nothing to do with a pro-style system, its just saying that he is literally their highest evaluated recruit at that position(/position style). However, he's a 4 star, despite being the #1 all-purpose back; this means they feel that he's the best for that position, yet not one of the top-20ish recruits in the nation. (He's actually just outside that.)

Kevin Sousa is evaluated as a dual-threat quarterback, not as a Henne-type quarterback (pro-style). He's evaluated as the 19th best dual-threat quarterback in the nation, meaning he's a pretty solid player for that position. He's also a 3 star, but a fairly high one (he's on the edge of 4 star territory).

My point here is you don't know what you're talking about.

Edit: After rereading your comment, you might also be saying that they're evaluating the players based on their potential for being a professional player rather than a college. This is also blatantly wrong. They project players to the college game - not the pro game.

Carvin was a 3 star.

Hi, can I get the cherry-picked post with a smaller sample size please? thanks.

The problem is Michigan

The problem is Michigan doesn't look at the classes and say 'we'll take 30 credits', they look at it and say 'we'll take 0 credits and you'll like it'. Even if you transfer from other 4 year universities, most of the grades in the classes won't transfer, and some classes credits won't transfer.

Example. My friend goes to central (fire up chips!), he was a bit of a fuck around in high school, so that's pretty much the only place he got in. However, he has really high grades there now (almost a 4.0), and so he looked around for transferring. Michigan would accept 0 grades and approximately 2 classes if I remember right. So after a year of classes, Michigan was willing to take 8ish credits. Central's not a great school by any standard, but it is a 4 year university, and it's definitely better than a juco.

Basically, don't get your hopes up for any juco players in the near future. Even Byron Moore.

I hope you see this. In my

I hope you see this. In my case, my grades weren't great (~3.6 GPA, shitty grades early on, better later), and I basically had no extracurriculars (some sports), but I did a couple things that I think really helped.

First, I took a class at a nearby community college - it wasn't hard at all, but it showed the U I was serious about my education. I also took two APs, I think, and did well in them, so I'm sure that helped.

Second, I had killer ACT scores. I'm not going to say what to be pretentious, but as far as tests go, they don't mean everything, but it seems like they're the edge-case factor. Meh everything else but killer test scores and you've got a good shot; vice-versa, probably a good shot. I'd say anything from a 26-30 is nothing the U would blink at, but once you get above that, the test scores start getting impressive.

I got deferred but got accepted like 3 weeks (just after the new year) after getting my deferral notice. I'm pretty sure this is because they received my new test scores after choosing to defer me, seeing as no one else that got deferred really got in until the spring.

My best advice is to take the ACT a ton of times (or take a ton of practice tests). I took like 10 practice tests (and not just did them, I took them in a test setting, with all the constraints of the real test), and by the 10th time, you kind of just figure the test out. There's the same type of problems in each sections, so there's a strong pattern to the test.

Hope this was helpful. Good luck.

My thoughts every time when I watch high school football

holy crap he actually made a tackle

Uhm

You guys know that in the preseason both teams tend to have an agreement to not blitz? They rarely send more than 4 rushers (if ever). There's other things too; for instance, no chop blocking. Preseason football is almost closer to professional flag football than it is to the real season.

Still, I'm looking forward to see some missed blocks and dropped passes.

How is this even close to

How is this even close to playing in the national championship? This is more akin to a crappier version of the standard OSU Michigan game - a marquee matchup against two traditional powerhouses in a regular season game. You can't even compare that to the postseason, let alone the NC.

When I say "struggled" with

When I say "struggled" with bad weight, I mean he showed up to many different camps at many different weights. Sometimes he was real overweight, sometimes he was back in the mid 200s. I just can't see a freshmen DT having 300+lbs of good weight. If he buys into the program though, you're right, he should be a good player.

Hopefully

That's assuming he fills out his frame. 6'6" 200 is extremely lanky, especially for a LB. As long as he doesn't pull a Mike Shaw and stay the same weight for 3 years, he could turn into a monster.

Because

Because 60 pounds in one year doesn't exactly scream 'good weight'. He struggled with bad weight all throughout his junior and senior years, and to me, that big of a weight gain that quick sounds like a lot of bad weight. We'll find out I guess, but count me skeptical.

Toney Clemons?

6'2" 205lbs 4 star recruit from rivals? I know our WRs are one of our strengths but he could be a serious talent and deep threat, something we unfortunately seem to lack (c'mon Stonum, this is your year...). This is assuming he moves outside if he stays, leaving Roy Roundtree in the slot and alternating with Hemingway/Stonum.

Then again, I haven't heard about him doing a thing at Colorado, so maybe not.

Doubt it

There's a reason we never get transfer players. Our academic department is pretty stringent on these things. That and I don't think the rules bend too much for football players, especially walk-ons (maybe a bit for preferred walk-ons). If they did we'd be one DB deeper right now.

I mean, if his buddy is trying to transfer from Texas no problem, but if he's trying to transfer from FAU, I doubt things are going to work very smoothly. Then again we don't know a whole lot.
