This is a hanging curve..
Sucks for Penix!
November 5th, 2019 at 6:27 PM ^
I imagine this ends Maizen’s Penix envy for the rest of this season, at least.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
Well it doesn’t help his case. Maybe Harbaugh was right to not throw so much and over-use his QBs to the point of injury.
November 5th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
It looks for all the world that IU should have invested in a Penix Mightier to fix their broken Penix.
November 5th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
You’re sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!
November 5th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
you can't take your Penix out for the whole season! Come on, Indiana.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
Ideally, you put him in and out over and over again
November 5th, 2019 at 8:59 PM ^
Surprised out for the season. I heard after last game he was just a little stiff from playing
November 5th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
9windiana looking less probable now.
November 5th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
It's only less probable if you were expecting Indiana to beat Michigan (or PSU). Otherwise, it remains equally as probable.
Purdue for #8, a bowl game for a chance at #9.

November 5th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
No worries IU, my penix is out for the season too. ?♂️
November 5th, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
Poor bastards having to suffer through a broken Penix.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
Suck when your Penix goes limp half way through
November 5th, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
IU med staff could have given him that little blue pill.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
Actually, that's what I heard was the problem. He stayed stiff for more than four hours.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:12 PM ^
Best wishes for a quick recovery from your Penix surgery.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:16 PM ^
IU is in deep, deep, DEEP trouble without Penix. I’m talking balls deep trouble. They’re gonna get the shaft. That cocksure attitude they had is gone now.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
It’s ok, I hear their football team got married. It has no need for its Penix anymore
November 5th, 2019 at 6:47 PM ^
Somebody needs a hug!

Excerpt from an Indy paper:
IU quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was ruled out for the season Tuesday with a right sternoclavicular joint injury, the team announced.
"We feel really bad for Mike," IU coach Tom Allen said in a statement. "He's worked extremely hard and had a great season. He'll recover from this and get bigger and stronger this offseason. Mike has a very bright future with the Hoosiers."
The redshirt freshman completed 110-of-160 passes with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions, leading the Hoosiers (7-2) to their best start in decades.
He missed a recent victory over Nebraska but returned to start last weekend's game against Northwestern. He was 10-of-15 for 162 yards before leaving late in the second quarter.
Peyton Ramsey, last season's starter who was the No. 2 QB after Penix beat him out in training camp, led the Hoosiers over Nebraska and finished up IU's win over Northwestern.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Feel sorry for the young man. Was having a good season. Ramsey is good, also. Gave us a game last year.
GO BLUE ??
November 5th, 2019 at 6:53 PM ^
The idea of Penix getting even bigger and stronger is frightening. He already beat out Ramsey in camp.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Crazy to think IU has 2 of the top 10 QBs in the Big Ten.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:52 PM ^
I’ve replaced the coaches quote with Penix for Mike. It just reads a lot better.
We feel really bad for Penix," IU coach Tom Allen said in a statement. "Penix has worked extremely hard and had a great season. Penix will recover from this and get bigger and stronger this offseason. Penix has a very bright future...”
November 5th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
"He's...extremely hard and had a great season. He'll recover from this and get bigger."
November 5th, 2019 at 6:18 PM ^
Sad to hear he will be abstaining for the rest of the season. tough injury to recover from.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
Lol @ so many dick jokes. Que the Prevail and Ride cartoons.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:20 PM ^
He's already taken a redshirt, so IU might need to get a Penix extension
November 6th, 2019 at 2:51 PM ^
Too bad for this kid. Saw a couple of their games and he had some nice balls.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:20 PM ^
I guess they'll have to pull the old penix "back up" out of the sock drawer.
Mister Ramsey
November 5th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Balls.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Haha Penis joke.
In all seriousness Peyton Ramsey has been much improved this year. He played the entire game vs Nebraska and half the game vs Maryland which are IUs 2 best wins. IU's offense will be less dynamic but still good without Penix.
November 6th, 2019 at 9:07 AM ^
Agree. Ramsey is a solid backup. This is not much of a downgrade. Penix barely beat him out.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
I heard Penix was only a few inches in front of Ramsey on the depth chart.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:24 PM ^
That’s a big loss. But regardless Indiana and Illinois could have their best season in years and at the same time
November 5th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Probably says more about the state of the big ten west than either team
November 5th, 2019 at 11:42 PM ^
+ Minnesota. All at the expense of NU and Purdont. Screw the Boilers and their roid raging DC for taking out Speight.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:28 PM ^
I hear Penix surgery is painful.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:32 PM ^
If you think Michigan is snakebitten...
November 5th, 2019 at 6:33 PM ^
I've heard surgery is not always the best idea for Penix. I hope careful consideration was taken.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:33 PM ^
If Penix is out for more than 4 weeks, IU should consult their medical doctor immediately
November 5th, 2019 at 6:35 PM ^
Sucks for the kid. Also sucks for the even tiny chance Michigan had at winning the big ten since it needed Indiana to beat psu
November 5th, 2019 at 6:42 PM ^
This one is more subtle.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:41 PM ^
You people are sick.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:53 PM ^
Suck a Penix, dude.
November 7th, 2019 at 12:12 AM ^
I was joking guys JEEZ
November 5th, 2019 at 6:41 PM ^
Is Peyton Ramsey that bad? Seems like he gave us a good game last year if my memory is correct. Penix obviously has better wheels but isnt Ramsey the better passer?
November 5th, 2019 at 7:03 PM ^
The opposite is true.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
I’m not sure, I just remember Penix was the more cerebral player of the two. His head was always in the game.
