?For somebody intending to stay... [LOCKED ?]

[ Locked thread because OP violated the rule regarding the use of a banned source.  Not taking the thread down so that those previously unaware of the "No Deace" rule can familiarize themselves with it.

Another MGoUser was banned earlier this week for a similar violation which apparently included a link.

OP is hereby warned, next violation likely gets him blocked. TBH, it likely would have been an immediate ban if a Deace link would have been posted and/or if one or more of the other mods/administrators had caught it first. -rob f]

...Harbaugh is taking an awfully long time to sign his extension.

Steve Deace was right: if this were any other coach, the decision would have been made for him.

Even if Harbaugh returns, the fanbase will not be thrilled, short of a 12-0 run next year, and I don't see that happening.

(Yeah, I know; you've heard all this before. But it seems odd that a man claiming to want to be here is taking so long to do something as quick and as obvious as put his John Hancock on the dotted line, knowing that it hurts the program).

People are trying to make this way too simple.

This is a negotiation. I'm not saying I know the details, but if Michigan is trying to make the buyout $100,000 and not guaranteeing contracts of his assistants, then that's an impediment. It's not as simple as "This is where I want to be." It's "This is where I want to be but you have to be realistic about the context of my employment."

You might want to be with a girl, but if she insists on having her own place and won't introduce you to her family...then maybe that's not the right situation.

Again, I'm not claiming to know the details of the negotiation, but it's not as black-and-white as a bunch of you want to make it.

This drives an important point. The delays very well could be Harbaugh acting in the best interest of the football program.  WE DO NOT KNOW.

All this online speculation, calling for heads to roll, vilifying the guy, etc. is dumb.  The facts will come out and we can Sunday morning QB it then.  In the meantime attacks on our football coach are an attack on our football program. And not helping.

Every FBS coach has a buyout of some sort. There's obviously a difference between a $100,000 buyout and a $15,000,000 buyout. Ignoring the reality that buyouts are a thing - and are considered important for every single coach - is..well...ignorant.

Well put Magnus as people need to understand there are negotiations going on. Wards looking out for UM while JH is trying to get the best deal he can for himself and coaches. This happens every time before a coach signs a contract. However no one is ever privy to that and usually only hear after negotiations are done and a contract is signed

Hopefully Matt Campbell runs it back at Iowa State with Purdy, Hall, and company. That way he's still available when Harbaugh walks after an uninspiring 6 win season in 2021.

A few tips for you to remember after your break from this blog:

1. Beating a dead horse, don't do that. The horse is dead, everyone has gotten swings in on the horse. Why must you keep hitting the horse?

2. A Steve Deace mention? I would direct you to the Mod Action thread to check what happens for positive mentions of the M-goblin.

3. If you intend on beating the dead horse, perhaps change up the instruments with which you beat said horse. Provide new insight, attach some breaking news, include a new angle with which to view the issue.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Bolivia.

Glad to assist. It's at the top of the "Moderator Sticky" thread:

• "...if you're on the message board you should be aware that posting something from them could get you banned. They are:

SirYacht/Chat Sports/James Yoder - Fake news merchant who likes to make up plausible rumors or report non-sure things to get a false scoop. Any local Spartan media when they talk about Michigan. Unless they're yelling "MAKE PLAYS!"

Pete Finebaum: FoxNews for SEC fans. Occasionally useful to them but the only times he's intersecting with us is when he's carrying Saban's water.

Rainer Sabin: Finebaum wannabe hired by the Freep to troll Michigan fans.

Steve Deace: Curiously well-funded white supremacist radio host who's got such a small Michigan following you can safely assume anyone posting positively about him is Deace and ban him again. Running joke among Michigan media members because he creates lots of burner accounts to promote himself. Type of person who plays the "they hate me for my politics" card in hopes someone's dumb enough to switch their morning breakfast cereal to flavorless cardboard flakes to own the libs. Recently booted by Maven for advocating lynching.

For the record, I don't need a 12-0 year next year to be thrilled.

I think it's blatantly obvious and has been that this entire ordeal would come down to whether or not an NFL team would take a shot on Harbaugh. However, unless they are somehow keeping everything under wraps so his interest is concealed, it doesn't seem like there is any. All requests for interviews from these teams is pretty widely reported and there's been nothing w/ Harbaugh.

You have to keep in mind that the primary sources for guys like Schefter are agents. I don’t believe Harbaugh has an agent.

Keep in mind, these interviews are known because NFL teams have to request the ability to interview their coaching candidates from the team said candidate currently works for. Since Harbaugh is a college coach, I don't believe there are any such requests that must be made.

Bingo. No college coach will have his name tied to an interview. Who knows If Harbaugh is a legit candidate, but no rumors on interviews means nothing. I would almost go the other way. Harbaugh isn’t stupid. This is one of two things to me, either he’s truly going back and forth with Warde on negotiations and they aren’t going well. Neither side is giving up, but both trying to put their foot down. Second, Harbaugh is getting positive news from 1 or more teams in NFL. Not saying they “offered him”, but telling him he’s on a short list. No way Harbaugh would drag this out if it wasn’t 1 of these 2 things.

The agent comment is definitely a good call out.

However, the last four similar jumps I can remember (Carroll, Kelly, Schiano, and Rhule) all have articles available about their pending interview...in some cases w/ multiple teams (Kelly and Rhule).

Those situations might be different and I do agree the agent/non-agent thing is a good point, but it's not like we wouldn't find out if he's interviewing JUST because he's a college coach.

He’s crazy if he comes back now. He has shown his wish to find something else. His right to go look and our right to want him to do what’s best for the team and move on.

There was literally a video of him with some of the players in the medical center last night. Looked like he wanted to stay.

Warde is spineless.  Harbaugh is holding this program hostage.  MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MIND ALREADY.  He is a selfish prick for doing this.

I’m tired of this bullshit. Sign the extension or resign. I prefer he resigns. Why does he think he is bigger than the team. Bo is rolling over in his grave with all this crap going on.

If I’m Harbaugh I hold out force them to decide going into my last year. If I don’t like the deal I won’t sign it. The worst they can do for me is fire me, in which case I get my money anyway. I now have a year to shop for a new job, and the AD has screwed the program long term. So, it’s more on Warde at that point.

Michigan should announce something on Monday the 11th around 8:30- 9:00 p.m. because nothing is happening in college football that day.
