God that was depressing. I mean, Norfleet lost contain, but when you only have 2 guys literally within 30 yards of the returner when he fields it, that'll happen. The endzone view was so damning.

How fucking ironic would it be if Hoke's first game in his Michigan career was a weather-shortened game and the final one is a weather shortened.
Well, that's how it should be. Make Nuss or Mattison the interim HC.
This season is going to be a wreck anyways. Might as well begin the courting of Harbaugh now. And the search for a new AD (Brad Bates).
September 20th, 2014 at 7:24 PM ^
Find out how much it's going to take to get Harbaugh and PAY IT. How much money is wasted by the AD every year on events no one even knows about, much less cares about? $5 million a year? Pay it. $8 million a year? Pay it. $10 million a year? Pay it. Show the world Michigan still gives a shit about football, because for the past few years, it certainly doesn't appear that way. Michigan is the laughing stock of the college football world! This is an embarassment and a black mark on the University itself. Hoke should be goddamned ashamed he brought this type of negative attention to the University and shouldn't even have to be asked to resign. If he cared 1/2 as much about Michigan as he professed (prior to being overpaid millions per year, I might add) he would resign now and spare the University the further embarassment of canning his ass.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:04 PM ^
Only problem with that is I don't think Schlissel cares about football.
We'll see, I guess.

Cut bait with Hoke and promote Nuss to interm. I've been saying that since Notre Dame. It gives Nuss a shot, doesn't kill recruiting, and buys some time.
Also, a seach committee should be formed and Desmond absolutely has to be on it. DB f'ed up the last search terribly and really should be gone himself.
Harbaugh isn't coming and neither is Miles...period. There's quality coaches out there if someone isn't lazy and looks for them. I'd guesstimate there's 5-10 coaches who are up to the task. Desmond loves the school and sees enough of the landscape that I can't help but think he'd be a great fit to find the next guy.

I think the offensive shortcomings are mainly on Hoke and DG, not Nuss.
September 20th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
Nussmeier was brought in specifically because he would enjoy an autonomy at Michigan Saban wouldn't allow him at Alabama. Turns out Saban might have been on to something.
September 21st, 2014 at 10:03 AM ^
Not at a power 5 school but as a candidate. Giving him the interm tag is a season long thryout while they search for other candidates. No one else on this staff is a HC candidate anywhere other than here.
Keeping Nuss as interm doesn't kill recruiting and if he does manage to get things going they can keep him. If he can't then nothing was lost because the present HC is done getting canned anyway.

No my man DB has screwed the pooch on 2 coaching searches. Time to dump his ass and convene a search committe to fill both positions.
Edit: Just remembered that Rich Rod was Bill Martin's hire, my bad.

http://www.mgoblue.com/school-bio/staffdir.html Please let the AD know how the fanbase feels about Hoke staying on through the year and (unfortunately, possibly) beyond.

Brandon would just fuck up the hire again (I'd put money on Loeffler). You contact Schlissel about Brandon first.

It's not the Harbaugh in Baltimore that we want it's the one in the Bay Area. The one that played here and is currently being denied a renegotiated contract even though he's taken his team to the NFCCG 3 years in a row. The one who is having issues with the Niners FO and prima donna players. The one that may be looking for work if the Niners don't make SBXLIX.

but at least if he was here you know we'd actually try to hit Funchess on a fly route sometime (or all the time). Freakin use our future 10-yr NFL veteran wide receiver!

I cannot even believe how slow our "tempo" was. That seems absurd to me. Is teaching a 2min drill really so hard? Real question.

I feel bad for the players. To work tirelessly towards your goal everyday and be unable to meet it because of incompetent leadership must be extremely frustrating.

Thoughts: time to start looking at replacements for the current staff. Putting Shane in was almost Hoke falling on his sword like a Samurai. They just gave up - quit - the body language - the lost, hopeless look on Hoke's face on the sidelines. Hoke and Mattison getting into it... It was surreal.
The ND game walked him up to the ledge, the Miami game blind folded him, and the Utah game just pushed Hoke off the cliff. Game Over.
It will get beaten to death, but Hoke's comments earlier this week about why he doesn't use the spread punt and then we give a punt return TD. Its ironic.... Its damning.... Its embarrasing... Its time... Strap a rocket to his ass, and press the fire button..
September 20th, 2014 at 7:53 PM ^
what was the story with that? did Gm get that penalty? what happened to a sideline warning with no penalty? anyone in the stands have more details?
September 20th, 2014 at 7:56 PM ^
I disagree. Leaving Devin in the game would have been inhumane. He's this year's Fitz.
September 20th, 2014 at 7:31 PM ^
I have an idea: let Dave Brandon and Brady Hoke stand out on opposing 40 yard lines for the remainder of the delay and see who gets hit by lightening first. Let God sort them out.
Hopefully there is a microburst.

He graduates almost all his players and recruits well. He has a winning record. Do you think a school like Michigan will fire him with those credentials?
Where you all are making a mistake is believing the priority of the University is a NC or even a B1G championship. It isn't. What the school wants is a program that graduates most of its athletes and programs with a winning record. Hoke provides that.
FWIW, I have long felt he was the wrong hire and still believe he is not the right person for the job. But I came to recognize what I want is not what the University wants. I predict he will end up with a winnig record this year and receive a short extension with little or no pay increase.

So you think the administration would happily stand by while the program hemorrages cash and loses fans? I seriously doubt that.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:08 PM ^
Most season ticket holders will continue to buy because there is the expectation of Michigan making a come back. Students tickets provide lttle financial profit. I am not claiming there will not be a less people attending but would it make a significant difference financially if 10,000 less attend?
Next week and thereafter they will get their usual 100,000 or so.
Finally consider the cost to the University if they fire Hoke and bring in a high caliber coach. It would be significantly more in cost than losing 10 to 20,000 in attendance.
It ain't going to happen.

If the 100k streak ends, Brandon has to go. His whole reason for being is "building the brand" marketing bullshit and that's like the iconic thing. We can't say we have the largest crowd watching a college football game anywhere in America already...
