Semi-OT - Michigan players among NFL cuts today
It's a tough day across the NFL. Here's some Wolverines looking for landing spots:
Daylen Baldwin was cut by the Browns.
Nick Eubanks was cut by the Bengals.
Sean McKeon was cut by the Cowboys.
Khaleke Hudson was cut by the Commanders.
Michael Schofield was cut by the Bears.
Devin Funchess was cut by the Lions.
That's all I saw based on a quick skim of headlines. Good luck and Go Blue!

Getting cut is just a statistic.

OT as well and not really thread-worthy. But pretty excited to see North Carolina A&T marching band during the Lion's home opener.
EDIT: I meant what I was going to say was OT and not related to this post. Sorry for anyone who misinterpreted it.

HBCU marching bands are where excellence meets joy. The complexity, the showmanship, and the precision are all incredible.
Detroit sends a lot of students to HBCUs, so hopefully it’s a great recruiting trip for NC A&T and a phenomenal fan experience.

Awesome post!

What? OT? Why, TruBluMich?
"ON TOPIC
- Anything Michigan sports related
- Anything related to other Big Ten teams or upcoming opponents
- Stuff about the blog itself
- University of Michigan topics that don't relate to sports" *

I think he's referring to the topic of the NC A&T marching band, not the OP.
August 31st, 2022 at 11:38 AM ^
What I wrote was OT because it had nothing to do with the topic I was replying to. I didn't create a thread about how excited I was to see it because it wasn't thread worthy for a Michigan blog. However, based on the reaction and downvotes. I will write it so everyone fully understands what I wrote.
I am very excited to see North Carolina A&T perform during the halftime show during the Lion's home opener.

Lavert Hill, Ty Wheatley, Devin Asiasi, Carlos Kemp as well.
August 30th, 2022 at 4:39 PM ^
Dang -- I count six guys (Hill, Asiasi somewhat, Kemp, Eubanks, McKeon, and Hudson) from Harbaugh's first full recruiting class in 2016. Not For Long.
August 31st, 2022 at 12:17 AM ^
Someone took a flyer on Ty Wheatley after his modest college career? I wish him all the success in the world, but dang!

Pre-college scouting services: "hey, just a heads up that you project to OT at the college level."
TW Jr: "nah fam I'm a TE"
Michigan: "Hey, just a heads up that your fastest path to playing time is converting to OT."
TE Jr: "nah fam I'm a TE, peace out."
Stony Brook: "hey just a heads up that you're draftable as an OT prospect but not really as a TE."
TW Jr: "nah fam I'm a TE."
NFL scouts: "hey heads up we're not going to draft you as a TE."
TW Jr: [surprised pikachu.gif]
Spring League: "hey heads up we'll take you but only if you convert to OT"
TW Jr: "...ok I'll be an OT"
NFL teams: "hey now that you're an OT, want to be on our practice squad?"
Dude ignored some serious suggestions in his best interests.

On the flip side Chase Winovich DID make the final 53 for the Browns which was a pretty surprising development given he's been out with a hamstring injury since the 2nd week of camp. Played in their first pre-season game and did basically nothing so many insiders figured he was going to be cut today.
He still might be if they go after someone else's hand-me-downs (a distinct possibility given our dearth of talent at WR & DT) but for now Chase is on the team.
August 30th, 2022 at 4:41 PM ^
Wow, I thought Khaleke was a starter for them?
August 30th, 2022 at 4:46 PM ^
Anyone else surprised the Lions dropped Funchess. I admittedly didn't catch a ton of Lions Preseason but for a position the Lions are bad at he seemed like a solid veteran option there.
August 30th, 2022 at 5:11 PM ^
I only watched the last preseason game vs Pitt and I'm not surprised at all that he was cut because he looked awful.
He dropped a pass late in the game & I said out loud he has no chance of making this team
August 30th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
The Lions are solid at the WR and TE positions.
August 30th, 2022 at 8:12 PM ^
He was reportedly injured. Not sure what, but that's what I heard.
August 30th, 2022 at 10:20 PM ^
Wow. At first I thought you were making a “pun” response with “surprised he was dropped” and “didn’t catch on” I was waiting for “I was hoping he’d bring it in”

Thankfully Tom Brady made the roster after missing all that time for a face lift.
August 30th, 2022 at 5:16 PM ^
If there's a shred of truth to any of this ( https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=%22face+lift%22+%22tom+brady%22&ia=web ) my opinion of off-field Brady (not necessarily sky-high before today) has worsened.
August 30th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
Not enough time for a facelift so I was going to say botox but his forehead is clearly moving up and down and showing expression so I'm gonna say no truth to it.
August 30th, 2022 at 5:58 PM ^
Why would Brady having a facelift change your opinion of him?
August 30th, 2022 at 6:21 PM ^
I mean, if the magically re-growing hair didn't already get you...
August 30th, 2022 at 6:24 PM ^
Cosmetic surgery has a place in the world (addressing horrible disfigurements as a result of accidents / illness, etc. ... admittedly some subjectivity there). A healthy and definitely not disfigured 40-something getting a facelift seems pretty shallow and insecure to me. It's aging disgracefully.
August 30th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Do you, I guess, but that seems an odd stance to me.
People don't need to be horribly disfigured to have body dysmorphia and that's what cosmetic surgery helps with. Who cares if someone has the time, energy & money to do all the plastic surgery that they want if it makes them feel better about themselves?
August 30th, 2022 at 7:37 PM ^
I understand that body dysmorphia doesn't have boundaries. You could be conventionally attractive and still not feel good. Perhaps that's the case with Brady. It's hard to get to that, though. If he were to get cosmetic surgery, my money would be on something related to promoting "TB12" or maybe just spending too much time in an image-obsessed culture.
August 30th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
Anybody just think he is the best at what he does and wants more time with the family, does he actually need the preseason/training camp?
August 30th, 2022 at 5:54 PM ^
Recovery from a facelift takes a lot longer. And generally leaves the person looking like they just had a facelift.
My guess, based on absolutely nothing, is hemorrhoids.
Edit: based on Wendy's picture above, he also got a super obvious dye job lol. Show some gray old man, the ladies love it.
August 30th, 2022 at 6:45 PM ^
The dye job is pretty obvious, but as far as dye jobs go, I've seen worse. I'm not a fan of plastic surgery or botox but really not a fan of men who are so vain, they start going down the road of dye jobs and/or plastic surgery. Don't even get me started on manscaping.
August 30th, 2022 at 7:06 PM ^
speaking of dye jobs, how about this ad with eddie munster for 'hair club for men'?
August 30th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
Carlos Boozer called and had some choice thoughts about the "believability" your hair.
August 30th, 2022 at 7:54 PM ^
Definitely better before the dye.
August 30th, 2022 at 10:05 PM ^
I get wanting to forestall the aging process but science hasn't really caught up to the pursuit of youth. It's tough to look natural.

Throw sunglasses and about 150 pounds on him, that's Steven Seagal
August 31st, 2022 at 3:13 PM ^
Funny! Now that you mention it, you never see these two together. Coincidence?
August 30th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
Recovering from a forklift takes a lot longer.
August 30th, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
Definitely wouldn’t want to take a forklift to the face.
August 30th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
Definitely a blood boy
August 30th, 2022 at 4:47 PM ^
huh, i thought Schofield, Hill, and Hudson were gonna stay with their respective squads. they'll be practice squad guys somewhere. not surprised by the rest really.
edit: looks like Lavert Hill was waived with an injury designation. that sucks for him.
August 31st, 2022 at 8:27 AM ^
Schofield has made $13M in his career and is in his 30's. Wouldn't be surprised if he's picked up elsewhere, but being a practice player may not be worth it to him.
Max practice player salary is $358k for the season, which is a lot, but if I'd made that much money in my career at 300+ lbs, I'd be more worried about my future health.
August 30th, 2022 at 4:50 PM ^
Cut day sucks.
August 30th, 2022 at 9:08 PM ^
gonna be a tough Hardknocks next Wed.
August 30th, 2022 at 4:54 PM ^
Donovan Jeter cut by the Steelers
August 30th, 2022 at 4:58 PM ^
The NFL is no joke. Just sucks.
August 30th, 2022 at 6:25 PM ^
Should read "Devin Funchess freed from being associated with the Lions", and hopefully Hutchinson soon to follow. They don't deserve any Michigan players.
August 30th, 2022 at 6:30 PM ^
Thread is good. Not OT, though: Michigan alums in the NFL are extremely on topic.
August 30th, 2022 at 6:53 PM ^
Ben Mason was cut by the Ravens.
August 30th, 2022 at 9:08 PM ^
Damn - I was hoping not to see this as I scrolled down! Hopefully my Chiefs pick him up as a backup for Burton. There's a place in the league for Bench!
August 30th, 2022 at 7:06 PM ^
Taco Charlton cut by the Saints.
Meaning it is decidedly not Taco Tuesday.
