I know it's "too early" to make this judgement, but this kid appears to be very close to tagging himself as somewhere between "high maintenance" and "damaged goods."  I am beginning to wonder if he carries baggage that outweighs his talent.  For his sake, I hope not.

It's not too early to make this judgment. Seantrel's recruitment has been a farce since the 8th grade. Those of us up here in Minneapolis have watched this joke unfold for years. We're not shocked at all whenever anything happens.

I apologize that I don't have the time to search for it, but there is a NYT article from right around Signing Day which encapsulates much of the hilarity of Henderson's recruitment. A Google should lead you to it.

Also, lots of "ultimatums" to teams, the fact he was with Bryant McKinnie when McKinnie got so drunk he had to withdraw from the Pro Bowl, Tim Brewster having his O-Line corch enroll his kid at Cretin Derham so he could unlimited time at the school to pester Seantrel, his convenient "delay" to signing his LOI with USC so that he could see how the penalties would turn out, but that "delay" coincided neatly with him finding out his ACT scores in April, the Snoop Dogg recording stuff, the hilarious Lemming Signing Day show on CBS College Sports, the fact that Henderson and his Dad went to every Gopher FB / BB free for 4 years that they wanted.

It's quite hilarious. I'm sure you're not shocked to also know that the Hendersons are filming a documentary about his recruitment.

...take a look at this piece.

It features this little ditty, an email OSU's RB coach (and older brother of Jim Tressel) Doc Tressel sent to Henderson:

“That was a Grammy performance made me think of u! After u did that rhyme 4 me in Dec u said u felt best bout the Buckeyes. The Bucks hbe not changed!! We want u to be down here ovr spr break to learn more bout Columbus. Doc”

I agree he was right to avoid USC. And I can see how having been burned by USC being sure on the next decision can be challenging. Hey, it's his decision now, and free of LOI constraints he should take his time, just so he decides in time for practice.

My comment was more meant to be funny.

Of course the joke might be on us if he chooses OSU (like Pryor did).

I'm pretty sure that was the problem, they were skirting the 85 player scholarship limit by having guys on track scholarships, and then just playing football. I think the rule is now that if you play Football or Basketball, your scholarship automatically counts against those sports, no matter what other sports you might play.

I can't blame him for getting away from Lane and USC but he should have already had his 2nd choice in mind and he should have stuck with it.  Between his indecision and his dad's budding rap career I don't know about him.  Still, let's hope he's not headed to OSU

we still have scholies open ....

i really dont blame the kid, he is young and it is a huge choice that really is a lot harder to make then people think ... i struggled with my choice on what college to go to for 2 years and wanted to transfer at many points during my freshman year and that was without anybody recruiting me , dropping a guilt trip on me, or a team to compete for

also it really doesnt sound like the people close to him are always thinking about what is best for seantrel

Here's why you should care:

His top 5 were USC, then Miami, then Ohio State, then Notre Dame, then Minnesota.

If he continues down the line, Michigan is adversely affected. I hope this rumor is not true, because the last thing I want to see this fall is this guy on the O-line in South Bend or Columbus.

... your point that he may end up at OSU or ND is somewhat relevant.  But, it is overshadowed by the fact that is he goes so far down his list this way, then it seems more likely he is a head-case whose talents may go to waste at those schools.

Headcase or no, this kid was 6'8", 340 pounds as a sophomore in high school. He regularly lifts with (and outlifts) current and former members of the Minnesota Vikings.

I don't want him playing Michigan in the off chance that he's not a head-case whose talent doesn't go to waste.

every time I hear people mention Mike Farrell I think of the guy that played B J Hunnicutt on MASH......So to an earlier post, I thought "How can BJ stink??"

He going to Miami...

RT @rivalsmike: Rumor on Seantrel was in regards to academics but sources say he's admitted and will arrive Aug. 5 in Miami.

I think everyone is tired of this kid's act. Sadly it seems that this kid's act is aided by his father's want to be a "rap star". His father had apparently come back into his life after being away for many years only to find his son had become quite the local football star. Having a good amount of hype seemed to be perfect for his dad to leach off of.

Curious to see if he's going to pull a BooBoo and be older than everyone thinks, or something... Cissoko is 22, but the school thought he was 20... perhaps Henderson's actually 20, with how fast he developed.
