Saban offers grayshirt to Bama commit 5 days before NSD.
Shall we sit back and wait for the media onslaught, decrying Nicky's recruiting practices? http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/01/oneonta_linebacker_riley_col… **EDIT: comments noted as not liking my attempt at mocking the mockers with my previous title and what I thought was obvious sarcasm

I wonder if our Man from Medill will write a scorching column on it. Probably not.
ESPN? Of course not. They're in bed with the SEC on a network.

I agree that there are ranges along the spectrum but do you seriously think that three weeks is sufficient time to pull a scholarship? I'm not referring to any specific situation.....just a generalization. I think that three months might be sufficient, three weeks is not. I don't know that a recruit can fully vet enough potentially viable schools in that short period of time.
Remember that these kids should actually be in school. They don't have any traditional breaks in the last three weeks (no Spring Break, no Summer Break, no Christmas break.....). Can they seriously visit Michigan, Alabama and Stanford in three weeks? With very little prior notice?
Clearly three days is not a sufficient amount of time.....but I don't think that three weeks (in the dead of winter) is much better. The more that this is discussed, the more I think that an early signing period makes sense. If both sides aren't on board at that time, then all bets are off until NSD.

Michigan pulling a kid's offer is only done through a well-defined process, that is merit-based and completely transparent, even when the kids say they hadn't hear from the staff in months. So that is "No Big Deal".
Saban pulling on offer is part of a diabolical agenda aimed at reducing a recruit's life to a commodity that can be discarded on a whim, and doing it in a way that will destroy the kid's chances of future success. So that is a "Big Deal".
Timing of pulled offers is just a pesky nuisance and in no way impacts the above conclusions.

I don't know, man. I get the impression it is rather full in there....but that isn't necessarily a bad thing at all.

This title is the double whammy in shittiness.
I predict "pulls a Harbaugh" will join the likes of "oakland is still in play" and "Harbaugh hates recruiting" as oft repeated annoying posts that were never clever but become grating.
The "/s" is dinggleberry on top of the turd sunday.
/crankiness

pun intended?

He's a decent inside linebacker prospect, but he's not as athletic as I would expect from an Alabama OLB. This probably means that Alabama has received some good news about one or two of their other linebacker targets... They just keep reloading.

Ten months ago I told him, "Here's my prediction. Alabama is goint to win the National Championship next year. The following year, they're going to lose to Michigan in the National Championship game."
Half way there.

I guess you don't mind losing that bet when in the semifinals #1 Michigan wins and #2 Alabama loses.

Please don't use any form of the verb "Harbaugh" for this kind of crap.
Do we really want this to catch on and become a phrase down the line?

To pull a "Harbaugh" conveys an action. Supposedly the action of pulling a recruits' ability to commit or sign a letter of intent. Hence therefore it's a verb.
Harbaughed, Harbaughing, etc... are verbs as well.
