This will be your thread for snowflakes and hot takes for the defensive performance against Rutgers.

Good performance by the players cant complain about their execution.

Don Brown needs to go more zone and scrap the 3 man line when running the ball is an option for the O.

Garbage time subs were bad, no full time player should of been in after the 3rd.

Which is exactly the point. Everybody runs man coverage and they're all beatable, even Alabama, if the officials allow picks.

You can be frustrated by it, but the next D Coordinator after Brown will also play man coverage and that man coverage will also get beat by underneath crossing routes. It happens to everybody. We only care and notice when it happens to Michigan.

Having Dwumfour back helped a ton.  Dax and McGrone look like future studs.  So much talent on both sides of the ball.  I wish we used a little more zone.  I know complaining when we shut them out is stupid but we will need it at some point.  Hard to get a good read when playing Rutgers.

Instinctive, yes, but he also looks like a smart player. I don’t think he was out of position even once. Iowa may be able to coax him out of position; if not, he should probably start over Hawkins (Hawkins is an excellent tackler in space, but if Dax is too, then Dax should start).

We scored all the game points against a conference rival.  No need to apologize to anyone or any troll for that.  Michigan looked and played like a very good team today.  Bring on Iowa.

Best performance of the year but still concerned about the DT position. McGrone was awesome and so was Hill. Brown called s pretty good game overall mixing in some zone for once.

Replace Hawkins with Hill and Glasgow with McGrone.  Interior d-line is still and will be a problem.  Kemp struggles to do much of anything and Dwumfour is just there.  I’m sure Rutgers had more to do with the pass rush today.

I didn't see the game. My understanding is that Rutgers made a lot of their yards of offense with the crossing routes on their one good drive in the first half, which ended in a turnover on downs. Would I be wrong to think the defense adjusted, and took that away the rest of the game? Else, why did Rutgers not have more success by doing it some more the rest of the game?

You'd be absolutely correct. Really, the crossing route worked about three times, once for a significant gain when McGrone was blasted by an illegal pick. It was not an issue. It was defended well most of the day.

But you know... OSU PTSD and stuff

Edit: Example - first drive of the game, Brown dropping linemen into crossing routes to blow up 3rd and short. We were good all day. Our coordinator knows what he's doing. Fans generally don't.

I can and I will be hard on this team. I want greatness from this program. Liked what I saw from McGrone and Da x Hill. Speed on defense is a good thing. Pick it up Don Brown. Put these kids in the best position to succeed.

If we want greatness we need three jumbo DT. we have none.  Was shocked Harbaugh didn't get a grad transfer and instead got a DE in Danna.  Get a few Gabe Watson's and then this D will play well.

How everybody saw that upcoming hole and he didn't is unbelievable.

Encouraging. I can't help but look at the job Northwestern is doing against Wisconsin today (hanging in there) and worry that there are still some really serious issues with the defense. But for the rest of today, I'll pretend that all is well. Shutouts in conference play are always something to be proud of.

McGrone my biggest takeaway. Definitely best linebacker I have seen on this team this year. Dude needs to start. He a RS freshman or a sophomore?

McGrone is really good! The DT's are not.

I still think we should be saving the freshman DT's redshirts if we can because we're going to need those guys for several years.

Play them against PSU, MSU, OSU, and maybe Iowa or ND.
