This will be your thread for snowflakes and hot takes for the defensive performance against Rutgers.

My primary concern continues to be the defense.  Need to see how they handle next week to be convinced otherwise.

Not much of a hot take, but Dax Hill and Cam McGrone need to be integral parts of this defense moving forward. It was also big having Dwumfour back. First week having everyone healthy and they looked good. We'll see what we have next week. GO BLUE

Looked good against a team they should look good against. That is a start.

Not optimistic they can hold up to good rushing attacks. This just isn't the same type of defense they've had in past seasons. Wisconsin type teams will give them fits.

I think they have plenty of speed. McGrone and Hill already look like two of the more athletic players.

Better overall, quality of opponent of course. Agree on the benefit of Dwumfor being back. Dax & McGrone are future stars. Danna looked like a contributor.

I know the guy has heart, but Jordan Glasgow had some ROUGH plays. Just got absolutely juked out of his shorts on at least 2-3 plays I saw, maybe more.

It's got to be McGrone at MLB going forward. Wonder if Ross and Anthony should start getting reps at WLB because there needs to be a better option than Glasgow. Uche needs to play more as well.

I assume Ross is out with injury? Didn’t see him at all today. Dax Hill play lots of snaps today? I know McGrone did, curious what percentage of D snaps did Hill play you think? First 3.5 quarters, not the garbage stuff. Was he at safety or nickel?

I still like Hawkins at safety for now. I know Hill is our prized recruit but Hawkins is no slouch.

It’s likely they’ll both start next year so it’s nice  to rotate them though.

Shutouts are shutouts. They’re damn hard to do no matter who you’re playing.

Muxh tougher games are ahead, but we got a shutout. What more could you have asked for from Brown? Would’ve liked to see some takeaways, but I’m nitpicking.

Brown lit a fire and they played with more aggression on the DT. Plus:

1. Play McGrone all the time

2. Play Danna more

3. Play Hill more

4. Simplify things for Hawkins

5. Mix zone with man

6. Minimize Mason at DT

7. Still want more Hinton and Smith

8. Great to see Luigi on the field

Can’t win big with guys like Metellus and Glasgow. Serviceable players, but need better than that at Michigan

I liked McGrone today. I'd like to see him take that spot permanently. Maybe Ross can replace Glasgow because that guy is a liability

Hinton looked thick and had good push.  Dammit he should have played last week.

Vilain looked slim and wonder if he isn't a one trick pony, and can hold up against run.

Danna seems to be the most aware.

Jeter looked very stiff and lumbering.

McGrone will start from now on. I'm hoping Dax does too.

Gil flashed at end.

Smith I didn't see.

This was a home game vs Rutgers.

Dax Hill left me salivating for more.  That dude is gonna be great.  I will be shocked if he isn't starting by the PSU game.  Great top end speed.  Great form tackles.  Strong.  Seemed to be in the right places at the right times.  Pinch me.

I am calling it right now.  Our best safety since I don't even know.  I wanna see some clever packages that involve him in a disguised blitz.  Bye bye opposing QB.

Well, safety hasn't really been Michigan's forte in the past 15 years so I'm not venturing onto much of a limb.  He showed remarkable poise and confidence for a guy playing in his second, maybe third game?  It's only going to get better as he gains experience.

Cam McGrone was Devin Bush Jr. light today.  Still a little raw but has all the athletic ability to be a difference maker.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel everywhere but DL.  Hopefully we'll see some flashes from Smith and Hinton to shore things up a little there.  Feels like game action and reps are going to take the D from maligned to good by season's end.

At first I felt sorry for Art Sikowski's parents watching their son get pummeled by Michigan's defense. Then I heard he turned down a Michigan scholarship to play for Rutgers.

Btw, when my wife heard "Scarlet (k)Nights, she said it sounded like  the name of a whorehouse.

I'm sorry but Jordan Glasgow's gotta take a seat.

He doesn't have the speed to keep up with better athletes.

If M puts Josh Ross back at MLB when he's healthy, they've gotta move McGrone into Glasgow's spot.

Ross might be relegated to Glasgow's spot anyway with Cam McGrone's emergence.

McGrone/Hill getting extended run was nice.

Ash took OSU's game plan for a test run, after the 10th underneath crossing pattern one of our LB's leveled the guy finally.

Our defense is still very weak up the middle and will be all year, Rutgers is simply incapable of exploiting it.
