RIP Michigan's Wild Wolverine

Trail ends for Wolverine State's one and only wild wolverine From The Detroit News: http://www.detnews.com/article/20100316/METRO/3160381/1409/METRO/Trail-…
The last wild wolverine in the Wolverine State is dead. State environmental officials say the 28-pound female was found Saturday in the Thumb's Minden City State Game Area. Hikers discovered her body in a creek. The animal is believed to have died of natural causes, said Mary Dettloff, spokeswoman for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. A necropsy will be performed, she said. It's been centuries since wolverines made their home in the state, and DNRE officials suspect this one may have been imported -- possibly from Canada -- and released. "The last one in Michigan in the wild was probably 200 years ago," Dettloff said.

I thought you were talking about UM giving up on the possiblity of their own version of the "wildcat." Thankfully, we may still see a "wild wolverine" formation at UM.

It occurs to me... what would one search for in this case? Wolverine.... yeah, good luck with that. Death.... results cluttered by too many posts about Sheridan. Dead.... too many dead people over the years. Wild.... too many uses (-card, -cat, etc.) (Just an observation. I gave you +1 on humor alone.)

in the GR Press, Flint Journal, Frankenmuth News, Daily Mining Gazette, Bay City Times and Saginaw News later in the week we will see MORE posts! Leave the poor thing alone.

Thank you for posting this, I Bleed Maize N Blue. The other posts had cutsie titles: 1)Michigan Wolverines just can't catch a break 2)Damn it's hard to be a Wolverine this year I didn't want to read more boohooing about our tough athletic struggles so I didn't click on them. Those who did see it as double posting. I don't. Your title was the first to make the topic clear. Thank you again. I cannot believe the number of upvotes those who unjustly whine about the double-posting are receiving. I call it unjust because the other postings did not make clear what the post was about in the title, but instead tried to be cute. As if they worked for MSM or something. It is one thing to police the site for reasons stated ad nauseum. It is another to believe that just because you click on every posting, everyone else does too. If the prior postings had made clear the subject matter being discussed, it would be different.

Apologies to MGoNation. I don't read every thread. Of the ones I read, I did not see any mention of this topic. I did a manual search of subjects in the first few pages, and none of them seemed to be about this topic. After seeing the responses, I tried a search of "dead wolverine," and it turned up, among unrelated older posts, a post which mentioned multiple threads on this. So, mea culpa.

Unfortunately, if you had searched "dead wolverine" first, and found the previous threads, you probably wouldn't have posted this thread (or am I mistaken?). That means that I wouldn't have found out about it (at least until I saw it in the MSM). I'm thinking that clear post titles would be a big help for those who are selective about what they read and for those looking to see if something they are considering posting has already been posted.

He jumped off the Empire State Building and only sprained an ankle. Bill Brasky once showed me a video of him making love to my wife, and it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw! He hated Mexicans! And he was half Mexican! .......And he hated irony! It was the sight of Brasky's naked body that drove Brian Wilson insane.
