Remember last year

“Don't fear failure. — Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail.” - Bruce Lee

That was last year. That is what we need again. We cannot "go quietly into the night." We may not win, but we must fight. This is Ohio F*#$%#g State. This is The Game. Stop being a bunch of whiners and remember, at the end of the day, we are the Maize and Blue. We support the Team, the Team, the Team. And at the end of the day, we aren't a bunch of mouth-breathers in Columbus, OH.

Go Blue!

What are we averaging, 11 points a game? Offensively we simply can't get it done. Defensively, we aren't going to hold Ohio State to less than 30 points, and that's if they play a little conservative; they go all out they could easily score in the 40's. There was a time my maize colored glasses were on 24/7 but that feeling has been beaten out of me; it's like I'm suffering football related PTSD from the last 7 years.

I get tired of reading people question other individuals/the boards "support of the team". I support this team. We all support this team. However, many people here are realists and know what is the most likely outcome Saturday. I am going to sit on my couch, decked out in maize and blue and cheer my ass off like I do every Saturday just like so many of you. That doesn't mean I expect to win, but neither does me being a realist suggest I don't support the team.

not watching the game.  I have not missed a Michigan game, TV and in person combined, since at least 2005.  I just want to have a nice weekend.  Michigan football brings bad vibes right now, and it affects the remainder of my Saturdays.  I guess I have just decided it is time for me to put this thing aside for now and pick it back up a while from now.

Hey, knowing you have a problem is half the battle. These last 7(minus Sugar Bowl) seasons have made me numb to the fact.

Instead of a loss equaling an anger fueled drinking binge for near two days, I get bummed, I shrug my shoulders, and I go on about my business.

I don't remember the last time I didn't watch the game.  Being a fan always effects Saturday.   When they are good you feel like crap when the don't look good "enough".  Losing when you suck is one thing, losing when you don't suck is MUUUUUCH worse.  How did I feel when Notre Dame beat Michigan after 2 returns by Rocket Ishmal?   Like shit.  How did I feel after Cordell Stewert threw the pass?  Like shit.  I could go on but I might cry.  The point is being a fan always hurts a little.  The lows are always worse than the highs are great.

Agreed.  I was at the Notre Dame game and stayed to the end.  Even as the minutes wound down in the fourth quarter, and the Notre Dame fans began chanting "Nah nah nah nah - hey hey hey, goodbye" I stayed and cheered this team on.

Each game this year after the App St game has been filled with not a lot of joy.  I've kept watching, kept cheering, kept believing.  Dropped passes, turnovers, players and coaches looking lost.  I've witnessed it all and all the while continued to watch what some could not stomach.

We're going to get waxed this weekend.  Barring some kind of miracle coupled with an epic meltdown by Ohio State - this game will most likely be over by the second quarter.  Just because I think that is going to happen, doesn't mean I won't be cheering for them.  It also doesn't mean I'm a whiner.

After the first game of the season this year, rookie Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns Mike Pettit was asked the question "how does it feel coach to know your team never quit, never gave up and almost won?" (The Browns were down 27-3 to the Steelers at half, came back to tie the game but lost on an end of game field goal 30-27).  His answer sums up how I feel about this post:

"There's a term we use in the NFL to describe "almost winning".  It's called LOSING."

I hate that we've sunk so fucking low that moral victories are something we're calling upon for inspiration now.

Sometimes I can't remember where I parked my car. . . . And you want me to remember last year?

There are some things I'd like to remember . . . and there are some things I'd like to forget.  Here's hoping that the ending to this year's Michigan-Ohio State game will be more like the ending to THIS Michigan-Ohio State game.

sorry man, but we are going to get absolutely bombed on Saturday.  This from a person who is always like "really we could win this one if......," but this may get really ugly.

The idea of a 56-7 loss doesn't even make me flinch. We've seen so much ugly from this team, I don't think we could even quantify it anymore.

...there was some dude named Jeremy Gallon...yeah. Maybe the single biggest loss from last year's team. The dude could do so much. He made all the catches. He had huge YAC almost every time. He helped out when the QB was in trouble and broke routes and came back for the ball.

Who does that on this team?

Only way we have a shot is if JT Barrett plays a really ugly game (which is possible!) and we sludgefart out another low-scoring victory.

I was one of the few who was puzzled at the pessimism last year and predicted that the team was gonna pull it together during the Game, which they did.  I also had a bad feeling going into the ND game this year.

I'm frankly scared for Saturday.  This is not last year and Columbus is not Ann Arbor.

You perceive one football program that has successfully modernized itself without internal strife, starting with their seemingly hidebound dinosaur coach, and one program that holds up 3.2 yards a carry with four NFL offensive linemen, Tom Brady, David Terrell, Anthony Thomas, and Marquise Walker as the pinnacle of football.

I think it's good to be optimistic, to be excited, and to play this rivalry up for all it's worth, especially if you are a student.  Even if you are let down this year, the next time Michigan beats these fucking bastards you will remember how you felt after losses, and it will mean more.

 What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Michigan loses toss and receives ball

Uses 5 "well thought out" plays to quickly gain 35 yards

Penalty, negative 2 yard run, dropped pass, Gardner sack, punt

OSU drops 31 unanswered

Hoke claps
