Remeber1973!

The obvious difference being that in 1973, Michigan got screwed because of petty politics and jealousies, where as in 2020 it's more a matter of following the rules everyone agreed to earlier in the year.

Yeah, maybe it was a short-sighted rule. Caving into Buckeye interests is NOT good for the B1G this year or going forward, and would only make the B1G more of their bitch than it already is.

The best thing for the B1G is to follow the rules that were agreed on, let Indiana play in the conference championship game. It's up to the playoff committee whether they want to put Ohio State in their top four or not. If not, let Ohio State take it out in whatever bowl game they end up - which is a chance the '73 Wolverines were never allowed.

And I said, 'We are going to change 'ba-dee-ya' to real words, right?' "

Wrong. Willis says that at the final vocal session she got desperate and begged White to rewrite the part.

"And finally, when it was so obvious that he was not going to do it, I just said, 'What the f*** does 'ba-dee-ya' mean?' And he essentially said, 'Who the f*** cares?'" she says. "I learned my greatest lesson ever in songwriting from him, which was never let the lyric get in the way of the groove."

Exactly, Team101.  I was at that game 47 years ago, on the 40-yard line a few rows up from the sideline.  Like every other student in the stands, and like many other fans, I was dismayed at the Big Ten's decision and felt Michigan got shafted.  I was a senior, and after two decades of watching the Rose Bowl from my cold, damp, and gray hometown, I really wanted to go to Pasadena for the game.  Over time, though, I've come to view the outcome differently.  Although the UM players were understandably disappointed, Ohio State was the better team that day, and the better choice for the Rose Bowl.  The conference got it right.

Ahhhh yes, 1973!! Faint memories of swimming around in the form of a one-cell spermatozoa. Those were simple times. Life was easy....anyway, what were we talking about again?

I can see them caving for the money though.

Every Athletic Department in the conference lost revenue this year. I can see collectively the majority of the athletic directors being in favor of whatever decision would generate the largest conference revenue split, which unfortunately would be giving Ohio State the best playoff chances.

What money?  The CG is B1G money, anyway, and OSU will still be invited into the playoff after beating Iowa in the crossover game.  The proper play here for Warde was a generic 'no comment, I haven't looked at this yet'.  Then not vote one way or the other.

He has no business openly helping OSU flaunt conference rules they agreed to before the season started.

I was in year 2 of my fandom, 10 years old at the time.  Yeah it sucked, kids in my class were all mad as well. Once OSU pounds us, they will have the required number of games to be eligible. If the game is cancelled, the B1G will bend the rules to let OSU in and they will win the B1G with ease and have enough games for the playoffs.

I think a victory over Iowa would be more impressive than one over Northwestern. NU beat Iowa by 1 point early in the season, then proceeded to lose to MSU. Iowa has won 5 in a row including a 49-7 victory over MSU.

Anybody who thinks Michigan would have put up 42 points on USC is delusional. Bo would have sludgefarted Michigan to another offensive explosion of 13 points.

Given Franklin’s injury, the BIG ADs made an unpopular but correct decision.

Bo raised such a vociferous stank about that that the Big Ten finally changed the rules and let non-conf champs go to bowl games.  That actually started in 1976, when freshman Rick Leach couldn't get the win over #2 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.  Michigan was ranked #4...
