Recruiting snowflake thread

Submitted by m1jjb00 on

Maybe the rest of you are smoking a cigarette or are asleep after today, but there are a few things I found interesting.

1.  California has 45 four starts (247 composite).  Michigan got 3 of them (all in top 20).  Notre Dame got 1.  How's the CA scheduling working out for them?

2.  Normally, I think of the state of Ohio as having two four starts to every one in Michigan, but this time it was only 12-9.  OSU obviously did well, but they could have done better had ND not signed the #1 and # 4 recruits in that state.

3.  Illinois is about the same as the state of Michigan in terms of 4 starts on average, but it only had 6 this year to Michigan's 9.  For whaever reason, Sparty leaned up there.

4.  In the B1G footprint west of Michigan/Ohio exluding Illinois, there were 9 four stars.  U of M got three of them, Nebraska 2, OSU and MIN 1 each.

5.  The state of Virginia had 6 four stars.  UVA and VTech got none.  Instead, Marshall, Duke and Stanford each picked up 1.  Two went to FSU; OSU got one.

6.  Pitt did well in Ohio with some low 4 stars/high 3 stars.  Narduzzi might be muscling in on some of Dantonio's territory?

No, I've been asked this many times, I'm not WD. It's pretty idiotic that every time there is a new member of MGoBlog who posts frequently, they are accused of being a WD troll account. Are you saying every thread that I comment in he does as well? I couldn't really make out your reasoning

I have not yet been called WD. In fact I have yet to see anyone else called WD. Yes every post just about. So idiotic I think not. Sounds like something someone who is WD but does not want us to know would say.. I was just asking. So I will believe you ok buddy? Does not matter either way.

5 out of 8 from NJ. Boom.

Took that state by storm so fast that Urbz hired Schiano for the future (at least that's what my inner homer tells me). NJ is underrated. Michigan's dominance in that state this year will certainly create more competition for next year and beyond.

I don't think Narduzzi is taking MSU's croots. I think it's MSU upgrading their overall recruiting in general due to their on field success.

MSU had an interesting day in that one of their commitments didn't sign his letter because he apparently got arrested earlier.

Great class...I'm truly burnt out. Wish we had gotten Vic or Tagaloa today, but it's all good. There still is a 5* kid out of GA who didn't sign today. Wondering what will happen with Dytarious Johnson...we're still recruiting him, but his offer sheet is terrible and there's been no hype on him for awhile. I hope he stays in the class because he's a position of need, pipeline school, and he's stuck with Michigan. Ready to get 2017 rolling. I've posted a stupid best guess list a couple times now. Really want to get McCaffrey, DPJ, Wilson and Slaton right away. Fun day, would've preferred to have the class lined up with exception to Gary and Asiasi. Nordin, Hill, etc. - would've loved to have those guys committed months ago. Happy for Texas...pissed Bama climbed to #1 again. 6 straight for them. Love the charity aspect of SOTS...still want a presser of Harbaugh's take on each guy. Want the Citrus Bowl UFR now that this is over. Those are my snowflakes.

I think the coaches will really need to hit the offensive line hard in this class - especially tackles.  Linebacker is another position to continue to upgrade and build depth.  And as always, we'll need to find a couple more quality CB's.  Aside from that, it will be just looking for difference makers at the skill positions - like a fast, big downfield WR to replace Chesson.

If Pie Young ends up being a star, I'm going to be pissed. Not because I thought he was better than the guys we got, but bc it seemed like he was just waiting for an opportunity to go to Michigan. Plus, it's Pie!
