Recruiting News about Nico Collins & Aubrey Solomon

Submitted by umhero on

Two quick tidbits:

Steve Lorenz is reporting that, on the first day after the the dead period, Jim Harbaugh will use his in-home visit with Nico Collins. Link

Do you think it will be a sleepover?

Sam Webb had an interview with Aubrey Solomon's mom that he played yesterday but was recorded at the U.S. Army All-American Game. In it she said that, "Michigan is her favorite." Her list is Michigan, Georgia Tech, followed by Alabama. She believes Michigan provides a better opportunity after football. She says Aubrey lists them as Alabama first with Michigan and Georgia (not Georgia Tech) tied. It's worth a listen Link. Scroll down and look for "Aubry Solomons mom."

Solomon just likes the attention.  I frankly don't care if we get him or not.  He strikes me as one of those guys that in a few years will be considered as a "dodged bullet"

just recently started using the board after years of reading the blog.  lots of good posts with interesting info or content, the occasional dud appears.  this post is fine, especially with the tidbit on Nico.

i don't get this practice of complaining about everyone's posts and topics that seems so common here.  Like, who cares what somebody else thinks is worthwhile to post?

somebody explain what i'm missing.  I'm not just trolling this commenter, but genuinely curious why this is such a thing here.

Michigan is in the heartland.  I expected a little better manners.

many times. Been on the board for about a year now and I don't get why some people bitch about what someone posts or negging them for their thoughts. If it's coherent and is just water cooler talk what's the reason for negging them or ripping them for their opinion. We all are UM fans and want nothing but good things for all the teams.

Let's analyze your whole post:

1.) He just likes attention. - insult

2.) I could care less if we get him or not. - insult

3.) We'd be better to avoid this future "dodged bullet". - insult

But, you weren't insulting him.  Nope, I'm just new to the internet.  To top it off, you thank the people who are defending you... thing is they are defending you by saying, "if you don't have something nice to say."  That's some fine material right there.

If people never get feedback that their opinion is wrong and stupid then they will never know that their opinion is wrong and stuid and they will keep inflcting their wrong and stuid opinion upon us.  That way lies madness...and trolls.

I have always thought that it's because bad posts knock good posts off the first page and well...in my experience once off the first page search or clicking does not help much.  Post is gone.

Agree...  He didn't owe anyone an apology, but the called sought out, and called, Harbaugh to apologize personally.  People make mistakes - if you stand up and own them, you can move on from them.  No big deal...  I hope to hell he chooses UM, but will wish him luck wherever he goes.

(Just not against Michigan!)

I'm a grown-ass adult and I STILL don't like apologizing when I'm wrong.  It's not easy to do. I figured Harbaugh and company would take a pass on the kid after the F-bomb dropped, and I still wouldn't blame them if they did.  Yes, kids do stupid stuff and he sought to make it right, but actions also have consequences.  So I thought Harbs might take a pass.

BUT I think it's big of the kid to apologize to the staff, University, and fans, and we need more of this these days.

many are people on THIS site that post frequently! If you don't have anything nice to say...then just don't. Even the people who simply say "don't want" based on his comment...what if he reads it? I think this is a rule that should be better policed on the forum (not easy to do unfortunately). Why would he want to come here if fans don't want him?

I think he likes the attention.  But I definitely do want the kid.  If I was in that position I'd be messing with everyone and throwing them off the scent and creating drama.  It's a little more than what we see with most kids but he can play and could be a difference maker right away.

The takes....they are hot today apparently.

As for me, I would take that endorsement from a recruit or a parent of a recruit, that Michigan in their view provides for a better life after football. I think the weight of that cannot be underestimated and you can only hope that it is one of the things which ultimately tilts the scales in your favor.

You don't say?  A teen who is being wooed by some of the best coaches in the world seems a bit of an attention hound.  Really seems out of character for a teenager in today's day and age.

These comments are some of the most tired I see about recruits.  Check yourself out, please.

If Solomon goes to Bama, "in a few years" he'll be declaring for the draft. Bama doesn't have to dodge bullets, Saban catches them in his teeth and spits them back.

I feel what we may have with Solomon is a player who doesn't want to come to "play school" - he wants to play with other straight ballers and move on to the league.

His mother, otoh, sees beyond that immediate desire, to the big picture. So let us hope she has the influence it's been said she does!!!

We need a player of his abilities, and he could use a college experience like Michigan's.

Does 'Bama use downfield receivers much in key games?   Hard to tell watching them in this year's playoffs?  And Sark is another heavy spread guy, right?
