Recruiting at The Game

Submitted by Mercury Hayes on

This one goes out to the posters who asked why Michigan would invite recruits to a game in which they appeared to be outmatched. That's why.

Toe to toe with the No.3 team in the country despite a hobbling QB, and a struggling offense.

I bet the recruits enjoyed themselves despite the loss. They just witnessed Devin Gardner showing what it means to be a Michigan man, and coming one throw from being just about the biggest legend we've ever had in the game.

From start to finish, it was one of the best atmospheres I've seen at Michigan stadium. Crowd was so engaged from the beginning, and after the fight it was just wild. Also, there wasn't nearly as much red as 2009, probably 20-25% which isn't great, but I was expecting worse.  Been to every Michigan-OSU home game since 2001, and I can't recall a time the crowd "brought it" the whole damn game. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.( well except a win of course)

Bring in the recruits for The Game! Show them how hard our guys work against the odds. That, along with the support of the students/fans. I bet they are pumped to get to Michigan and avenge this close loss.

The notion that a single seasons performance dictates a moral victory is asinine, especially for a program of Michigan's status. Do you think Georgia took a moral victory from their loss against Auburn two weeks ago?

Sure, the kids played asses off but a loss is a loss. Even more so against Ohio State.

You're living in lala land. Almost as bad as ND fans "returning to glory." Michigan's recruiting under RR was crummy, especially on the line. For Michigan to play this well against Ohio was huge. I'm sad they didn't get the win. I'm thrilled Hoke went for it. And I'm looking forward to what the recruiting classes will mean next year, the year after, and on into the future. When I watched the MSU game, I was demoralized. This game, on the other hand, gives me tremendous hope that they're getting it, and moving forward in a good way.

What this game told me, was that maybe we are closer than I thought.  It looks like progress.  If OSU was as good as we were told, Michigan should not have been in a position to win it at the end.  Tough play, tough loss, but great effort.  Love playing to win!
