pulled son out of prek and took afternoon off to take him. it's never too early.

visit

How about 2 very well known ex players flying out to meet Mrs Harbaugh to tell her how important this is.

big part of this happening

Mattison will probably get

Mattison will probably get paid close to same amount no matter what (leaving vs staying on)  Might as well stay on for 1 more year to be part of this...

Moller and Wheatley are

Moller and Wheatley are currenly coaching in NFL.  No contact unti after season.  I hate the word epic...but it could be used here....

others to fall in place after NFL season.  Book it....

no sense

No way he is fired before season end.  with 5 million that could go either way...I bet they have an "understanding" in place where JH can walk after the season.  49ers don't owe him...he doesn't owe them.

Bet he is introduced to the team on Monday/Tuesday as the new coach.

Hiring Beverage of Choice?

Although I visit this site 100 times a day...I rarely ever post here.  I think we need a thread for your "MGoBeverage" of choice for the hiring.  Myself...I have 1 bottle of Goose Island Bourbon Barrel Stout waiting for me when Jim comes home.  Just curious if anyone else has a celebratory beverage of choice for special occasions?

DeBord 2.0

This reminds me so much of DeBord.  Most of the season you are pissed at him for being an R-Tard with play calling.  Then the last few games/bowl game happens and all of a sudden you think...."we can make this work next year!".  Thus the endless cycle starts.

This blog has covered this over and over.....but I agree that he needs to go.  Maybe Mattison can talk someone into making the move from NFL to Ann Arbor.  Could Mattison be our best offensive weapon?  Mind Blown....

Agreed...if we were a 10-2

Agreed...if we were a 10-2 team the decision to go for it may have been different.  Love the call...even after several beverages after the final whistle.

well...there goes that idea.

well...there goes that idea.  Poop

incorrect...the first play

incorrect...the first play call was probably a Gardner roll out to the right...just like half of the close games we had this year.  Instead we threw it. I would have been pissed if I saw DG get stopped again on the 1 with 5 people taclking him.

Long story short...Borges reads this blog...and knows too much.  FIRE HIM!

I want another OC just as

I want another OC just as much as the next guy.  Bottom line is...we found ways to score (today).  Proud of the team for letting it hang today.  Now to cheer Alabama and FSU on so that OSU doesn't get a chance to play for a national championship

wasn't talking about "what"

wasn't talking about "what" play to run...just the fact about going for it.  I am sure no one on the team would have said "no...lets play for OT".  You play to win....thats all.  Let em hang...

"Let 'em hang" - Fab 5

I would have done the

I would have done the same...and I am not surprised by the decision to go for 2.  Whether it came from the seinors or Hoke...it was the right call.  You play to win the game.  Period.

disagree...I think it was a

disagree...I think it was a decent play call....Gardner threw it too far inside...hence the pick.  It is easy to go back and 2nd guess the call...especially since we all want Borges sitting next year out.  As usual...Gardner was forced to throw early...coverage was tight.  Still love the decision to go for 2

I'd go with 50%...either we

I'd go with 50%...either we make it or we don't.

Making the drive up from

Making the drive up from Sarasota, FL to Toledo in a few weeks to visit with the Fam.  Great shot...can't wait to enjoy "summer" when it's not 98 degrees and 99% humidity.

It's football...not ping

It's football...not ping pong.  The chances that Gardner will have to come out at some point in the season is really high.  Maybe Morris can have a "practice injury" that he could get a medical redshirt after his senior season.

Sorry, I should have been a

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific.  We played a straight up man to man coverage and a cover 3 zone.  I would say that 90% of the time we played man.  We were taught basic fundamentals of the position, but there was a HUGE learning curve when I went to AU.  I wish I could go more into the various coverages we had at AU...but as a freshman I never really learned all of them.  I ended up running track the following years there.

My point was that although he might have matured and is closer to his phyical peak than some other incoming DB's, mentally he can make a huge jump with how he plays the position.

I played at SV in the late

I played at SV in the late 90s and I am very familar with coach Mayzes and the program.  I am very excited to see a fellow Cougar on the field for Michigan in the next few years!  I am sure his 4.6 40 was recorded at a camp....if it was a "Mayzes 40" its probably more around the 4.8 range.  FWIW, I ran a "Mayzes 40" in 4.4 and was hand timed in the 100 that year at 10.7.  Running in college and getting electrically timed really made me realize how off times can be in HS.

Also, back when I played there I didn't really feel like they got me ready to play ball in college.  I went to Ashland University, a small D2 school as a DB.  Coach Mayzes had 2 main coverages then...man...and zone.  Most of the time he told me to cover the other teams best WR and try not to let him catch anything.  Worked great in HS...but I was not prepared at all for the next level (6 coverages calls, different WR shading and releases, reading multiple receivers at once).

With the great coaching he will get at Michigan I think he will be just fine.  I think physically he can see the field early and contribue early in his career.  Good luck to him...I think he is a great person to represent Southview!  Go Cougars...and Go Blue!

I think I have seen more

I think I have seen more press coverage in this game than all of last season.  It is a slippery slope when you ask inexperienced DB's to press a reciever.  Can either work out really well or really bad.  I think our DB's with their experience should be playing more press coverage.

I played for SV back in 96-97

I played for SV back in 96-97 and there was nothing going on then (that I was aware of).  Mayzes has put together a few great teams there since I graduated.  Hopefully it gets cleaned up.  Good luck to them this year!

As a former D2 college

As a former D2 college sprinter and DB...there is something to say about having track speed.  It doesn't always transfer on the field, but speed is speed.  100m or 40 yards I don't think you will find much of a difference.  A kid that runs in the 10 second range with FAT timing will have a decent 40 time.  Besides, unless you are in the 10.5 range or lower with FAT timing NOT hand timing...you are a 400m runner anyways.

It is nice to have some recruits that qualified for the meet.  Best of luck to all of them!
