That would be the correct choice and I imagine many punters are thinking that if they're punting inside their own 20.

However, I don't blame the punter for being a little surprised. How many times do you see a snap go 50 yards over your head? He was probably freaking out

more possible the refs called it correctly.

For the record, Harbaugh was right and wrong. According to the 2015 NCAA football rules and interpretations book, a punter "loses his roughing or running-into protection by carrying the ball outside the tackle box." So, Harbaugh had a point. However, the rules also state that if a punter "moves laterally two or three steps to recover a faulty snap, or recovers a snap that went over his head and then kicks the ball" ... "does not automatically lose his protection in either case unless he carries the ball outside the tackle box."

I still think the call was bad because after he caught the ball he took several more steps to kick the ball. The rule seems to contradict itself as far as if these steps take him out of the tackle box or if it's normal kicking motion.

I don't know if they didn't print something that clarifies this or if there is no explanation. The punter took several steps after catching the ball which is technically part of his kicking motion and took him further out of the box. I don't think it should be a penalty but the rule should be clarified based on Austrailian style kickers.

field the punt then take steps straight ahead to punt the ball. In this case you have a guy who is taking additional steps to the side after the ball is caught to kick the ball but he is already outside the tackle box. You could really call it either way. It's his normal kicking motion so maybe he should be protected but he is also a substantial ways out of the box and towards the sideline. I think you are asking a lot for the receiving team to hold up hitting the kicker at that point. You're talking about the posibiity of the rusher never having seen the bad snap in the first place.

When things were going well, as in that second GIF which cuts away just as you get the expression on Harbaugh's face following that nice power run into the endzone, his face and fist pump were great to see as well. He's in that game on every level that he can be and it is refreshing to see - it has been a long time.

Looks like he's for real. You "get it" watching the game yesterday - multiple tight ends able to block and move in space. It's like having 250+ lb RBs only running with momentum when they catch the ball - woe to those who try to stop them. Want to see the UFR on Butt, Bunting and Williams this week.

Excellent choices. The Bunting run after the catch and the Houma run are my favorites because they are so Harbaugh. When was the last time we had backups on offense that were that punishing/effective?
