Purdue's Danny Hope Has To Answer For Santino
I hope you haven't forgetten the BUSH LEAGUE move at the end of last year's game. I know I haven't...

"I was a little disappointed that after the game their coach seemed to bring the lineman over like I was the reason that his lineman got suspended for that one game," Rodriguez told reporters in Ann Arbor. "I don’t know where that came from. I talked to him on the phone and told him that wasn’t me that -- this is way back when. I didn’t have anything to do with that young man getting suspended for that one game."

That and the stupid "snake oil" comment. I hope RR saved some special plays for our friend Hope.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:48 PM ^
The snake oil comment was actually from Joe Tiller.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:22 AM ^
I find Hope guilty by association.

but they can both go to hell together.....oh wait, they already spent time in Indiana

Michigan can make a road sweep of the state of Indiana. Would be AWESOME!!
November 10th, 2010 at 9:24 AM ^
Yeah, we could wipe them out.
Seriously, though, I agree.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Indiana is the armpit to Michigan's Hand of America...
November 10th, 2010 at 10:35 AM ^
That's one tiny arm.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
Or one Giant Hand!
November 10th, 2010 at 11:48 AM ^
We beat Purdue and we're 3-0 against teams from Indiana.
November 10th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
...If that's the reason we got Roy Roundtree, then we could use a helluva lot more Snake Oil in our recruitment process. Kid's a baller! #1 jersey look out!
November 10th, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
The play I'm going to pay special attention to this year is the end-of-game handshake. However, RR seems too classy of a guy and will probably just run the standard play.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
think they have to gain by antagonizing the Michigan staff. It's all quite bizzarre.
November 10th, 2010 at 8:58 AM ^
They are poking a bear with a stick. They better be ready for what happens when that bear wakes up.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:21 AM ^
Purdue is all set to become RR's version of the Illini. Bo used to always throttle the life out of Illinois because they fired Moeller after only three years.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:29 AM ^
The best part about that fact is that, with this offense, the bear is actually a fighter plane-flying polar bear armed with nuclear weapons. I don't see any reason to refrain from continuing to put up points. Anything less than 77 points will be uncivilized.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
and say that the reason that Reckman got suspended was because he hit a player not only after the end of a play, but after the end of the game. It was obvious that he hit the guy out of frustration. Danny Hope needs to take his sorry ass porn stache and commence fucking off.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:11 AM ^
No doubt, the player did an unclassy thing and deserved the suspension. Is doing a second unclassy thing going to rectify it? What is Hope teaching the kid? That he is not accountable for his own actions.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
I hope after Saturday's win at Purdue, Rich Rod brings Denard with him to the post-game handshake and says, "This is a future heisman trophy winner, get yourself one."
November 9th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
Id go with the classic "man.. this Roundtree guy I got just never runs out of steam.... think it boils down to his work ethic...?"
November 10th, 2010 at 8:45 AM ^
I especially like the 'boiler' references - steam, boils... Stick it to the Boilermaker..
November 9th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
I hate that Michigan has to even care about teams like Purdue anymore. I hate that Purdue gets to think that it's anything but Purdue. They get to sit and make snide comments and ridiculous statements that aren't true. I would be no happier if we destroyed Purdue this weekend. I'll also take a victory with a slight margin as well.

I hate that UM fans seem to have fuzzy recolection of anything that happened prior to 2008.
1995 W 5-0 H
1996 L 3-9 A
1999 W 38-12 H
2000 L 31-32 A
If coach Rod wins Saturday and at home next year he will have started off against Purdue much like our previous coach... And I left out several subsequent "way to close" victories that we most definitely "cared" about.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:14 AM ^
I seem to remember some pretty good quarterbacks passing through West Lafayette, including two of the top-three NFL QBs this year in terms of passing yardage. Oh, and Mike Alstott.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:23 AM ^
Tiller was ana amazing coach. He had more upsets against ranked than any other coach out there and he put QBs in the NFL. To compare a Danny Hope shit show to Tiller....
November 10th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
That 1995 game was epic. I was a junior that year and by the end of the game the Big House was about 30% filled. It started out cloudy, then it started raining in the first half, then it started sleeting, and then it turned to snow. It was colder than a witches tit and neither offense could do anything in that weather.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:19 AM ^
Didn't we at the time have a long consecutive 102,501 attendance streak (this was before the 1st of 2 rennovations)? Well, this game definitely broke that...it barely cracked 100,000 and the few people that were there for the announcement couldn't have been more surprised we hit that. The attendance is supposedly based on tickets received at the gate...not sold.
Thank god for parents weekend for freshmen and a few other programs or we wouldn't have the XX games above 100,000 streak we have today.
My roommate's dad just kept saying "It was a baseball score!...It was a baseball score!" so many times I wanted to punch him in the neck...well not really.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:36 AM ^
I remember standing there in the student section in the sleet with my arms spread wide, laughing. It was surreal. And I remember the crowd being extremely loud, louder than an average game with probably 1/2 the number of spectators. Those who stayed were definitely true Blue. And cold.
November 10th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
Nate DeLong MVP of that game. Definitely turned the field a few times with his punting. Sad that he didn't stay all four years.
went to my HS, my older brother was his long snapper in HS.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
The attendance is supposedly based on tickets received at the gate...not sold.
No, it's based on sold tickets plus invited guests. That's why the streak dates back to 1975. We obviously did not have anywhere near 100K at the '95 PU game.
November 12th, 2010 at 11:04 AM ^
Funny I saw the bentley.umich.edu page and it says officially two other games in 1995 were below 102,501 and not Purdue:
Virginia (dreisbach/mercury hayes last-play-of-game TD): 101,444
Memphis: 100,862
Purdue: 103,721
See: http://bentley.umich.edu/athdept/football/fbteam/1995fbt.htm
Can you watch the tape again and count the fans at the Purdue game? That would be funny. This guy seems to have it on DVD: http://home.comcast.net/~mman3/games.htm
November 10th, 2010 at 12:39 PM ^
I was going to take my 10 year old daughter to her first game that day. Embarrassed to admit I was in the 70% of no-shows. It remains the only game I ever punted on and watched on TV.
November 10th, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
It was cold a sh-t that day. Definitely not a place for a 10-year-old. If you had gone, she would have been ready to go halfway through the 1st quarter.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
I hope after the game on Saturday Coach Rodriguez walks up to Coach Hope shakes his hand and tells him good game. Show Hope what class is and how to act. That is what a Michigan Man is and Coach Rodriguez is a Michigan Man.

That is what aHope could be one, too - if he apologized.MichiganMan is
November 9th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
... for simply starting a thread that has nothing to do with recruiting a WR.
I agree, that was such a weird thing to do last year. shows really a lack of good judgment, which is obviously a trait you want in a head coach.
Looking forward to the game this weekend. Would love to see the defense show a little more consistency and the offense to keep up what they've been doing. And special teams... well, hell, I don't know. Just hoping we give as good as we get.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
Hey now, don't forget the special teams got a field goal this past weekend. All aspects of Michigan's game are looking up!
November 10th, 2010 at 10:43 AM ^
that this post has its roots in the recruitment of the receiver who currently holds the single game receiving record at the University of Michigan.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
Hope is a clown. Even Purdue deserves better than that
November 10th, 2010 at 3:13 AM ^
Hope is not a clown. Hope is a many-dreaded thing.
Oh wait, nevermind.
