It's not a good look but one dipshit on your team doing this doesn't necessarily speak ill of the coach overall. Creighton mostly gets passed over for jobs because he plays an unappealing style of football for a lot of ADs, MAC coaches in general aren't being given a ton of HC opportunities, and apparently he doesn't do great interviews.

His record at Eastern probably isn't enough to move the needle for a lot of people. He's clearly been EMU's best coach in a long time - taking that program to six bowl games is no small feat - but if you're hiring at a bigger program, it may be difficult to sell a guy to your fanbase who's hovered around .500 in the MAC for several years now, and has only exceeded seven wins once.

The sucker punch was thrown by a grad student defensive back from EMU named Korey Hernandez. He started his career at Arkansas in 2017, so maybe we can get Bert into this story, too.

That's one of the most bizarre beginnings of a fight I've ever seen. I was expecting something that got out of hand after a kneeldown where the DL got too aggressive or something. I'm sure his hand got it worse than that guy's helmet.

Bizarre yes ..... but it's also the 2nd Bowl game in 3 years (Mississippi State vs Tulsa in 2020) where a fight broke out in the post-game, several minutes post-final whistle, while the winning team's band was playing the alma mater! So it's sort of happened before.
Definitely a forgetable end to a disppointing EMU season.

Before this year, EMU went Bowling 5 years out of 6 (I'm admittedly excluding the COVID season, but that was of course a very wonky year). In 2022, they were 9-4 and literally one play away from their first MAC Championship game.
They were picked to finish 2nd in the MAC East this year. As it turned out, they didn't beat a single FBS team that had more than 4 wins, they needed OT to beat 2-10 Akron, and were absolutely run off the field by both Toledo and South Alabama.
Creighton has raised the bar there, it's not the depths of the early 2010s. It's fair to say this was a disappointing season there.

I am not aware of what, if anything, happened prior to that punch, but that is uncalled for. The Eastern player deserved what happened to him.
I hate sucker punchers. Be a real man and confront the person. If a fight happens, it happens, but at least the other person knows what is happening. Sucker punching is a flat out bit€h move. Done by people that are cowards.
Plus, it is only a game, not even a big bowl, or a team going for a national title. Not worth the backlash that will happen after something like that.

Agree on most points, but perhaps consider a counterpoint that being a "real man" actually involves not succumbing to your ego in such a way that one would feel the need to confront anyone in such a way that could lead to a fight.
