I just want to be reasonable about replacing perhaps the best guard combo in UM history.  Kind of like bringing in Nugent was great this year.  But he failed to live up to Olu.  A NW guard who made all B1G isn't going to be Keegan/Zinter.

On the other hand, if he can bring in some of Fitz's manly hazing culture, that would help us take the next step as a program.

Next year is a new team. Just like this years team was different than last years. It’s not about being as good or better than the guys leaving. TK and ZZ are gone regardless.

Hate to quote sweater vest but I really think he said it best along time ago.  How this years team will perform has nothing to do with who’s not here. It’s about who is.

"Priebe takes home All-Big Ten honors for the first time in his career. The senior captain from Niles, had an outstanding season leading the Northwestern offensive line, starting all 12 games at left guard. Behind Priebe, Northwestern rushed for 90-plus yards eight different times and scored 14 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, Northwestern’s line allowed two or fewer sacks on five separate occasions. Priebe’s outstanding protection was highlighted by his allowance of zero pressures against Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa and Purdue, per Pro Football Focus. According to PFF, Priebe posted a pass blocking grade of 80.0+ in four different games this season"

"Additionally, guard Josh Priebe was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team. The senior captain allowed 17 pressures and had a 97.5 PFF efficiency, the best among any NU O-lineman."

Couple things I found. PFF sucks but it's something.

His NWU bio lists him as a senior.  I’m ASSuming that he has (or will) have degree in-hand, as Michigan likely won’t accept any bumbass Northwestern credits!  When I was at UofM (1996-21), NWU was on trimesters, those credits are only worth 1/3rd, tops.

I used to drive my kids to school on Sheridan Rd, which cuts right through the Northwestern campus. The students would bolt across, dodging traffic, and not use the myriad crosswalks. In the snow, when cars were more likely to lose control, it was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. So.....maybe book smart, but not life smart.

Not to be argumentative, Wendy, but Michigan students do the same thing.Between my father’s experience as a FedEx driver and my own from decades driving in Ann Arbor I can attest to this. Being young can fill one with exuberance and a false sense of security.

Between this and the townies riding bicycles without a care in the world Ann Arbor is an obstacle course for drivers.

I had a townie on his bicycle in the summer do a u-turn on his bicycle right in front of my car.(He was off to my side when he started his insane maneuver) Fortunately, I had put plenty of space between my car and his bike.

Always take a team captain with 80% PFF ratings in four B1G games.  His being from Niles probably helped.  That said, we are hopefully still searching for at least one stud tackle on portal.

Northwestern beat out our entire conference for this guy when they signed him. He also enrolled early so he just completed his 8th semester there. Hopefully that means he graduated and can join our team right away. I'm not sure if he redshirted in 2021 or not but if he did then he'll have two years of eligibility left.

Fun fact, Josh is 40 years old and is bringing a blunt approach to the O line.

Oh wait, wrong guy. My bad.

Jokz aside, this is a great pick up. He is another "culture" guy who was a solid starter for NW.

Priebe’s All-Big Ten selection in the first of his career, as the captain started all 12 games at left guard for the Wildcats this season. According to Pro Football Focus, Priebe produced a pass blocking grade of 80.0 or more in four games this year.

Hadn’t even heard him being connected with us but definitely a nice pick up. Seems like he’ll be competing for a starting guard spot with El Hadi and Anderson. Should be a pretty solid spot on the OL

Olu was from UVA, Drake/Hinton from Stanford, and Priebe from Northwestern. Seems like Moore has a type when it comes OL transfers.

Only Henderson came from a non elite academic school.
