Good morning and Happy Saturday MGoFriends!

Portal is officially closed from Harbaugh’s departure! Let’s celebrate with a Posbang!

Happy we made it through the first window relatively unscathed, but considering the NCAA cannot enforce NIL rules and it will be far easier academic wise to transfer in the next window, it’s probably best to be cautiously optimistic.

Anybody can be contacted at any point and enticed with any amount of money for pay for play and there are ZERO safeguards against it. I think we are going to see unprecedented movement in the next portal window around the country.

Oh you with those pesky facts and logic.

Yeah, I saw this thread and thought the same thing.  This is like throwing a party to celebrate you're going to live forever because you didnt die today.

It's coming.  Unless we dramatically change our institutional approach to the NIL during this window the exodus is definitely coming.

That works both ways now.  We need to make our shopping list and then go raiding the rest of college football unabashedly.  NIL stands for Now It's Legal

Our NIL can't be that bad that the reigning National Champions can't go pluck off some key players from other also-ran programs.

I think by all reports the collectives really did step up in terms of NIL and making sure they were retaining the current roster.  And I do think our NIL game is much better on the roster retention side of things.  Where we’ve fallen short is in terms of recruits and guys who are not on campus yet.

We will of course lose guys during the April window.  But they will be the more standard typical portal attrition versus further transition costs.

Depends on who enters the portal. I think we’re sitting okay to the point where it doesn’t make sense to add just for the sake of adding. If you’re not getting a clear upgrade.

I think Denegal and Tuttle are capable of providing a Cade-esque option at QB, and if Orji shows improvement as a passer he has some significant upside there. Unless you’re talking about getting someone like Cam Rising to enter the portal, I’d rather just stick with the guys who have been in the system a few years.

I'm with Brian on this one.. If someone pops free I'm sure we sniff around but it doesn't feel like a Jake Rudock is gonna be available. And who's to say Jack Tuttle isn't already the Jake Rudock of 2024?

Seems unlikely a high level talent is gonna shake free after spring then come in and learn fast enough over the summer and fall and be better than what we have now.

Not that they would be necessarily be upgrades OR consider Michigan,  but I want to remind you that Ohio State waited to announce their transfer QB and also got a “nominal transfer” 5* frosh AFTER the portal closed for their guys.  I suspect at least one OSU QB will hit the portal this Spring.

Don't worry, rival fans have already moved the goal posts to saying that everyone will leave in spring. We will probably lose some players in spring from usual attrition or guys who don't love the new staff, but if anyone was going to bail for money they would've done so already imo
