Plaxico Burress is designing a men’s "luxury hosiery line"
Plaxico Burress is launching a men’s "luxury hosiery line." Between this, Datbull 4 Life, and Andre Rison being featured on the 30 for 30 "Broke," it has been a banner year for Sparty wide receivers.
he needs the money for more handguns. Shit adds up.
made of kevlar in case another accident in a club happens....
I was thinking the undies would be "made of kevlar in case he has to do more time."
Insert Charles Rogers jokes here...
I am sure to be a thread outlier here and say I kind of like the idea. Socks! I don't think the market is yet saturated for cool socks.
Now, whether Burress is the right celebrity athlete to roll one out this line is another question altogether.
I fully agree. I live in Seattle, and can get good wool socks up here. And you can get decent, not great, dress socks at most department stores. But I usually have to travel to LA if I want to get a good caual sock for the warm weather months.
It wouldn't surprise me if the idea of "casual" socks is more prevalent in Northeastern cities than in Southern California. Casual socks are the socks you wear with your fashionable casual attire. Out here, if you are heading out for dinner and drinks with friends, you throw on a pair of nice dark jeans, a colorful casual sock, and some rich leather shoes. Athletic socks don't go with anything other than athletic shoes, and very few city dwellers wear athletic shoes casually.
Still confused. These casual socks... are they plaid or striped or argyle or what? I mean, are they brown and black, or childish colors? I know nothing of Southern California (nor do I particularly want to... especially of their dragon-shirted, sparkly and sequened fashion sense... for men) but I would like to know what "casual" socks are. I have two types of socks, 1. argyle black or brown socks for suits, 2. white socks for working out. What else could you need? I'm genuinely confused. And don't you dare say these "casual" socks have the little toe holes... Mexico can take ya'll back if that is the case.
If he can introduce socks with bands up top that don't cut off circulation to my ankles and thus induce giant vericose veins like 95% of socks out there, I'll buy his shit in droves.
Do you even lift bro?
If he actually has problems finding socks that don't "cut off his circulation" (!?) then I'd probably be asking if he "Hover-rounds" not if he's hitting the gym....
We should start a support group. Seriously. I have spent way too much time in the endless search for good socks.
ETA: That said, Lands End have been a good find, and they come in sizes (!!).
Do you have cankles?
I have a few pairs of these I wear when I'm on a plane (average 4-6 times a month) and they're pretty awesome.
....you sexy thing
Here is a sampling from the associated picture gallery:
Supposedly, Burress plans to expand into bow ties, cuff links and belts too.
Do you have to wear your pants like Urkel?
Fashion's new flavor of the month.
None of them look too happy, or maybe that is the "take these socks seriously" look.
I'm not sure if purplesocks is shedding a tear or finally getting that annoying eye booger.
I'm sure will be interested in a few pair, too.
That is taken territory.
an 80s pop band. Any idea on the name?
They're dressed like idiots.
Well, of course he is.
While I usually wear fairly expensive clothing, I would not spend $24 for a pair of freaking socks. I understand that socks are part of the outfit and, at times, should stand out if possible, but $24 for a pair of socks is simply asinine.
Is there any possible stronger indictment of the fashion design industry than the fact that it's forever being used by rappers and folks like Plaxico Burress to expand their personal brands, and that they're usually successful in doing so?
“The ultimate goal is to get into bow ties, cuff links and belts,” he said.
Cuff links, huh? Thought he could just settle for cuffs. He's a pro with those already.
any man who wears sweatpants to a club is perfectly capable of designing luxury apparel...
What if he was going to a strip club before or after the dance club? Who'd be the dummy then for NOT wearing sweatpants?
I'll stick with Twin City.
Personally I love a good pair of socks so I don't think this is hilarious. Dress socks, casual socks, workout socks (Twin Cities!)...never been a sandals guy
Guys, this isn't a terrible idea. Men's accessories are going to be a big deal. If Denard decided he would do this would you laugh?
But yeah, Burress has not made the best decisions in his night life, so we can all laugh at that.
You don't wear a belt? You don't wear a tie?
Laugh it up, buddy, but with Mad Men reminding us of how men are supposed to dress, things are trending toward better men's fashion.
Especially from a guy who is known more for going to jail for shooting himself in the leg than his football career and thought it was fashionable to go to the club in sweatpants. Do you really believe this will be a successful business venture?
Maybe this business works if it was launched by someone famous like Jay Z, Derek Jeter, or Tom Brady. Not by a guy who is a running joke. No one is going to pay a premium for Plaxico socks.

Belt. Occasionally. Tie, NEVER. I work in a hospital - scrubs. Ties are filthy dirty. And since I live in Florida, I prefer sandals. Honestly, fashion is for people who are into that stuff. I thought mad men wore straight jackets anyhow.
