Pistons trade Livers to Wizards
Not to bring down the mood by talking about the terrible Pistons, but Woj reporting they just traded Livers and Marvin Bagley to the Wizards along with two 2nd rounders in return for Danilo Galinari and Mike Muscala.
Sad to see Livers go, and I wish I could say it was to greener pastures, but the Wizards are also terrible. Kinda funny to see a trade between two of the absolute worst teams though.

Reunited with Poole so that's cool I guess. Det @ Wash on Monday

Saves on airfare, too.

That was probably a big plus for Washington, reuniting Poole with a familiar face. Might help Isaiah out too. I don't know who the players Detroit recieved, but chances are if they could shoot before, they'll get mired in a slump, lol.

Just like when Webber was reunited with Juwan in DC.

Pistons pulling out all the stops to try to secure that coveted 4th win.

And it opens up the necessary cap space for the Bojan Supermax extension.

Am I the only one that didn’t know that Galinari was still in the league?
January 14th, 2024 at 11:39 AM ^
He's old, and still a pretty decent player.
January 14th, 2024 at 11:46 AM ^
And he's also an expiring contract.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:27 PM ^
I don't really follow the NBA unless the Pistons are good. This is the first I've ever heard of this 35 year old player.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
I also haven't followed the NBA since 2008.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:59 PM ^
I just checked on the Pistons for the first time since they broke the streak. They're back up to 7.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:17 PM ^
Am I the only one that doesn't know who Galinari is?
January 14th, 2024 at 11:34 AM ^
If they keep this up, they will continue to be monumentally bad.
January 14th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
Looks like the deal is mainly a salary dump to get off the money we owed Bagley next year. Terrible signing by the Pistons.
For his part, Livers was having a pretty rough shooting year, hitting a career-worst 28.6% from 3.
January 14th, 2024 at 12:23 PM ^
Yeah, I like Livers but he's supposed to be a 3&D guy who can't shoot nor defend particularly well. Maybe a change of scenery will help.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:34 PM ^
Getting any sort of value (Gallinari expiring and cap space) out of moving Bagley off this roster should be viewed as a net positive.
Now, next easy logical steps say move out Wiseman and his wasted money ... try to lock down Beef Stew and Duren as your two bigs who rim run but don't stretch. Then look to stretch with bigs.
Joe Harris is about to come off the books, it'd be nice to get something for his expiring deal. And then it's time to get something out of Bojan. Probably a year late on that, but I don't know what they're being offered so won't be too critical.
January 14th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
...and the Wizards trade gizzards to lizards.
I love Dr. Suess
January 14th, 2024 at 12:24 PM ^
Someone should make a band name out of that
January 14th, 2024 at 11:38 AM ^
Livers gets to go from a three-win team to a seven-win team. 🤣

From the outhouse to, well, a slightly less smelly outhouse.

The Titanic is sinking! Let's re-arrange the deck chairs!
Oh wait ..... another ship is nearby, and that ship is sinking too! Let's exchange deck chairs!

3-36 who cares, this all about cap money for next year.
January 14th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
Yeah to sign all those guys banging down the door to play for Detroit…
January 14th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
Gordon Hayward is Free agent. I bet he is willing to be overpaid, again.
January 14th, 2024 at 11:59 AM ^
I'll never forget the memories he gave me while playing at Michigan - but I'm gonna be honest. He was horrible on the Pistons. I hope his game comes back for the Wizards. But cool to see him back with Poole again!
January 14th, 2024 at 12:01 PM ^
The MGoGirlfriend is going to be heartbroken. Livers was her favorite player at Michigan and Detroit.
January 14th, 2024 at 12:05 PM ^
How many points do you need to get an MGoGirlfriend?
January 14th, 2024 at 12:12 PM ^
The less, the better.

Should reduce Poole’s continued PTSD over getting sucker punched in practice
January 14th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
Loved Livers as a Wolverine, but he's not really good enough for the NBA. At least now he's Washington's problem.
As for Troy Weaver, the man continues to astound. Sent Lyles and two seconds out for Bagley, signed him to a huge contract that no one else was offering, then packages two seconds in a desperate move to get rid of him.
On the bright side, Galiardi and Moscala's expiring contracts now give us $39M in cap space that I'm sure Troy will find a good use for.

January 14th, 2024 at 12:18 PM ^
Statistically Livers is the worst defender in the NBA and near the bottom in offense. Glad to jettison him.
January 14th, 2024 at 12:37 PM ^
Troy Weavers choices with Marvin Bagley have always confused me. Why did you trade for him when we had a logjam at the position. Why resign him to an over market contract… why does he still have a job?
January 14th, 2024 at 12:50 PM ^
Yeah, that was the problem.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
4th pick, here we come!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
Oh Isiah!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
As a Pistons fan good bye, he provided nothing on either end of the floor.

I read this thread title and thought that, in a last-ditch effort to improve their team’s record, Detroit’s NBA basketball players will have their their largest solid body organs removed and sent to Hogwarts for rejuvenation.

I hope he eventually finds the right spot for him in the NBA. Good luck Isaiah -nothing but good vibes for a fine young man!
