Steele has Michigan wining this weekend 37 to 24. Sounds just about right to me.

exactly! vegas gives a 3 point advantage to the home team because there actually is an advantage to being the home team. in other words, vegas picks us to win against uconn in the big house. i dont really care which team they think is better, i just care that they pick us to win.

actually i dont really care who picks us to win. i just care that we win.

They don't try and figure winners. They try and figure what number will get an equal amount of betting on both sides. So they feel and move the number till they get that result. They may feel U-Conn is better, but everyone will bet Michigan if they're getting points (bigger fanbase, dumber betters, more historic rep or recognition, etc.) Who wil win is just one factor in all that.

not true, the goal of vegas is to make money. they will encourage the public to bet on the wrong side of the line if they believe they are right. this is often why you see lines move in the same direction as the public favorite. the goal is not always to get "even money", it is to make the most profit possible.

They LOSE a lot of money. Ideally they want it split even, so the wins cover the losses, and they make the money on their cut. The Vig, as it were.

he difference between what is wagered and what is won is called the 'Juice' or 'VIG'. This 'Juice' or 'VIG' is one of the ways a sports book makes its money. In football and basketball the 'Juice' (or 'VIG') is 10%. In other words, for every $110 wagered you will win $100. If you lose the wager, you lose $110. If you win the wager, you get the $110 'Juice' refunded to you, plus the $100 in winnings ($110 + $100 = $210 total paid back to your account).
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=vig I don't doubt sometimes they do that, but it's a risky proposition. And not the way to regularly make money.

Rich Rod pulling a Wyatt Earp on Randy Edsall after the game?

It Otta be at least 10 pt spread. Have to assume that weak secondary is a big deal to Vegas. That together with uncertainty at qb is enough to drive spread down to only 3 which is bascally a vote for pickem absent home field. I think well score at least 40. Whether we get plau actioned for 42 is another question entirely. Gotta think that the d line can put enuf pressure to Hilda them t 4 touchdowns tho.
