Phil Knight stepping down at Nike
An interesting development to happen at the exact time we are about to announce our apparel contract. Nike chair Phil Knight, of Pimp my Middling Athletic Department fame, is stepping down. There's absolutely no way this has anything to do with us, right? I'm guessing the answer is somewhere between no and audible laughter that I even suggested it... The guy is 76. This is just weird timing.

Wonder how this wil affect Oregon's athletic department
I bet they go to Adidas.
who is the girl in your avatar/gif?
si senor.
Googling her now...NICE!
watch M announce a deal with Nike and Dave Brandon take over....OH CRUEL FATE
Well he can't do that until he screws with Toys R Us.
...which could be any day
Knight also says he will transfer most of his Nike stock to a limited liability company called Swoosh LLC
and said he has been noticing visitors coming in. Based on this traffic he said he would be shocked if Nike isn't announced very soon.
What are you saying? Don't understand.
I dont understand... even if we switch to Nike, we still have to wear Adidas for another year.

How much creative control did Knight have? Just curious if we'll see any difference with him in or out like some other companies.
Average retirement age: 78.7
Percent to die in office since 1789: 54.4
Rehnquist is the only one to die in office since 1955, and justices are retiring later than in the past.
But they're practically a bunch of spring chickens these days. Last time I looked the Senate had a bunch of guys in their 80s and some in their 90s...McCain in his mid-70s was like #15 in age. Now the median age is 61, there are only five over 80, and the oldest is Feinstein (just turned 82 in June). So scratch that.
Said on there Knight has advised the board to find his replacement and recommended the current CEO take the Chair when he steps down. I don't remember them saying that he was stepping down and I have not read the official statement from Nike.
Also. I saw someone posted about Oregon. I doubt this will affect them much in the short term. But once Phil passes away, I wouldn't be stunned to see them eventually slip back into mediocrity. How many historical no name programs have made it to the big time and held on long term? Oregon has had a nice 10+ year run. But somewhere down the road I'm guessing they regress.
