I think it's a freaking joke that Stribling and Glasgow did not at least get ONE First Team honor. Both are gonna be NFL draft picks.

I probably would have voted for Jourdan Lewis as Defensive Player of the Year.

But hey, yay for popularity contest awards.

Peppers played the whole season, in contrast with those two, and he was the lynchpin for the best defense in the conference. Yeah, Lewis and Charlton were incredible. Peppers was otherworldly and controlled what the offense did on every play.
Seriously. How often did offenses throw screens or run edge plays in his direction? There's a reason it almost never happened.

Earlier in this thread, you complained that Peppers' lacks of stats made him undeserving. Now, you're claiming it should've gone to McMillan, who has fewer solo tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, and interceptions.
Your argument is a piece of poop.

You truly are a master debater.

I would even go as far as arguing that Peppers might not be the "best" LB on this Michigan team. While I think Peppers is very derserving but I would say that he isnt even one of the top 3 maybe even 5 defensive players on this team.

I would go with Iowa's Josey Jewell. Only Butkus Award finalist in the B1G: 114 tackles, 5 TFLs, 0.5 sacks, 8PBUs and 1 FF.

But I thought Peppers was totally overrated...

Not sure what "production" people wanted out of him. Nobody threw against him, nobody attempted to gain the edge against him, and basically with few exceptions he made exactly the play he needed to and more every time he was in position to do so. Teams built their entire gameplans around staying out of his neighborhood.
There's a reason that McCray had been identified as Michigan's edge weakness all year, and the reason was that nobody edged Peppers. They always went the other way.

Actually this may be true. It is hard to measure exactly how much a lockdown CB helps your team. Lewis essentially locked down his side the whole year.
OTOH, hard to measure how much Jabrill killed spread offenses this year. Either way, both had unreal seasons.
November 29th, 2016 at 6:43 PM ^
Well some guy named Charles Woodson was a lockdown CB who took away one side from the field and I would say that it helped the team a lot. Haha.
I am not a defensive coach by any means but I would guess having a CB like Lewis isnt a bad thing at all and I think people will really realize how much we miss him next year.

Peppers is def going to the NFL. No way his draft stock is not sky high. Nothing left to prove at this level. Would feel so much better if this team got a CFP shot.

First team coaches, second team media somehow.

Ryan Glasgow not making 1st team all big ten is ridiculous. He was by FAR the best nose tackle in the conference. You could argue that he was the best player on our defense period
November 29th, 2016 at 6:43 PM ^
You had to know this would happen. "Gritty" "throwback" "lunch pail carrying" "white guys" on the DL don't get the recognition they deserve.
But that's OK, because they keep their nose to the grindstone and outwork their opponents to overcome their lack of elite athleticism. Get ready to read that over and over again as the draft nears.

Larger question is, who, if anyone, gets any attention besides Butt? Maybe honorable mention for a guy like Darboh or Speight (though I suppose Speight could make second team). That's probably it, though.
November 29th, 2016 at 6:54 PM ^
I think he'll be third team. Maybe a split Second/Third.

I'm honestly surprised that DPoY didn't go to Malik Hooker. I hate that team, but I can't deny that Hooker has been dominate this season. Probably the best season I've seen a safety have in a long time: 67 tackles, 5 TFLs, 1 sack, 4 PBUs, and 6 INTs (3 of them returned for pick-6s)
