So, the question I have is is whether Hackett will stay on as a permanent AD or whether Michigan is going to recruit a permanent, classic AD.  If the latter, we now have competition.

We lost a couple hundred years of organizational experience to Brandon's housecleaning and still have an athletic department mostly staffed with his empty suits.  Hackett's skills notwithstanding, we are no where near out of the woods, and should probably avoid the temptation to gloat.  I think schadenfreude's still on the table though.

Dave's boys will be gone soon. That's the main reason Hackett is here on such a long interim spell, to weed out the brigade of cronies so the full-time AD isn't overwhelmed with how many people he has to fire and hire in his first few years on the job and can actually focus on being a real AD.

Guys, let's be nice to our current athletic department employees. Just because Brandon brought them in doesn't mean they are not smart, dedicated, and competent. In fact, JUB pointed out Brandon went out of his way to find the best people he could, and I am confident most are in fact great at their jobs. A little bit of outside perspective might have been what the dept needed at the time they were hired. And now they have been around the AD and university for a year or more, they have probably learned a lot about the culture of the University, especially in the time since Brandon himself left. The ones most loyal to DB probably left already anyway (see Lochdogg).

Bacon makes it pretty clear that Brandon himself was the problem in the yes-man culture he created. I have to believe that Hackett, Schlissel, and many other nameless AD employees have worked hard to turn it around.

Calling "Dave's boys" "empty suits" is akin to casting aspersions on 90% of the current football roster because they were recruited and played for Brady Hoke. Leadership matters, and people are adaptable and generally good.

Just finished up grad school in May from UT. Was able to endure Dave Brandon and Steve Patterson back-to-back! In 6 consecutive years of higher education, I come out of it watching Rich Rod, Brady Hoke, Mack Brown, and Charlie Strong combine for 45 wins and 32 losses. I'd bet good money that is the worst six year stretch possible to attend Michigan and Texas when it comes to SPORTS.

College football has REALLY sucked for me lately, you guys.
