They would have to be totally nuts to fire him.  Totally nuts.  He's at the very start of Year 2 of a program that was thoroughly medicore for 4 years before he got there.  He's just coming off of an extremely successful first HC job, and was a knock-out coordinator.

It's pretty much a RR situation, and he should get, at the bare minimum, the same amount of time RR got.  Really, I think the school is better off allowing at least four years in these situations.  We've seen firsthand the kind of turmoil that comes when you pull the plug prematurely without an A+ hire lined up and ready to go.

If they get the hire right - hiring a real human being would be a good place to start - then Texas athletics seems like it could be what it has been -  a place where historically the sky really is the limit.

Also, this policy of his is pretty stupid:

Patterson also implemented a stiff ticket resale policy. Under the new rules, season ticket holders cannot sell their tickets on the secondary market if they have the grandfathered Longhorn Foundation donation, which is typically a lower amount than what’s required for new buyers.

Making people eat the cost of tickets and give them zero chance to recover money if they can't go? Yikes.
