Jim McElwain to Florida
Jim Tressel to Nebraska
and last but certainly not least...
Jim Harbaugh to Michigan

I heard that Tressel rumor...that true he verbally accepted?!?!

didn't want anyway, move on, nothing to see here.

No news on that yet. May never get full details.
Liked McElwain as a Plan B option but a $7.5 million buyout is insane.

$7 and a family sized bag of Fritos.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:38 AM ^
The negotiations were supposedly dropping the buyout to $3MM, and Florida agreed to a home and home with CSU, with CSU's home game either being played in their stadium or in Mile High in Denver.
That makes for an interesting twist to poaching coaches from smaller schools, if it ends up happening.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:48 AM ^
Michigan would have to play a home & home with the 49ers....ouch.
December 4th, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
It will so suck if that game gets played in the Diaphragm. It would be so much cooler for CSU to get UF in FC. Of course, there's about zero chance, if it comes to pass, that it won't be played in the NFL's soulsuck in Denver...

Thank god. Get a coach I'm not thrilled about off the board to the one coaching vacancy above UM on the desirability list currently.
December 4th, 2014 at 11:08 AM ^
Did you say above UM? I fail to see why that is the case. I mean recruiting advantages and weather yes, but less tradition, alumi support, harder SEC path and facilities are nice but probably lag behind Michigan's. And it's not like FLA is coming off good seasons. Maybe that job is about on par with Michigan's but I wouldn't put it above ours.

They have won three national titles in the last 20 years or so.

One less big job to compete with

but I'd be happy with their record...
December 4th, 2014 at 10:21 AM ^
I read last night that Florida was giving CSU a home & home in football as part of their compensation for the buy-out.
I think this would be the first time since the early 90's that Florida will play outside of the south. Let's hope CSU schedules that game for late November.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:55 AM ^
In 2013 they played in Columbia MO. Technically I don't think Missouri is in the south but they are a conference opponent.
In 2006 they played OSU for the national championship in AZ. Again Technically Arizona isn't the south but it was a bowl game. Before that the last time they left the south (loosely defined to include Missouri and Arizona in this instance) was '91 when they played at Syracuse in a regular season non-conference match up.
In summation this home and home with CSU is a big deal.
December 4th, 2014 at 1:54 PM ^
So..."technically", you agree with me.
December 4th, 2014 at 2:01 PM ^
It has to be nice to basically play every single game over the past 25 years except 3 within your conference footprint.

You broke the page with your picture. I'm impressed.

If true, this strikes me as Florida hoping McElwain is a little like Meyer coming from Utah.
The parallel is not quite perfect ... but this is definitely something different from hiring on an established big-name coach like Mullen.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
McElwain has a circle of trust, too?
December 4th, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
Dee Hart to UF?
December 4th, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
So McElwain is off the table then.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ^
Glad they didn't take anyone I consider a top target of ours.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:28 AM ^
Confirmed: Harbaugh to Nebraska
December 4th, 2014 at 10:35 AM ^
No, he is already signed at Kansas. Remember? His wife is from there and makes all the decisions in the family.
December 4th, 2014 at 11:02 AM ^
Ah, but does he have a decided schematic advantage? I know he's missing the Super Bowl ring to wave under everyone's nose.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:27 AM ^
That's wonderful news. One less major program to compete with for whoever we end up with's services.
In all seriousness - unless some major unforseenable events occur we are VERY fortunate to be in the coach-shopping market this year instead of last year. Think about who we would be bidding against (Texas, USC, Penn State, ect) unlike this year where the only other major program just went off the grid and got the guy they wanted.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:29 AM ^
Is Nebraska not a major program? Hopefully they will end up with Bielema, but if you can believe anything a coach says during a coach search, BB's not interested.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:33 AM ^
If they aren't a major program, they are right on the cusp. But it doesn't seem like their coaching search is going to be the same as Michigan's. If BB was one of their first choices, it doesn't seem like they want the home run hire. Don't be surprised to see Scott Frost named the head coach there.

December 4th, 2014 at 10:55 AM ^
Tom Brady would've used 'their' correctly.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:58 AM ^
I agree with you, but if they don't want the home run hire, then why on earth did they fire Pelini?
This just smells like diasater in the offing.
December 4th, 2014 at 10:51 AM ^
I don't think they have nearly the financial resources that Texas, USC and Michigan do if a bidding war errupted for a mutually identified target. Penn State would be, to me, more Nebraska-ish in their ability to pay.
