No-brainer. Best player in the entire draft.
The Lions have had a fantastic off-season and will be a much better team next season.
Another solid pick for Mayhew and Schwartz.
may the ghost of Matt Millen finally be exorcised...
hopefully this goes better than the last time the Lions picked at #2
Edit: note the "I'm about to get so much money and totally bust" look on Rogers face. Either that, or he was just high as a kite
Have you ever seen so much fail in one picture? Three total disasters in one photo.
who's the number one loser has brought on a mild-headache.
I thought about the same thing, and it's probably not Mooch, but choosing between literally the worst GM in the history of GMs and the lazy, selfish, drugged-out waste of space is pretty tough.
Aren't you sad though that Rogers screwed up the opportunity he had?
Calvin Johnson was the last time the Lions picked #2.
YES!!! Yes Yes Yes yesyesyesyesyes!!!! We got Suh! We got Suh! We got Suh!
I've never been so happy about a Lions first round pick in my life. THIS IS AWESOME.
I was a tad happier about that Sanders fellow.
I was like eight when that happened, so I didn't have any concept of the draft. Being happy after the fact doesn't count. And the Lions didn't yet have this storied history of fucking up a pick as badly as it's possible to. McCoy would have been fine, but Suh is the prize of the draft.
I mean Megatron!! Yeah, Calvin Johnson, that's who I was thinking about.
Congrats to the Lions! In the past they would have picked up a punter... with arthritis.
Never say the Lions "Can't miss on this one!"
That being said...
Geez I love my man named SUH.
THEY DIDN'T SCREW THIS UP!
*Goes back to studying before flipping it back for the 2nd round pick*
24-hour study session, huh? Hardcore.
You can turn the TV off and focus on studying until tomorrow night then as 2nd round is tomorrow!
Whoa turbo, still have to find out where BG goes
Not a fan of the ironic Suh-type chants, but I am a fan of this guy. Seems like a class act guy and he is one hell of a football player. Well done Lions staff, I think we are turning a corner as far as the draft goes. Millen really screwed us. Hopefully this almost entirely new defense should be a big improvement. Let's hope it turns into some W's this year.
Congrats, Lions fans! I'm pulling for you.
Watching Gerald McCoy cy is the exact reason why I absolutely love college football. These young men put so much time and effort into the sport that they love. It is great to see them take their games to the next level. I love Suh, McCoy, and every other college football player that help make this the greatest sport on the face of the planet!
... I'd like to see them get Toby Gerhart and a solid secondary player. Toby's no fluke, IMHO.
Took the safest pick for them. If I were a Lions fan, I would have liked for them to take Okung, but can't argue with the pick of Suh.
If the Lions had taken Okung I would have thrown things at the TV. I might still be doing it.
As a side note, has one school ever had three of the first four picks like this? This is definitely Oklahoma's draft - how did they have such a lousy season?
...one of them didn't play very much this season.
You could that that is why they had such a lousy season. Great individual players with no team unity

They lost the best quarterback and the best tight end in the country for most of the year (or in Gresham's case, all of the year) and lost a bunch of really close games, off the top of my head BYU by one, Texas by two, and Miami by two, none of those at home. They still finished 8-5 but once Landry came in, the shit hit the fan. Oh and other than Williams, their o-line was really bad at the beginning for those losses.

big game stoops!!!
/sarcasm
tho, to be fair they were hit by the injury bug rather hard last year(2 of the 4 were out after game 1, before game 1 in gresham's case)
side note: great pick by the bengals, gresham is gonna be a monster.
Good thing they don't recruit well.
edit- Just beat me to it, and no I don't believe so. It's really incredible.
This wasn't the safest pick; it was the only pick. I am flabbergasted that they got it right this time. I know the sport is different, but being a Detroit fan, I am used to stuff like the Darko Debacle happening on a regular basis.
If I hear the words, "there's been a trade," I will cringe until I find out they actually kept Suh.
i predict suh will make all rookie. hes that good, hes a beast
And since you are a college football guru, you must be correct!
... what happens if a team surpasses their time limit? I'm sure it doesn't happen, but is there a draft rule book that says if you exceed your limit you get fined or you lose your pick?
No, they just put the next team on the clock and you turn in your pick whenever. The Vikings missed their pick a few years back and two or three teams got their picks in before the Vikes did.
...how do other teams know who is available if Minnesota hasn't announced their pick?
If your time runs out, the board is still available. If someone gets their pick in before you, they get that player.
The pick's not official til it's turned into the commish, so if the ten minutes go by and the commish hasn't received the pick, Minnesota hasn't picked anyone and everyone's still in play.
I guess BG won't be going to the Dolphins after all, they just traded their pick to the Chargers. I suppose he could stick around until the 2nd and still go to Miami, but I doubt he'll last that long.
Meant to post this in the Draft open thread. Please ignore.
and I said
my name is SUH
how do you do
now you're gonna die!
And Graham goe to Philly. Congrats to both parties
You can never go wrong with a boy named Suh!

Was anybody else reminded of "To Kill a Mockingbird" by the title of this thread?

This man (yes, MAN, not kid) is a game changer.
His level of talent only comes along every few drafts or so.
The Lions ended up with the best player in the draft and arguably the best (no pun intended) running back.
