My wife is at University of Michigan hospital about to have brain surgery at 2pm today. As im sitting here with her in the preoperative room, my nerves are going crazy waiting for the doctor. She is a huge football fan and she is connected to Michigan football through Facebook. So she usually informs me on recruiting if I haven't read it on here. I just ask for prayers for her. We both have faith in the doctors here. She's having a shunt put in her head because of fluid built up and will not drain. This is the last option. She's a trooper and she just said Go Blue with a smile!
OT: UPDATE:****Need Prayers
Wishing her a full and healthy surgery and recovery. Go blue
Done. Thoughts and prayers friend.
Thank you 615Wolverine

Good luck to you and Mrs. Ball Hawk. I can't imagine how stressful it is for you to just have to wait, but try and remember that she's in excellent hands.
Thank you GoBlueInNYC
The doctors at U of M are some of the best in the world. Best of luck and prayers for you, your wife, and your family.
Thank you Magnus!
Sending some good vibes your way, as they say. Hopefully, she has a full and speedy recovery. You shall be in my thoughts, sir.
Makes the whole weekend seem rather insignificant in the larger scheme doesn't it.
Thank you ontarioblue!
Certainly does. Did a pretty good job this weekend of trying to keep my fandom in perspective. It was a beautiful fall football day on Saturday. It struck on all chords for fall in Michigan and I just enjoyed spending time with friends and family. When we returned to the tailgate postgame, I tried desperately with some success to not let the outcome of the game ruin my perception of the day as a whole.
All of us Michigan fans, we are drawn closer by the victories and defeats of sports but even more so by real life events. That is why I am forever grateful for family and value good friendships.
It is nice to read comments and thoughts like you just wrote.
Thank you LSAClassOf2000
The football team does not deserve my time logging in and commenting here but you and your family does. We all wish you the best of luck in and out of surgery. Always remember that the Board has always been a community, a family if you will, and we are all here to help. You have a friend in all of us and we'll do whatever we can for your family. Just post here or contact us on Twitter or wherever and we'll be there for you.
Sending all the positive thoughts we can muster to you and your wife!!!
Sending positive thoughts your way!!
Thoughts & prayers are with you
Good luck and will definitely pray for you guys.
My Grandma has some brain surgery a few years back (tumor removal). Such a tense day. God those minutes drag on forever. I will have my fingers crossed for ya. Not that I need to. Those doctors really know that they are doing nowadays.
Just said a prayer for you and your wife. Please post an update after you hear back from the doctor.
Praying for your wife and family!
Absolutely. Do you know the doctors' first names? Will pray for them as well as the surgery is going on.
Best possible wishes
Prayers sent up into the blue sky from Virginia. You are in a very good place for health care.
Thoughts and prayers are with you...you are in good hands.
Thoughts and prayers for a sucessfull surgery and healthy recovery.
You guys are in my prayers.
Thoughts and prayers are with your wife and your family. We'll all be thinking about you. God bless.
to your wife and family, may she come out of this fully healthy and able to live a happy and wonderful life going forward.
Our prayers are with you. The UM medical staff is the best, I'm sure everything will turn out great. Keep us updated.
I am sorry, but if your wife is going through something like this, why are you on a message board like this?
I just hope this is not some prank. I have witnessed several posts like this on other message boards where it turned out later that it was just a prank. Something about this smells familiar.
I hope that this is not some joke, and I am sorry if it is not, but even if it is true, good god man, drop the message board posts and put your focus on your family.
Sometimes, what folks in his situation need most in a time like this is a little levity. If he gets that through MGoBlog, so be it.
You must have been blessed thus far to not have had a seriously ill family member. There is so much waiting and worrying.
I doubt this poster was neglecting a family member or sickbed duty to post--he was probably in one of those interminable periods where there is nothing to do but climb the walls and watch the clack hands crawl.
Go to whatever site might help that downtime go faster, I say, and find whatever distractions you can.
Like others have said, the doctors at UM are some of the best. I'll keep you in my thoughts and try to send some positive vibes.
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. God Bless.
I rarely post (obviously) but was very moved by your post. It sure puts things in perspective. I'm confident the entire MGo community is behind you and your wife. Games are games. Life is not. Best wishes times a thousand.
My thoughts are with you and your wife. If anyone can do it, it's the doctors at U of M. She's in good hands. Go Blue.
To you, your wife, and the DR's and staff that are taking care of you.
You have my thoughts and prayers, Ball Hawk and Mrs. Ball Hawk. She's in good hands.
Hope everything goes excellent and she recovers quickly.
right now. Stay strong.
Hope all goes well
I hope all turns out well for you two. Hang in there.
As my grandma would have said. All our best thoughts and prayers. You are in good hands at the U
Thoughts and prayers. I have a niece who had a similar procedure done and my daughter had it done as well. I've been told by neurologists that shunt placement to reduce hydrocephalus is one of the most common brain surgeries performed. I'm sure you are in great hands and she will bounce back quick.
God Bless you, your wife and your family.
and just in time, to spend the last couple minutes in prayer for your dear wife prior to her surgery. May the Good Lord guide those surgeons at U of M Hospital to do their very best work today.
Though by now it's likely too close to surgery to get this message to you, please, upon your wife waking up post-surgery, whisper "Go Blue" into her ear. It's sure to get you the smile you deserve from her!
and prayers for you and your family
Prayers are with you, your wife, the doctors, and everyone involved in your wife's case. Know that you have support and prayers from Michigan brothers and sisters across the globe.
... and Go Blue!
it should be 2:00 pm, and with it sending more good thoughts from the eastern edge of the country. She's lucky to have you there.
Thoughts and prayers are with you both. Here's to a speedy recovery!
And to a speedy recovery.
I think HE will be watching over your wife today. And thank you for making a post about your situation. Actually, this helps some of us understand more clearly there are far more important things in life than what has occurred on the football field the last few weeks.
My son had to have his skull reconstructed when he was 7 months old. Nothing compares to the agony of having a loved one go through something like this, even when the prognosis is great it is one of the most terrifying experiences you could imagine. I will be thinking and praying for you and your wife today.
Good luck and be at peace. She's in good hands.
You both are troopera
All the best to you and your family through this ordeal. Go Blue!
Here's to a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
As an employee of UMHS, I can say you're in good hands. Here's to a speedy recovery.
Thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours. Here's to a quick and successful recovery.
Wishing and praying for the best for you guys! Even though I am an ND fan, I still do have heart. Black as it might be.
...that your wife and yourself are dealing with this. It should put in perspective for the rest of us the things in life that are truly worth agonizing over.
Will be praying for your wife, you, and everyone caring for her.
Best of luck and may all be well.
Take a few deep breaths and try to relax. Prayers are on the way. God bless you, your wife, and your family.
May God be with you both during this difficult time. You are in a great hands at U of M.
I am pulling for you both and you are in my thoughts and prayers. She is at one of the best facilities, and I'm sure that they will do some great work for her.
vibes up there from Eisenhower and State!!!
I know this is taboo on the board, but I am glad that we can suspend the rules for a little bit to make sure our fellow U of M brother knows that he and his wife especially have so much support. Prayers to you and your wife.
but best of luck to you and your wife. Prayers sent.
for you and your family in this tough time. I can't imagine what you must be going through but we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I'll also hug my wife a little longer and tell her how much I love her, and I recommend everyone else do the same with their loved ones, because you never know when something will change your life forever.
Best of luck to you and your wife. Stay positive and know that she's being treated at one of the very best hospitals in the world
Blessings on her and on you. Praying for you both.
Thank you so much for all of prayers. Im letting my 8yr old son read all of the comments and he is amazed how much people care. I had some down time think so I thought I would ask for your prayers. Its a 2hr procedure and im glad to read about others that went through the same thing. My family is all about Michigan and both of my boys attend three camps each during the summer and we as a family try to donate to Mott Childrens hospital. Its very humbling. The doctors name is Dr. Daniel Orringer and he reminds me of Doogie Howser. Anyway thanks for the Prayers and Go Blue!
Your wife is in good hands. Some of the best doctors on the planet are roaming those halls right now.
There can't be anything worse than having to sit and wait for an outcome. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
Your message brought tears to my eyes. It certainly puts the last couple of weeks into perspective. Good luck and best wishes.
Good luck to your wife and family hermano. A special prayer for all of you.
Prayers and positive juju for you sir. Good luck to you and yours
to have the skill and knowledge to heal you wife's condition. My uncle had a brain tumor the size of a tangerine removed at UM about 8 years ago and he is doing great at 82 years old now.
Have faith, He WILL provide!
Thank you for helping to put all of this football nonsense further into perspective. I came to the board to see how bad everything had become today, and happened to open your post. I know everyone uses football as an outlet from the real world, but sometimes it seems to trump real life and consume them. Stories like this quickly change that. I hope nothing but the best for you and your family. My thoughts are with you. Go Blue seems far to trivial. Instead, GO MRS. BALL HAWK!!!
May the operation be immensely successful and your wife have a safe, speedy, and full recovery. Please keep us updated when everything hopefully turns out all right.
Couldn't have a better team doing the surgery, if there's any place that she's safe, it's at the University of Michigan hospital! Even knowing that, the best of luck!
This sort of thing makes things like football and firing Borges meaningless.
Thinking well of you guys.
but I'm praying all will be ok
To my 6 year old daughter and she said "daddy why do we need to pray she is at Michigan" amen to that and prayers from me and my daughter!
Thoughts and prayers to your family. She could not be in better hands.
And thank you for providing all of us with some much needed perspective.
Lots of people on this board need a reality check...including myself.
& Godspeed to you & yours throughout this journey.
And best if luck to you and your family.
Sending energy and prayer hoping to see a completely successful outcome and recovery. May love flood your presence and remove all uncertainty and doubt.
Will be praying for you and your wife.
continual prayer for you and your wife
Glad to hear everything went well. Wish her a speedy recovery. She's lucky to have someone like you in her life who cares this much. I
I pray you and your family. Don't worry about the team; I think in spite of their troubles, they will be OK. Go Blue..
Thank you for the update. God bless you.
And a speedy recovery. Godspeed.
So glad that the surgery went well for your wife and you guys sound like wonderful and strong people.... Going to keep praying that the recovery goes well for your wife. God bless you guys and GO BLUE!!!
That's great news. She is in good hands at the U of M hospital. Hope all turns out well and you can put this chapter behind you.
Happy to hear the good news!
Thoughts and prayers for your wife and her family and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Great to hear! Hope she has a speedy and successful recovery. Now get some rest!
I'm late to this but Godspeed!
Glad to hear the surgery went well and she is recovering. Take some time for you to recover as well, I'm sure she is thankful for everything you have already done. My continued prayers over the next three months of recovery for you and your wife.
Glad to hear things are going well and we will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this recovery period going forward!
I'm very happy for you and your wife. Go Blue and God Bless.
Thoughts, prayers, good vibes, etc. from Montreal. Here's to a brilliant recovery.
I'm so happy to hear things went smoothly. I went through something similar with my father that did not unfortunately so we are still dealing with the complications. I read the thread earlier today and instantly got goosebumps. That happens any time I hear about brain surgery of any kind. Thank God things went well and I wish your wife and your family all the best. Go blue.
My prayers are with you! I hope everything turns out okay.
Just prayed for her.
Continued prayers, buddy. Glad to hear surgery went well.
Good news and prayers to your family is refreshing
My partner's wife just had a brain tumor removed from behind her eye. She is also a dentist. Her eyelid on the effected eye would not open for months. But less than 6 months out she is back at work. Keep up her and your spirits. Healing takes time. Good luck and Go Blue!
for your wife and your family
Great news, Ball Hawk!
I'm late to the thread, but thoughts and prayers from here as well. Glad to hear the recovery started off well and best wishes for the future.
As others have said, this sure helps with perspective. Thanks for sharing with us.
