OT- Tigers 4/8

Submitted by MGoPietrowski on

A nice little Easter afternoon treat. I hope you're all enjoying the holiday.

Scherzer takes the mound as the Tigers look to open the season with a sweep of the always threatening Red Sox.

It looks like Fister is headed to the 15 day - DL, so we'll start the season shuffling the rotation already. As well, the Tigers batters put the league on notice yesterday. It's still early, but if we can just get one game like that (a 10-0 win featuring 5 homers) once a week, it's going to be a fun season.

Go Tigers, and as always... GO BLUE.

Team looks great early. Pitching and defense are going to be an issue all year. Cabby is not a good defensive 3B - not even average - but his bat more than makes up for it. Should be a fun year. I love how Prince and Cabby have already become friends. Sounds silly, but I really can't wait for NEXT season when Victor comes back. That is going to be an all-time great season if we can stay healthy and Leyland doesn't retire or get run out of town by idiots.

I did and it wasn't even close to a "great" play. He made a play that is routine for his position. That is expected. He didn't even have to move for that ball. The only reason Cabby played 1B for us in the first lpace is because when he came on he made 5 errors in 5 games and Leyland put him at 1B. Cabby may cost us a few games on D, but he will win us many more than that with his bat.

Saying pitching is going to be an issue is a pretty vague statement. Every team has to shuffle starters throughout the season. Of all teams, I'd say we're in pretty great shape all things considered with a few decent prospects in the minors. I hope they're just being pro active with Fister and looking at this from a season long prospective.

Eh, it'll be interesting what happens with V-Mart. I'm not so sure at his age that this will be a smooth recovery and even if it is, I don't know if the Tigers will want to keep him or trade him away. If they do keep him, it will be interesting to see how he produces but if he does close to how he does last year the you're right adding him to Cabby and Prince will be insane

caution about only 2 games in apply, but Jackson looks like a new player.  Patient at the plate, not trying to do too much.  If he has a great year, we will score a lot of runs with what comes behind him.

Leyland going to Toledo tomorrow to watch Casey Crosby pitch. I'm a big fan of Crosby's, more so than Oliver or Smyly. Electric stuff. Maybe we'll see him in a spot start should he perform admirably tomorrow

Gotta love the first couple weeks when MLB Extra Innings is free! Down in Charleston, S.C.,  I actually get to watch Fox Sports Detroit for the games.

This is the first time that I've caught the Tigers this year, and WOW I am impressed.  Our lineup is dangerous 1-9, and Jackson seems to really have developed.  Gotta love Fielder and Cabrera, power hitters who can still find the infield holes.

Great start again today, Jackson fouling off pitches then pulling a double. If him and Boesch can hit all season than good lord this lineup could be unstoppable.

Sherzer was absolute garbage today. Not a good thing if our bats consistently have to bail him, Porcello, and whoever that 5th guy in the rotation is out.

The only other time he has pitched against Boston, he had a similar result that he did today. He's been inconsistent most of the time he's been in Detroit. Will probably have an ERA between 4-5 this year. Luckily with our offense, that could be good for 15 wins. I think one of Porcello or Scherzer will get traded before the season is over.
