OT: Texas and ND reach 4-game agreement
Sorry if this has been posted, but apparently Texas and ND have reached a 4-game deal:
"The Longhorns are scheduled to play in South Bend on Sept. 5, 2015. The Fighting Irish are slated to play in Austin on Sept. 3, 2016, and again on Aug. 31, 2019.
The Longhorns return to South Bend on Sept. 12, 2020."

I was a little surprised to see ND going after more high-profile games, you know, since they're trash and all.
couldn't have reached this agreement before CW got fired. It is the perfect set-up for...
"Everything's bigger in Texas (except football coaches)!"
To Hell with Notre Dame
And Texas is my new favorite non-Michigan team. Well, not really, but my two roommates went to A&M so I love talking up Texas (even though they can go to hell with everyone outside of AA).
I don't see that game as a reason to dislike Texas. It was an incredibly exciting game and the team with the ball last won. Furthermore, my friends who were in attendance all raved about the UT fans' friendliness and respect for Michigan.
The only thing I have against UT is that they're creeping up there in the wins and win percentage standings. But that's partly on us for not taking care of business lately.
I still dislike Texas.
God bless Lloyd, but this was one of those games that drove me crazy. We were up 10 with the ball late, and Texas fans thought they were through. Instead of going to Braylon / Stevie (who could not be stopped), we hammered it up the gut and punted. That game should have been a 17 point win.
We were never up 10 with the ball. We scored to go up 31-21, gave up a TD (making it 31-28), kicked a FG (34-28), gave up another TD (35-34 UT), kicked another FG (37-35 UM), and then lost on the last-second FG.
I guess you could criticize our red-zone playcalling, but our defense (and Vince Young's crazy talent) had far more to do with the loss IMO.

insert the name of any team playing ND.
Unless they really fall off by then (this is 10 years from now) but I predict Texas winning at least 4 of those games.
I don't see Texas falling off the map anytime soon. Their recruiting classes are stacked with a ridiculous amount of talent every year.
I agree with that. Maybe a coaching change could slow things down, but there are tons of kids in that state dying to play for the Longhorns. That is likely not going to change soon.

for texas would be losing DC will muschamp to some (probably SEC) school as a HC. hes currently the HCIW. im not worried about wen mack retires. i dont think mack is worried about wen mack retires. we're set for awhile(i hope).
oh and its on irish =)
but maybe even more
4 years of Texas taking Notre Dame's lunch money on national TV. I'm there.
I'd like to see us drop them those years. I like to play them, but not every single year. I liked what we did in the '90s, when we took a couple 2-year breaks in the series.
On the bright side, beating Notre Dame does more for your national reputation than beating a lot of better teams (Oregon State for instance).
With the sanctions, and the inevitable attrition (also Kiffen), I think USC won't be very good for at least the next few years and therefore ND needed someone to give them a decent strength of schedule with UM being their only real possible strong opponent. Unless Kelly really brings it all together there at ND I see Texas crushing them all 4 years.
USC will be back by 2015.
Back to being a dirty program
More than likely, yes. But a lot of people would put Alabama in the "dirty program" category, and I would certainly argue that they're back.
We'll get four wins and keep pushing them on overall winning percentage.
Go Blue!
In case you missed it, Texas is 2nd in total wins and closing in on win percentage. This isn't necessarily a good thing for Michigan from the total wins/win percentage standpoint.
As long as we start winning again, it doesn't matter one way or the other.
As of now, Michigan has 877 wins to Texas' 845 wins. That's actually pretty close. And the winning percentage is also closer than you'd think. If Michigan averaged 9-4 and Texas averaged 11-2 over the next 10 years, we'd be within .0001 point of each other in winning percentage. That's a nice way of saying that these last 2 years REALLY hurt Michigan in this department. Ohio State is also really close to Texas in this department, so they'd also have a shot at overtaking us within the decade if they sustain their current success and we are merely above average.
Nebraska and Notre Dame are tied at 837 program wins, although ND's winning % is much higher, only .0015 points behind Michigan. So basically, we're dangerously close to ND in terms of winning percentage - again, these last 2 seasons have hurt. We'd have to be within one LOSS of ND's season total in order to stay in the lead. That is, if they go 10-3, we'd have to be no better than 9-4 to maintain the win % lead. If they're 7-6, we'd have to be no worse than 5-7.
Believe it or not, we actually won more games the past three seasons (17) than ND did (16). They had their own three-win season a year before we did, and then didn't really capitalize on our weakness the past two years, going 7-6 and 6-6. It's Texas that has really shot up there.
With the loss of NE and CO from the B12, TX and OK are probably looking to upgrade their non-conference schedules slightly. If I were NE and OK, I would seriously consider reviving their traditional rivalry game as an annual non-conference tilt as soon as possible after NE begins play in the B10.
I cannot wait for 2015:
ND, coming of its 3rd "Return to Glory" 9-4 season will be waiting for the Texas Longhorns, still licking their wounds from a MNC game loss to Kevin Sousa-led UM Wolverines, under 4-time COY Rich Rodriguez. The cameras will be fixed on the ND sidelines, as the players soak in the atmosphere and prepare to announce to the world that ND is back. ND's kicker strikes the ball as a sea of flashbulbs go off in the stand. Then the Texas return man races back virtually untouched for an opening kickoff TD, and everyone remembers why ND simply is no longer a national power.
UT, Miami, USC, UM all in the same year, Swarbrick knows how to schedule.
I know that Michigan and Notre Dame are scheduled to play every year until 2031 but it has been confirmed that nothing was actually signed. I have to wonder if, with the Big Ten changes, that 20 year agreement might get altered.
Also, what is the current agreement with USC?
I don't know how many UM games have been signed on; Brandons recent quotes on it being stupid to stop scheduling ND and the 2031 agreement will have them on our unofficial schedule till otherwise stated.
USC goes for a long time, well beyond 2017 not sure if it is anything more than just an agreement like UM, or if there is an extended contract.
You're pissing off a lot of people today, Irish.
Plus, that picture is only of the visitor end zone, the picture above shows nearly all of ND Stadium, almost all of which is red.
Just responding in the manner I was responded to. I like H2V's posts because #1 I almost always get a laugh out of what he posts and #2 I know I get to push back a little.
The photo was supposed to say "About as well as OSU? =)" but the rich text editing didn't decide it wanted to post if for some reason. Now if I was trying to piss you off I would have linked the other photos which show a lot more of the stadium or the article that talks about the lack of UM fans at the game. So get over it
Just responding in the manner I was responded to.
No you're not.
Another example that ND is not coming to the B10.
Notre Dame is going to get their butts kicked by Texas
In other news how about this rumor on the Bama board? I'm not sure I believe it, but I really want to.
Care to give a quick summary for those of us without a subscription?
