I didn't really find the skit funny, but Harbaugh enjoyed the visibility for UM.   I tried searching with the MGoBoard search function and couldn't see whether this was already posted.  If already posted, Moms please delete.

Drake is good for a pop artist, but he is the milquetoastiest rapper ever.  The type of rap music that makes me embarrassed for him.  GIve me some Gangstarr over this clown any day of the week.  Just because he makes a ton of money doesn't erase the fact that he is wack as funk.

Admittedly, it's a struggle for me to not first think of the English explorer whose lead coffin is still the object of diving expeditions off the coast of Panama, although I am well-aware of the other Drake as well. The sad thing is that I feel at 38 that I should be more hip than this and I am sadly not, says the man with more cats than kids in his house.

XM, normally I would recommend that you use the Google machine to find out about this mysterious "Drake" fellow, but if you don't know Drake (and Adele and Taylor Swift) you might not be aware of Google either. In your defense, don't you live on some rustic farm in northern Michigan?

I'm now in my early 40s and I do know Drake. My kids (ages 8 and 10) and I like to "groove out" to One Dance. Earlier this spring it was Jumpman. Before that it was "Hotline Bling" and, a few years ago, "Started from the Bottom." But lately we've moved on--now it's all about Desiigner's "Panda."

(And for those of you who are concerned: we always go with the radio edit.)

here on the farm.

like others, i thought 'drake' was our running back.  or maybe a hotel in chicago.   now i know by implication from other posts that he is some form of a rapper.

I could pretty much put in any album from 94, east/west/south/midwest,, and it would still sound fresher than anything out today.  Better production, the sound was grittier, but early 90's hip hop hadn't become a corporate money scheme yet.

Modern rap is just so soft.  Run the Jewels is dope, and some underground guys still bring some heat, but anyone who is even remotely mainstream is just too watered down for me.  Jay Z, Drake, Kanye Lil Wayne A$AP Wacky, just too vanilla for my tastes.  Kendrick is the only rapper who is in the mainstream that gets my respect,  but his music doesn't blow me away.

Do you know of Taylor Swift or Adele? Well he just tied their respective billboard records for number of weeks at the top of three separate billboard charts simultaneously. He's also had the number one album for the last 8 weeks straight for what that's worth.

I never understood the people that would interject in a discussion over favorite television shows just to announce that they themselves don't own a set.

Or vegetarians that have to make their presence known and somehow guilt or shame people that enjoy meat.

Having some base level of pop culture knowledge can't be a bad thing.

You cant identify Taylor Swift? ??? She's not some flash-in-the-pants or some Disney product only teen girls know. She might be one of -- if not the -- most powerful women in the recording industry and she's not even 30 yet. You might as well just say, you dont follow anything at all in pop culture. Which is fine but then why post in this thread about pop culture?

It takes all kinds, XM. I know T-swift and Adele, but I only know drake from internet memes. I don't know that I've ever heard one of his songs.

Someone posted a new music board topic last week and I honestly thought it was some kind of weird c**k measuring competition where the object was to list the most obscure, unheard of bands...I couldn't compete.

Eh, unless there is music that you like that's on it. Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album is #2 on the album charts right now (#1 if you don't count streaming). Maybe you think the Peppers are shit though.
