OT: SIAP, Drake Plays a UM Grad on SNL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_mJ4fhbOUU
I didn't really find the skit funny, but Harbaugh enjoyed the visibility for UM. I tried searching with the MGoBoard search function and couldn't see whether this was already posted. If already posted, Moms please delete.
Agreed, not too funny, but it would be really cool if we could get him down to the Big House for a game! As a fellow Torontonian I would love for him to rep UM.
Why? Drake is not good at rapping.

He got 99 problems, gettin' rich aint one.
Drake is good for a pop artist, but he is the milquetoastiest rapper ever. The type of rap music that makes me embarrassed for him. GIve me some Gangstarr over this clown any day of the week. Just because he makes a ton of money doesn't erase the fact that he is wack as funk.
...and a predilection for Gang Starr?
I think you're me.
Lol, Guru is the muther lovin man!!! RIP
signed,
chronically not-hip
Co-signed.
Even when I saw him I did not know who it was.
Sorry.
/Puts on slippers and goes back to the rocker on the porch.
Admittedly, it's a struggle for me to not first think of the English explorer whose lead coffin is still the object of diving expeditions off the coast of Panama, although I am well-aware of the other Drake as well. The sad thing is that I feel at 38 that I should be more hip than this and I am sadly not, says the man with more cats than kids in his house.

oh woe is me.
m-dog, how about we get a six-pack and watch that new andy griffith series with don knott that everybody is stirred up about...?
Done. You mean Metamucil, right?
That stuff is the best.
just got it's first entry, one day early. shooters all around!
XM, normally I would recommend that you use the Google machine to find out about this mysterious "Drake" fellow, but if you don't know Drake (and Adele and Taylor Swift) you might not be aware of Google either. In your defense, don't you live on some rustic farm in northern Michigan?
I'm now in my early 40s and I do know Drake. My kids (ages 8 and 10) and I like to "groove out" to One Dance. Earlier this spring it was Jumpman. Before that it was "Hotline Bling" and, a few years ago, "Started from the Bottom." But lately we've moved on--now it's all about Desiigner's "Panda."
(And for those of you who are concerned: we always go with the radio edit.)
here on the farm.
like others, i thought 'drake' was our running back. or maybe a hotel in chicago. now i know by implication from other posts that he is some form of a rapper.
....or a University in Des Moines.
he is/was one of my all-time favorites, and a heck of a body guard besides. strongest guy i ever knew that didn't cheat (read: steroids or HGH). when he worked U/C he looked like a sasquatch.
I'm a decade younger and I never made it past the early '90s in those genres. I was never that into rap or hip-hop, but now I can't even understand why anyone would enjoy it.
Agree. To me rap was much better in the 90's. Can't even listen to the current stuff.
I could pretty much put in any album from 94, east/west/south/midwest,, and it would still sound fresher than anything out today. Better production, the sound was grittier, but early 90's hip hop hadn't become a corporate money scheme yet.
Modern rap is just so soft. Run the Jewels is dope, and some underground guys still bring some heat, but anyone who is even remotely mainstream is just too watered down for me. Jay Z, Drake, Kanye Lil Wayne A$AP Wacky, just too vanilla for my tastes. Kendrick is the only rapper who is in the mainstream that gets my respect, but his music doesn't blow me away.
he had it coming, x10.
EDIT: should be to his post above. thanks drupal...
There's nothing much hipper than not knowing who Drake is. He is high on the "cool to hate" list, so not even knowing who he is takes you to another level.
thank you.
Whoo Hoo!!
It's like the khakis I always wear. Now they're suddenly cool because of Harbaugh.
Sick with something long enough and it will eventually be your time.
but couldn't identify them in a line-up if they were the only 2 in it.
Are you proud of this?
nothing more.
I never understood the people that would interject in a discussion over favorite television shows just to announce that they themselves don't own a set.
Or vegetarians that have to make their presence known and somehow guilt or shame people that enjoy meat.
Having some base level of pop culture knowledge can't be a bad thing.
you killed that mastodon in your avatar, you neanderthal hunter-gatherer poster. don't try to pretend that isn't your real personna.
And I'm a vegan atheist who does Crossfit.

culture in the first place, and thus i asked. i would know that the 2 females were singers though, and i do know substantial amounts about pop culture in other areas, like sports and crime. does that help?
"flash-in-the-pants"--for all intensive purposes, that's a pretty good expression!
The Billboard top charts are casually referred to by myself as the "shit list."
I haven't found RHCP interesting in quite a few years. It's pretty easy today to ride the wave of a single success.
Twenty One Pilots have a couple of decent songs, but pretty much everyone else on at least the top 30 could blow up and I wouldn't blink.
