OT -- RIP James Caan

Submitted by M Ascending on July 7th, 2022 at 1:41 PM

I'm sorry to report that James Caan has passed away at the age of 82.  A phenomenal actor -- from The Godfather to The Gambler and beyond.  Honeymoon in Vegas is still one of my favorite comedies. Condolences to his family.

Oh man, I hate to hear this.  Elf and an underrated charmer called Kiss Me Goodbye also come to mind.  And who can forget Brian's Song!

Loved James Caan, great and compelling actor. Always dominated the screen in his roles. I hated it when he died in The Godfather. He will be missed.

I've always enjoyed James Caan's acting, and just a great range of characters. Especially when paired with another fav actor, Robert Duvall. From westerns to several sports movies, and of course action dramas. I didn't realize he played ball at MSU until relatively recently. One of the few times I completely disregarded that fact (Kirk Gibson another). RIP Sonny...

Sonny Corleone died at 82?

Well, I'm glad to hear that he at least survived for quite a while after that minor shooting incident at the Far Rockaway toll booth.

RIP, dear man.

Thief is extremely underrated. It's also produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and served as Michael Mann's film directorial debut as well as film acting debuts for Jim Belushi, Dennis Farina, William Petersen, and Robert Prosky. It's got great cinematography (Chicago was a perfect backdrop for this film), excellent acting, and that Tangerine Dream soundtrack that gives it the moody/atmospheric quality. It was critically acclaimed when it came out in 1981 but Hollywood I guess was mehh on it and it was in and out of theaters pretty quickly. Give it a watch when you get the chance. RIP James Caan

RIP James.  Great actor - his portrayal of Sonny Corleone was one of my favorite characters in any movie.

Also, Caan and Kirk Gibson were my two favorite Sparty’s

A really actor, could play a ton of different rules.  I recently caught up on most Michael Mann movies and he's great in Thief, which I think people underrate.

RIP
