You can’t be on a football blog and not mention The Program. Losing to Tim “he could go all the” Wayman
Oh man, I hate to hear this. Elf and an underrated charmer called Kiss Me Goodbye also come to mind. And who can forget Brian's Song!
His performance in Misery, with Kathy Bates was my favorite. He was also a QB at Michigan State in 1956, coached by Duffy Dougherty
Wow, I never knew this, thanks for sharing
I think he came in as a DL.
Wikipedia says that he was 16 in 1956, and that he didn’t make the team at MSU.
"Brian's Song"

brian piccollo has cancer...
They shot Sonny on the Causeway.
RIP
... He's dead.
Rest in Peace.
Caan enjoying a cigarette after being blown away on the Causeway.
GREAT catch, RJC.
Do you suppose Vincent Corleone enjoyed a similar genetic inheritance?
Loved James Caan, great and compelling actor. Always dominated the screen in his roles. I hated it when he died in The Godfather. He will be missed.
RIP Mr. Caan
Legend. He'll be missed but we'll have the films forever
Who else remembers Rollerball?
Jonathan, Jonathan!
I've always enjoyed James Caan's acting, and just a great range of characters. Especially when paired with another fav actor, Robert Duvall. From westerns to several sports movies, and of course action dramas. I didn't realize he played ball at MSU until relatively recently. One of the few times I completely disregarded that fact (Kirk Gibson another). RIP Sonny...
And Greg Kelser
Sonny Corleone died at 82?
Well, I'm glad to hear that he at least survived for quite a while after that minor shooting incident at the Far Rockaway toll booth.
RIP, dear man.
Thief (1981) was a favorite.
Came here to say this. The Tangerine Dream soundtrack is pretty cool also.
Thief is extremely underrated. It's also produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and served as Michael Mann's film directorial debut as well as film acting debuts for Jim Belushi, Dennis Farina, William Petersen, and Robert Prosky. It's got great cinematography (Chicago was a perfect backdrop for this film), excellent acting, and that Tangerine Dream soundtrack that gives it the moody/atmospheric quality. It was critically acclaimed when it came out in 1981 but Hollywood I guess was mehh on it and it was in and out of theaters pretty quickly. Give it a watch when you get the chance. RIP James Caan
Plus Tuesday Weld.
Shit. That sucks. RIP to a great actor.
RIP James. Great actor - his portrayal of Sonny Corleone was one of my favorite characters in any movie.
a
Also, Caan and Kirk Gibson were my two favorite Sparty’s
Always got a frog in my throat when Billy Dee Williams gave the Gayle Sayers George Halas trophy speech.
At least Carlo had to answer for Santino
I forgot about rollerball, that was a classic for the day.
JOHN-A-THAN! JOHN-A-THAN! JOHN-A-THAN! JOHN-A-THAN!
RIP Mr. Henry
Sad thing... RIP, Mr Caan - so many great roles and movies.
I really enjoyed listening to his interview on the wtf podcast, only a year and a half ago. Some awesome stories, dude had a great life. Starts at 15:00 in.
He had a lot of great roles and performances. RIP
Eldorado with John Wayne was one of my favs! “Ride, boldly ride”.
Mississippi
Mississippi
He wasn't the best tickle fighter. Have to give that belt to Buddy.
A really actor, could play a ton of different rules. I recently caught up on most Michael Mann movies and he's great in Thief, which I think people underrate.
RIP
Look what they did to my boy...
RIP.
Look how they massacred my boy.
FIFY.
He was great in Bottle Rocket
Detective Sykes, Alien Nation
I had forgotten that one. It's been a minute.
A very charismatic guy and wonderful actor.
RIP, Jimmy.
Both James Caan and Burt Reynolds are in this scene from Blazing Saddles; unfortunately YT wouldn't let me embed. Don't blink:
RIP Sonny...
Just watched it twice without yet spotting them. How far into that clip?
