OT-Richt-How many ways did he blow this game?
I imagine the Georgia boards are melting down right now with Richt hate. He pulled a classic Lloyd snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Here are my favorite calls.
1. 3:30 left up 7 he decides to give up and run 3 in the line and give MSU the ball with 2:00 to go(an enternity in college) when 1 1st down wins you the game. Way to trust your stud qb. Bad
2. Ok so you have a pretty good defense and decide to be conservative. I don't like it but not indefensible. So what do you do to your defense that has dominated most of the game? Prevent. Of course you go prevent. I'm not a anti prevent guy but in this situation(plenty of time, worst case is tie) it was stupid.
3. Go to OT and set up your eratic kicker for a 43yd fg. Just brutal.
4. My favorite. 3rd and 10 vs an aggressive MSU defense you go under center and run a PA pass when you are on the edge of FG range. Shockingly he is sacked and MSU blocks the low kick. Play action on 3rd and 10 has to be my most hated call in football.
Richt I hate you and it has nothing to do with you blowing my under bet which had a 99% win probablity with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd qtr.
Do you have any other Richt beauties I missed

the playaction call pissed me off the most...soo dumb
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:26 PM ^
He did two things I disagree with:
1) He went too conservative with his D on that last MSU drive. Cousins will pick you apart if you don't pressure him. 2 minutes is too much time in college to play that soft.
2) Taking a knee on second down in the 1st OT. Just gained two yards running, then you lose those two yards taking that knee. Just run an off tackle play to center and maybe you get a few extra yards. Those extra yards might have been the difference.

who gives a shit it's the outback bowl
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:34 PM ^
Normally I would agree but he cost me money. I hate bowls and wasn't going to watch but...
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:29 PM ^
Meh, no biggie. Richt makes Dantonio look intelligent.
January 3rd, 2012 at 7:24 AM ^
Dantonio nearly screwed himself by going for 2 (and failing) in the 3rd quarter. If he'd just settle for 7 in that situation, the game never goes to overtime IMHE.

I thought the snap was bad. The snap seemed high and inside. The holder had trouble getting it down which threw off the timing of the kick.
The commentators never mentioned anything about the snap and hold. Did anyone else notice this?
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:36 PM ^
Really?
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:38 PM ^
Let's not get "salty" over MSU winning....it helps the BigTen's image and anyone who watched that game can't deny that Sparty played a great game to claw back into that thing.
I don't know if Richt really "lost it" for Georgia...Sparty had tremendous resilience and rightfully won the game.
We just need to take care of business tomorrow so the "in-state momentum" stays on our side.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:46 PM ^
Screw little brother... I'm still pist off at their kicker. LOSER
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
Nobody is ever gonna change their view on the " slow ten" never, even when we do dominate the SEC in bowl games
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:54 PM ^
Thank god you don't post often. Sorry you lost money but get the fuck over it. This stuff happens all the time in betting, tip your hat to Sparty for a gritty win.
January 3rd, 2012 at 12:55 AM ^
Simple solution, don't gamble.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:50 PM ^
Sparty rightfully won the game? Richt did everything he could to give away the game.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:58 PM ^
Did they score more points than Georgia? If they did, then they deserve to win the game.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:41 PM ^
I completely agree. Screwed me in my bowl pool too. Not to mention I hate it when Sparties are happy.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:45 PM ^
Georgia was aggressive all day and in OT they go into a shell. They deserved to lose but I lost my butt in my pool because I had a ton of points on Georgia to win.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
They weren't aggressive on their last possession in regulation. They ran it on 3rd and 7 just to force a timeout.

It certainly didn't affect my nap. Best nap I ever took was from 1 to 5pm...apparently, I could have slept in another half hour, then I could have avoided the entire B1G afternoon debacle.

Congrats, you made it all the way to January 2nd before breaking your New Years Resolution to stop posting the worst threads on MGoBlog.
January 2nd, 2012 at 7:35 PM ^
These threads are great if only for your responses.
January 3rd, 2012 at 12:21 AM ^
Let us all join together in our coven of indifference.
January 2nd, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
I just like the fact I made no mention of Sparty in my thread and I get blasted.
1. You broke your resolution of clicking on a thread you don't care about to post you don't care. Here's a tip....Don't click.
2. It's an OT thread on horrible coaching. What's the big deal?
Oh I forgot my acceptable posts list on MGOBLOG.
1.Michigan is awesome here's how
2. A recruit tweeted his color of shirt today
3. OSU lol
4. I'm here ........... is their a bar nearby
5. Sparty, but not really because half will say we don't care about Sparty and the other half will say we hate Sparty.
Excuse me for trying to talk football.

It doesn't help the Big Ten's image other then in the eyes of Big Ten fans...It help the image of MSU...At best the Big Ten ends 5 and 5...lost the head to head with the SEC and Ohio is 0 and 10 against the SEC in Bowls
January 2nd, 2012 at 7:29 PM ^
Didn't OSU beat Arkansas last year?

Here is a better question:
Who the hell cares about Richt and Georgia?
January 2nd, 2012 at 8:25 PM ^
Actually no. it looks like he is working on his FORTRAN midterm.
January 2nd, 2012 at 6:55 PM ^
Seriously you want to compare Lloyd Carr who had a winning percentage of something like 80 percentage to Mark Richt.
January 2nd, 2012 at 7:13 PM ^
Carr won 75.3% of his games at Michigan. Richt has won 73.6% of his games at Georgia. Carr won 6 bowl games in 13 years. Richt has won 7 in 11 years. Carr won an Orange Bowl and a Rose Bowl. Richt has won two Sugar Bowls. Carr posted two top-5 finishes and six top-10 finishes. Richt has posted two top-5 finishes and six top-10 finishes.
Look pretty comparable to me.

With all due respect, no one cares what you think.

Pretty sad you TROLL!!! What time do we play our "BCS" game tomorrow?

how long until we send this guy packing to bolivia?

January 2nd, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
The only thing that will shut Sparty up is for Michigan to dominate them. That will happen soon enough.
- I hate when Michigan fans act like Sparty. Give them credit where due.
- Sparty has a tough defense. Again, give them credit. Michigan will rip them apart next October.
- Quit whining about their win.
- Focus on killing VT.
- Focus on beating Sparty & Ohio in recruiting, leading to beating them on the field.
- And don't obsess about luck. I absolutely loved UTL Michigan win vs. ND, but if that wasn't a huge dollop of luck, I don't know what was.
- Michigan also was massively lucky not to have more injuries this year. Maybe all our bad luck was absorbed by the Michigan secondary the last several years.

Way people been acting toward
Sparty the last couple years, you would think MSU is a rival or something. Glad they won. Good to see a GR product like Cousins go out a winner.
January 2nd, 2012 at 7:36 PM ^
is not from GR. he is from the little dutch town known as holland.
hey everybody i'm from holland, isn't that veird.
January 2nd, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
because the Dutch anymore are actually a minority in Holland.
January 2nd, 2012 at 8:18 PM ^
a sparty win makes the conference look good, and a sparty loss makes its fans look . . . well spartyish. Both have their benefits.
About the only thing that I find a tad bit annoying is the win more than likely makes Cousins think even more that God/Jesus wanted Sparty to win--all the while ignoring that many football players, including multiple ones on Georgia, are practising Christians also. I really hope Cousins doesn't become Tebow II.

January 2nd, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
I don't know why so many people try to convince themselves MSU is less of a rival than other schools. Look how many Michigan fans have been acting toward them (SPARTY NO!!! LOL whenever they do anything remotely wrong, even when it isn't nearly bad enough as what the Spary No meme was made for), some around here not give MSU credit for a good win, particularly after a terrible first half, etc.
People around here care about MSU. Why? Because they are annoying as hell. But they are still are rival that is annoying as hell. Give them credit or look petty complaining about things, it would be nice for Michigan to win a few games against them though before so many around here do this so that Michigan fans don't look like petty babies when doing this annoying act that has been happening so often around here the past couple years.
