With Blake Countess in the fold, any news in regards of Stephon Diggs? And curious on why Eric Magn. rating slightly dropped  (ESPN) after hearing so many good things about our elite OL.; AND the odds of having decommitment on the O-Line due to high-caliber O-Line joining the Maize and Blue - Thanks

Diggs will almost certainly land in the SEC - I think he's publicly stated he wants to play down there.

Not sure why Magnuson dropped in ESPN, as people have said he is a candidate to pick up a 5th star from Scout or Rivals. I personally chalk it up to ESPN's incompetence, but they could have seen something at the Opening they didn't like.

All of our OL recruits seem to be very excited about playing for UM, and I don't see any leaving. They all have a chance to contribute, and they are all valuable members of the class

The word from "The Opening" was that Magnuson didn't show anything special.  There were positive comments about his footwork and agreesiveness, the report also said that he was suffering from exhaustion so he didn't compete in the second day of drills.

If his story is true, there's no way James shouldn't have been cut. Add in the fact that James cost him his job and is on record that he lied to do it and I'd be bitter also.

Dad helped kill SMU.  Son's basically torn TTU apart (face it, Mike Leach was the best thing that ever happened to that football program).  Neither of them gets any negative press, even after ESPN runs a documentary on the SMU scandal, because SURPRISE! Dad works for ESPN.

I first saw it here: Doc Sat's take.  The following are direct quotes from the book.

At no point did I say to lock him in a room. I never told Pincock what he should do with Adam beyond getting him off the field and putting him somewhere dark since his eyes were sensitive to light.

Months later, when Adam James was deposed under oath, he said he found the incident "funny" and that he did not believe that I should have been fired. In fact, he texted his father about the incident while in the equipment garage because he thought he would "like" it, since they both have the same sense of humor.

According to Pincock's statement, he specifically told James not to go into the electrical closet by the media room. James admitted under oath that he ignored Pincock's instructions.  He admitted that he let himself into that closet and that he shot a video -- a video that would start a firestorm of allegations -- because he thought it was funny.

its just a bratty kid being spoiled by his dad, complaining about not getting playing time despite being a lazy sack of shit, getting his coach fired, getting away with it, and laughing about it the entire time.

there would be players/coaches coming to the media blasting the coach.  The responses has been the exact opposite with overwhelming support for Leach which tells you that James is nothing more than a little brat.

TTU was looking for an excuse to fire Leach because both of them didn't get along(more so with TTU having a grudge against Leach than the other way around).  James incident gave them that excuse.  Leach took TTU to new heights that has never been seen before in their history of the program.  I would expect TTU to be irrelevant for a long time until the next coach come along who can make them relevant.

I don't agree. People generally rally around the coach when stuff like this happens, especially if the coach has been successful. Look at how OSU players are almost unanimously backing Tressel. I remember everyone at Indiana defending Bob Knight when he was fired, too.

Adam James may or may not be a punk, but I would have expected fans to turn on him even if he were a perfect Boy Scout.  He had three things working against him: first, that he wasn't a very important player (and was thus expendable in fans' eyes); second, that his dad is famous, opening up charges that he was spoiled; and third, most importantly, that he brought down TTU's best coach in forever.

The ESPN documentary on SMU was such a farce, they found a scapegoat and ran with it.  It didn't pass Brian's "are you dumber than a fourth grader" test.  Everyone was taking money to go there EXCEPT the two star running backs (James and Dickerson).  I have a really, really hard time buying into that idea.

Maybe they were just a good match for each other.  One a spoiled brat and the other an arrogant coach.  If you're winning a lot of games, it says something about you when your university still doesn't want you.   Other schools aren't lining up to hire him, either.

Even at the peak of his success the man had to beg for interviews just to be able to say to TT he'd had one--he wasn't even considered at Kentucky, where he'd been the OC. And remember when Auburn declined to interview him even when his agent said he'd pay all the costs?

There's a reason he stayed at Tech so long and it wasn't his love for the program.

Leach may have gotten the shaft in the James situation, but the guy is known as a gaping asshole. And he comes off as one in interviews. Granted, most coaches at big time programs have larger-than-life type A personalities, but Leach's problem was that he just didn't know how to deal with people. His former players made comments to that effect in the aftermath of his firing. He seems to live in his own world (who sues their former school for an injunction to force them to let him coach?). The fact that he's still unemployed is telling: he couldn't land the top job at Maryland, Minnesota, or UConn, schools of equal or lesser prestige than Texas Tech.
