Omg, you mean Mike and not Fury. First names would've helped. Um, I'm willing to bet it's going to be a shitshow.
November 27th, 2020 at 5:54 AM ^
First names wouldn’t have helped. If you don’t know what Tyson - Jones fight means then your opinion to the OP’s question doesn’t matter.
November 27th, 2020 at 6:36 AM ^
Thanks. I didnt know what fury meant until i googled it.
November 27th, 2020 at 8:38 AM ^
I don't want to suggest that I don't think you're an asshole who should go fuck himself, but Tyson Fury - Jon Jones would've been cool. Just because you watch ESPN all day doesn't mean the rest of us do. Why would anyone who doesn't think of two elderly boxers first?
November 27th, 2020 at 8:57 AM ^
I don’t watch ESPN all day and easily knew what this was. Fury was just in the news trying to get a fight in London against Joshua.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:29 AM ^
Joshua who?
November 27th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Gattis
November 27th, 2020 at 12:02 PM ^
The point was that if you weren’t aware of this fight, you probably don’t follow boxing closely enough to form a worthwhile opinion.
November 27th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
I don't follow any sports news site except MGoBlog. You guys tell me more or less everything eventually anyway. Was this covered here?
November 27th, 2020 at 9:57 AM ^
You’re dumb.
November 27th, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
When you are talking about boxing and Tyson...there is not need for clarification.
November 27th, 2020 at 7:45 PM ^
Exactly. When you are talking about boxing and Tyson in 2020, it clearly means the current WBC world heavyweight champion and not an old retired guy. Weird not to call him Fury, though, but that's OP's problem.
Jones is a closer call but there's still only one of them that didn't retire years ago.
/s
I will eat crow since I have now googled it and seen that this was first announced back in July. That didn't make front page international news and I didn't see it here, so I didn't know about it. My bad.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:21 PM ^
Wrong. He is Fury or the Gypsy King...nobody calls him Tyson. ?
November 28th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Did you miss the /s or do you just enjoy piling on?
November 27th, 2020 at 5:08 AM ^
I just hope no one eats any ears or children.
November 27th, 2020 at 5:46 AM ^
Hey you know the risks If you are bold and reckless enough to take your ears and/or your children to that exhibition
November 27th, 2020 at 6:42 AM ^
I haven't paid much attention to this because my impression was that it was an exhibition. They are both in their 50's and it's only 3 or 4 rounds so does it really matter. Maybe one of them will get Covid and it will get canceled.
Edit: is canceled with 1 L or 2? Cancelled.
November 27th, 2020 at 6:50 AM ^
It is an exhibition. They will be wearing headgear. You can't place a bet on it (legally). Who in their right mind, would pay money to watch this? People pay money to watch pro wrestling though, so what the hell do I know?
Used to be a huge boxing fan before Tyson chewed up Holifield's ear & was allowed to continue. Stopped caring about any of it pretty much immediately.
November 27th, 2020 at 8:46 AM ^
Actually, Boxing has been on the rise as of late, lots of quality fighters out there. If you enjoyed it before I think you'd like it now
November 27th, 2020 at 11:43 AM ^
Did they change the rules so that body parts can't be eaten?
November 27th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
Quit with the whining, he spit it back out at least.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:02 AM ^
Just an FYI... Joe Rogan had both men on his podcast talking about the upcoming fight... neither one seemed like they were taking it as an “exhibition” fight.. I don’t think they have it in their DNA. While they may be wearing headgear, I fully expect they’ll both be going 100%... it has the makings of an interesting fight.
I’m just going to wait a week and watch it free.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:18 AM ^
agree. highlights followed by internet vids are good for me.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
I’m not saying they don’t care, but a huge part of the job is promoting, and these guys are old pros at that too. More people want to see blood fly than two old pros have a friendly match for funsies. They’re definitely selling it as the former than the latter.
November 27th, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
What are they supposed to say, they have PPV to sell. Hey tune in and give us your hard earned dollars while we pretend to hate each other and hit each other for 4 rounds? I can't believe anyone would pay for that crap. Tyson hasn't fought since 2006. There's a sucker born every minute.
November 27th, 2020 at 1:01 PM ^
It's an eight round fight, not four. But okay.
Have you watched any of the recent videos Tyson has put out, or any of his recent interviews? Dude is in shape. Roy Jones gonna die.
November 28th, 2020 at 4:23 PM ^
The California Boxing Commission has stated that this is an exhibition and knockdowns are not encouraged. If it gets out of hand it will be stopped. So Tyson has to take Jones out quickly. There is no scoring and no winner will be announced.
November 27th, 2020 at 5:52 PM ^
Friendly wager that Mike Tyson doesn't look like he's "going through the motions" after "selling the fight". The guy has a Michael Jordan mentality... he's win at all costs... ask Evander Holyfield's ear. If Mike mails it in... I owe you a night at the bar.. post Covid of course.
Also... as I said, I'm not paying for it. It'll be free in a week or so.
November 27th, 2020 at 11:26 AM ^
Terence Crawford & Errol Spence are 2 undefeated virtuosos. If they ever fight, it’ll be like watching Tyson v. Ali in their primes. Downside of boxing is best fights sometimes don’t get made or happen with over the Hill boxers. Spence is lucky to be alive after Drunk rolling his Ferrari multiple times following a big win.
November 27th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
It was only an exhibition when Apollo fought Drago, and you remember how that thing went south. Who knows what body parts may get gnawed off?
November 28th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
Wrong.
They updated rules to make knockout MORE likely.
12oz gloves instead of 16oz.
No additional protection (NO headgear).
Win by knockout is valid.

November 27th, 2020 at 8:37 AM ^
Both canceled and cancelled are correct, with canceled being more the common usage for some reason.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
“Cancelled” has that extra “l,” which seems to bind to the “ou” receptor of Canadian and UK English in some parts of the world.
November 27th, 2020 at 6:44 AM ^
OG death match.
November 27th, 2020 at 6:49 AM ^
I know next to nothing about boxing, but Mike Tyson still strikes me as being among one of the last men on the planet I’d either want to get on the bad side of or meet in a dark alleyway. That video he put out a while back of him training made him look like he was still very much in good shape and could just knock anyone straight into next month with one clean hit.
I’m not willing to pay to watch that match live, but I’ll be interested to find out the next day how it went, because it’s Mike Tyson.
November 27th, 2020 at 7:19 AM ^
Barring either guy having a freakout, it's gonna be 8 two minute rounds that essentially is gonna be a light spar. So unless Tyson decides to go vintage killer tyson, it'll probably be fairly uneventful and only worth watching for extreme nostalgia purposes.
November 27th, 2020 at 8:06 AM ^
I don’t think Tyson is capable of “deciding to go vintage killer Tyson.” He hasn’t done it in 30 years!
November 27th, 2020 at 5:58 PM ^
I'll take that bet!
Whether or not he's capable of going "Killer Tyson" is another conversation... but I fully expect him to bring whatever heat he has left.
November 27th, 2020 at 7:42 AM ^
I think fighting is bad.
November 27th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
I think it's barbaric. But I like to watch!
November 27th, 2020 at 7:44 AM ^
I know Roy Jones Jr said he still thinks Tyson will try to knock him out anyway, but the no knockout rule with headgear and no judges ruined the whole thing for me. I probably wasn’t gonna pay for it anyway, but I do have a friend that has us over for a lot of ufc PPVs so I originally planned on watching it with him. Probably better I don’t watch it with him with covid raging, but idk why they bothered with this “fight.” I’m interested to see how much money they make off this fight.
November 27th, 2020 at 10:25 AM ^
Wait a second...
There is a no knock out rule in place for this match?
There will be no judge for this match?
And they will be wearing headgear in this match?
What in the actual fuck.
November 27th, 2020 at 1:41 PM ^
My thoughts exactly. They might as well just play fight night on PlayStation or something.
November 28th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
There may be a Russian judge somewhere.
November 27th, 2020 at 8:21 AM ^
This is going to be trash and another 'why did i fucking buy this shit' event.
If this were a boxing match with standard rules, Tyson would fucking beat the living shit out of Jones. It would be quick.
This is an exhibition and Tyson is now a nice guy with no killer instinct. This is going to be horrible.
I am one of the biggest boxing fans and proponents left for boxing > UFC. This will do NOTHING to help the sport.
** addition **
IF you do want to watch real boxing, watch any Terence Crawford fight. He is extremely skilled, smart and has knockout power. Easily the best boxer in the world (pound for pound).
There is a young kid (i think 22 ish) that is taking the boxing world by storm and is setup to become the future pound for pound king - Teofimo Lopez. Stunning already. Looks to be an 'undefeated for a decade' guy facing tough competition. Can take a punch and has big power (with skill).
Speaking of Mike Tyson, there is a very young heavyweight that is set to take the division by storm. He is about 22 and from the UK - Daniel Dubois.6'5" with 78" reach He is at minimum fun to watch. Although he does not fight with the style of tyson (peek-a-boo, quick inside, ducking upercuts) he is extremely active and trades with crisp power punches. The problem with him is that he will eventually get caught. But he is going to rack up some KO's, and since his style is so fun to watch, he will be 30-2 with 28 KO's, yet make 3 times more money than the guy who is 32-0 with 16 ko's. (just like Tyson). Youtube his haymaker fight with Richard Lartey.
November 27th, 2020 at 9:28 AM ^
Will be watching Dubois-Joyce after the Penn State game!
November 27th, 2020 at 10:20 AM ^
Huge fight and no one that watches this will be disappointed. Joyce is really, really good, if Dubois OK's him, it shoots him to stardom.
I am actually leaning towards Joyce winning this though. But boxing needs more fights like this.
