OT: Merry Christmas, you filthy animals!

Submitted by Ballislife on December 25th, 2023 at 6:28 AM

Merry Christmas, everyone! The little one woke up early this morning, and seeing the wonder of Christmas light up her face as the Christmas tree twinkled in her eyes for the first time was really amazing to witness. It gave me a moment to reflect on all that I’m thankful for, including this community. I hope everyone who chooses to celebrate does so happily and safely! And if you choose not to celebrate, have an amazing day as well! We fellow Wolverines love you one in the same.

Amazing how much satisfaction seeing family members joy brings. I recently got two big screens (65" and 77") for the first time in my life and though nice I haven't got any more satisfaction out of them then just the joy this football team has brought me. I can go back to watching my little 32" tv and UM football winning and be happy as a clam.

Seeing my wife happy with her new dream house after all the years of penny pinching is way more enjoyable then the couple of material things I thought would be a bigger thrill for me (she thinks big fancy tv's are wasteful).

Still; having my Dad to talk to and my brother to laugh with and celebrate a Lions Division win together puts all the material wishes to shame. You think it and hear it and intrinsically know it but in later years it can really hit you what things are truly important.

Now don't get me wrong I enjoy good meals and Northern Michigan and great beer but not more than your company here. Thanks Brian, Seth & Team.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Sitting in the den or puttering around the kitchen, listening to my four grown children (and spouses) laugh and banter and play table games in the living room is the best feeling.  Snow falling (although it isn't really sticking yet).  The house is warm, and it's a freaking wonderful life.

Merry Christmas or Whatever You're Celebrating Today, MGoblog!

Merry Christmas to the MGoBlog crew and community. Our kids are grown so we slept in a bit and are drinking coffee before opening presents. In the meantime I got confirmation that one of my Michigan roomies (circa early '80s) scored me tix to the Nat'l Championship game once we beat Bama--so ALL I want for Christmas (besides being with my family)--is a chance to take him up on his generous offer. Enjoy the holiday and Go Blue!

Last night my kid said he wanted cinnamon rolls this morning, which is a tradition from my childhood and something I've largely been unable to recreate.  I've tried a hundred times to cook 'em like Mom did, but only came close once (about 20 years ago).  I'm trying again this morning, so we'll see how it goes.

Either way, we'll have a good day together this morning and with the wife's family later this afternoon.  I hope everyone enjoys a great time with family, friends, and pets on this wonderful day.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Edit: The cinnamon rolls are slightly overcooked, and not fluffy enough - so another fail at Mom's perfection.  Alas, I am not destined to be a competent baker...  They taste good, though, so I have that going for me!

Merry Christmas MGoBloggers !  Been a season to remember so far.  Here's to seeing it continue for a few more weeks..  Have enjoyed reading your updates and thoughts about Michigan football and basketball. This football season has been a lot of fun so far.

Christmas is different when you share it with children. The magic is real, for a fleeting moment. Enjoy them. I’m 18 straight years of the magic. Hoping this was not the last!

Our kids are in their late teens, so Christmas is kind of relaxed here. No one has opened gifts just yet, in fact. My son is watching "A Christmas Story" in the family room, my daughter is making headway in Genshin Impact and my wife is currently buried in the gifts because she's still asleep and we love her just enough to have our Christmas fun.

Started celebrating last night, continued this morning.  I will take the dog out for the Christmas 5k jog in the fog.

Grandchildren (with their mom and dad) are on their way over.

I wish everyone on MGoBlog a merry Christmas Day and holiday season that exceeds all expectations.

Remember, Michigan is favored over Alabama for a reason.

Merry Christmas one and all!  One of my favorites things during the holidays is watching the annual Christmas pageant at our church's Christmas Eve service.  The young children dressed in their lamb and angel costumes is just priceless.  This year, the show was stolen by the baby Jesus, played by a young infant child of one of the parishioners. Usually they just use a doll!

In a few days, we're off to the Rose Bowl!  Hope to see some of you out there.  Go Blue!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Our church pulled out all the stops for midnight mass; brass band, choir, organ, enough incense to set off a sprinkler system, the works! It was wonderful and full of joy.

Plus, we got home so late the kids slept in past 9.

Now brunch, then off to grandma's for pierogies and city chicken.

I hope each and every one of you have a blessed day.
