OT - Kevin Smith is a moron

Submitted by Sommy on
Before you read this, I have to clarify that the only way I tripped and stumbled onto a Drew Sharp column was because I was listening to Karsch and Anderson and they mentioned this quote specifically: "Yeah, yeah, I get it. Competitors compete regardless of the stakes. I asked Smith which scenario he would prefer: a 4-0 exhibition season with a guaranteed loss in the regular-season opener in New Orleans or an 0-4 exhibition season with a guaranteed victory in the opener? He said he would take the 4-0 exhibition season, believing that success -- regardless of its artificiality -- creates separation between a new year and an old nightmare." Oh, kinda like how last year started, right? LOL http://www.freep.com/article/20090814/COL08/908140328/1089/To-Kevin-Smi…

His Best: Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma Good: Mallrats, Clerks II Fun, but stupid: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Zack and Miri Make a Porno Not worth defending: Jersey Girl Honestly, Smith's best stuff is in his An Evening with Kevin Smith DVDs. Hilarious.

I think Clerks is more about an age then an era. I could watch it all through college... now that I'm actually working at a real job, it's instantly less watchable. I think that the stupider movies (Mallrats, Clerks 2, JSBSB) will always be the most enjoyable for me because the laughs are cheap and easy and don't require me to identify. In a lot of ways, Kevin has never grown up. Chasing Amy is universal and beautiful, too.

...we already knew this. He's already said that the Lions will win a playoff game this year, and that prediction comes off the heels of last year's prediction that the Lions would win the Super Bowl. Guaran-Sheed has nothing on this guy.

he was expecting that question and was quite prepared for it. Seriously, being interviewed like that is not always easy. Even if you do it a thousand times you still are going to say some dumb shit. when people trip up on FACTS, that might be a different story. But when you ask someone a Baba Wawa question, who cares what the answer is? If you were a tree, what kind of a tree would you be? a money tree you dumb fucking biatch!

Eh, go easy on the guy. Everyone says dumb crap; difference between us and him is that he says it and then 12 people write it down and put it onto (e)print.

I'm not going to fault the kid for trying to give a good faith answer. After all, how is he supposed to know Sharp is an evil little vindictive bastard set on tearing him apart? Just let the kid run. We can rag on him if he turns out to suck as a running back.

The question was dumb. As Foote says, here are the scenarios: if he says he wants to win a preseason game, he writes the dipshittery that he put up today. if he says he wants to lose the preseason games, he writes a column about how smith doesn't care about winning and if they want to win in the regular season they need to learn to take everything seriously blah blah blah. Smith should have punched Sharp in the nuts.

Everybody was slamming Smith for his answer, but what about getting on the reporter for asking such a stupid question to begin with? Honestly, who cares about something that you'd never be able to choose anyway? Whoever this reporter is is obviously retarded. I've never heard of him, but it sounds like he's not very good at his job.

but his answer to Sharp should have been: "Neither, you dumbfuck. I want to go 4-0 in the pre-season and win the first game. Now get the hell out of here."

Smith should think more before he speaks, not so much this as last year promise about the playoffs. He is one of the best players on that team though and im pulling for a big year from him.

He was a big time disappointment for me last year in my fantasy league. I had high hopes for him and took a mid-late round flier pick on him. He had some decent games, but I was pretty underwhelmed. Maybe my optimism was just a little misplaced or premature.

Honestly? What did you expect? You picked a running back With durability issues who has trouble scoring while being on a team that had no o line, limiting his protection. That's almost as bad as picking up the st Louis defense; a defense with no defense. The only thing more premature than your faith in him was Barry sanders retirement. That and the events in your bedroom Friday night..

I would first like to defend my sexual potency by saying I have extremely decent stamina. Secondly, I did think he would be much better than he was, given he was the starting running back of a team that I figured would have a run-heavy scheme given their problems at QB. He will be a 1,000 yard rusher this season. No doubt. You want to start a league heads-up to settle this?

She thought the same thing about you.. I would love to. I'll draft an entire team of your choice and you can draft the lions. Are we counting wins in some manner? Ps. Daunte culpepper is a more than proficient qb. The lions qb's do a great job scoring points while scrambling. Albeit for the opposition.

I'll take the entire Lions team and you pick your favorite team. Which I'm going to guess is based on who has the hottest two deep at quarterback (which is obvi the Jets). In that case, i'm going to e-fuck you. And nice dig at the Lions. Just wait for Stafford to keg-toss the Lions to the playoffs.

You pick hot qb's like you pick fantasy rb's. Eli and Jared lorenzen aka the hefty lefty. Until the lions win a game I can dig. Are you even a lions fan, or do you just like mediocre rb's? If that's the case I recommend moving to Chicago

when I hear the name Kevin Smith I think about the 1977 class A title game. Brother Rice vs. Lansing Everett. Kevin Smith hit a half court shot to send the game into Overtime. Smith later went on to play for MSU after transferring from U of D.

I like Smith, he seems to be a good runninng back, but sometimes he just needs to shut his mouth. Im looking for a big year from him in leading the lions to 5(!) wins
